Pridnestrovian Moldavian People's Republic

So here it is then, my fabled new CJ as Owen/Yoman3 told you about in P.S.S.O.

But before i start, i'll just have you know:

The Pridnestrovian republic is not a full recreation of Moldova or the seperate state of Transnistria within Moldova's border, any cities, towns lakes, mountains, hills, roads, streets rivers, valleys, ravines, canyons, canals, harbours, brainleeching facilities do solely just borrow the names of existant places within Moldova without necesarily being a recreation.

Now that we have the mumbo jumbo explained, let's move on:

Split7.jpg

Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic, or Republic of Moldova?

The year is 1990, the old Soviet Union is slowly disintegrating from it's former vast greatness, nation after nation start to declare their own independance from the Russian Motherland. Now it's Moldova's turn, with support from the USA, they try to break apart from the Soviet Union. This was a fatal decission, the untouched communist region of Pridnestrovia started to fight back, in an effort to try to drive the Americans out of the country and regain communist rule over the country.

That, was the start of a civil war, that would continue raging for over four years, leaving the country in complete turmoil.

War...

Villages burn, many young men die, and thousands of refugees flee from the war torn parts of Moldova.

Guest artist: El Burro

After just one year (1991) the Pridnestrovian Red Army(PRA) had suffered great losses of both men and equipment, the situation seemed quite dire for the old Soviet Rrepublic, and each day that passed, the Americans advanced in liberating the nation.

But despite of the rather dire results, hope was just arround the corner.

On the 7th of November, 1991 the P.S.S.O offered to help out the vastly outnumbered PRA, by offering support, this was gladly accepted by the remains of the PRA, hours later, vast convoys of military equipment rolled onto the wartorn roads of Moldova and Pridnestrovia. Together the Army of the P.S.S.O and the PRA regained the confidence in ridding the Moldova of their "vermin".

Chisinau-21.jpg

Support arrives at last.

Victory, but at what cost?

As the years passed, the situation changed dramatically, the world watched in terror as it watched the mangled American tanks and jeeps lay scattered anywhere where battle between the two armies have commensed on the news. Eventually it lead to the US abandoning the war, and leaving the wartorn country to the Pridnestrovians and the P.S.S.O.

The victory of the Communists came as a huge blow for the ones who wanted democracy and freedom, the following years after the civil war would be a though period for them, they would be chased, killed, hanged, or executed in other ways by the victorious communists who now regained the control of Moldova, in the year 1994 the country was Renamed to be Pridnestrovian Moldavian People's Republic.

Chisinau-25.jpg

A Victory parade held in 1994, to clebrate the victory of the communists, the vehicles used were a mix of the PRA and the ones which belong to the P.S.S.O Army.

The SCUDs as you can see here are not the property of the PRA, but of the P.S.S.O

What about the flag?

As the country was reborn, most beleived that it was time for a change of flag design. Many design drafts were made.

the first draft was this:

flag-thing2.jpg

It was disliked by the public, mostly because of the black, which had some undertones of anarchism, others also meant the colours symbolised oppresive forces.

What would eventually be the flag of the new nation would be this:

pmaflagthing-g.jpg

The  green shall  represent Farming.

The cog shall represent industry.

The compass shall represent education and intelect.

Next update will be due in a few hours.

Nice start and I just like these Socialist CJ's, because they remind me my homeland Lithuania and the look of it 15-20 years ago. ^^

OMG did I just die? That all looks so amazing Glenni, great work on the roads, that was what really caught my eye. That first picture was marvelous, with the tanks and such and the amazing photoshopping. That parade looks haute, doesn't seem like to many there though, lol although I dunno how happy many people are about going into a communist dictatorship. 3.gif

Time has moved on, most bruices from the war have been patched up, it's now 2008 and 14 years has passed since the troubled times.

The city i shall be showcasing today is the city of Chi?in?u, estimated pop is arround 700 000.

The first shots will be arround the main boulevard:

    The Main Boulevard

    Chisinau-1.jpg

Housing blocks tower over the 12 lanes of old asphalt.

    Chisinau-10.jpg

One of the central bus terminals, very handy for the ones not fortunate to own a car in the city.

    Just another propaganda sign.

I love the story in the update, very well illustrated, and that second update looks great as well... well it doesn't... it looks utterly decrepit, but I think that's the look those apartment blocks are going for eh? 3.gif
