Hello All,

This is a very interesting project. I do have a question though. How do you set set those retaining walls?

wow, VS looks great as always (though i'm still waiting for it to be a gleaming metropolis). i havn't stopped in in a while. if there is anything that involves DHE please let me know (even though my term has expired, or is soon going too) i would very much like to get involved, as the only thing that has involved the Department of HE as of yet has been the constrution of the two schools. so, once again looking great!

Welcome to the world of the Page Flip Bug, Cardinals. When a thread gets long enough, the last page will not show up. All you need to do is replace the number after STARTPAGE= to the next highest number, in this case, from 70 to 71. It usually kicks in after about page 7, but it is a good idea to check with threads of any length.

Sorry, I can't help you on the retaining walls question. I don't know either.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Wow this city has definitely grown since I saw it last. This is simply beautiful. Last time I saw it the city was just a little baby on the side of a hill.

You know, I've always wondered why I never posted here, but you're doing a great job, and I'll probably visit more often. Oh, and congrats on the Trixie!

Thank you, thank you all. I'm not going to do the whole acceptance speech, as you all know how much I appreciate the comments, even though I haven't updated recently. Though in honor of the Trixie I do believe I'm going to go ahead and post what I have probably today, and catch up on all the recent comments.

Cardinals I'm sorry that you don't know where to get good retaining walls, because I don't know, wait for the next poster who will hopefully know.

And DTP congratulations on your trixie. I submitted one vote for you. Great update, I wonder why they just found that oil. And is my signature fine? 9.gif

    Edit: Huge page flip! :-x

Sounds good. By the way, you've got a really bad page flip bug. 18th post and it still won't show.

Just posting this really quick... will do replies.

Well it's finally time for Update 30... been long enough I suppose.

OK, as part of IHG's expansion of the Resort District, a new tolled limited-access highway was built connecting it with the new mall, dubbed VS-101 (spur off of VS-1).

Here is where it begins at New Sibelus Ln. next to the police station:

    301VS-301SExpw.jpg

Curving along the southern fringes of the Resort District:

    302VS-301SExpw-1.jpg

I might implement smooth curves here, but I wanted the traffic to keep flowing as quickly as possible (I modified my RHW network speed so cars go about 70 mph, much faster than the Maxis road speed (around 45)... thus smooth curves would slow traffic down).

An interchange with an expansion of the town of Frontier:

    303VS-301SExpw-1.jpg

The ramp to the northeast goes here:

    304VS-301SExpw-1.jpg

An extra eastbound onramp with Frontier Rd.:

    305VS-301SExpw-1.jpg

I had planned to build a corresponding westbound offramp, but didn't have the right space to fit it in.

Just west of the Frontier Rd. overpass VS-101 loses its freeway status and intersects the ramps from VS-1 and then a farm road before widening to 4-lanes and reaching the mall:

    306VS-301SExpw-1.jpg

Switching to VS-1 now, it has an elevated high-capacity diamond with Park Reserve Dr., to serve the mall:

    307VS-1EXIT1-1.jpg

And then it continues up past the mall and crosses under the refinery's rail spur, with signs for the approaching interchange with VS-2 waiting to be installed:

    308Rail-over-RHW-8-1.jpg

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for, the new VS-1/2 interchange!

    309ModifiedCloverstack-1.jpg

I haven't quite completed beautification yet, thus one of the ramps being underwater, but I will fix that!  " src="http://afdes.oxyhost.com/forum/Smileys/ellow_yellow/tongue.gif" />

I also took this opportunity to reclaim some real estate downtown, though at the expense of one reader's favorite scene. VS-2 now utilizes the El-RHW4, causing the whole interchange and frontage roads to only take up 4 tiles as opposed to 6.

    3010VS-2.jpg

    Disregard the brown box...  :-X

Continuing north on VS-1, the Northbound onramps from VS-2 stay seperate from the through lanes through another interchange, creating an interesting situation...

Leaving the highway theme now, you may have noticed the garbage piling up around the mall. I tried addressing this several ways, including shipping it out VIA a canal and opening a waste-to-energy plant, but eventually settled for expanding garbage island:

    3013GarbageIslandExpansion.jpg

Here is a shot of the canal:

    3014Canal.jpg

It's currently simply serving as an attraction to residential development.

Lastly, just for kicks I upgraded an existing underpass with the C&W RR to a FLUP:

Next update there is something major you'll see... in fact, it's in one pic in this update. AFDES members, no guessing!  3.gif

Good update. Is there any hope of a region view soon so I can try to find a spot for a new development.

Nice to finally see an update! I like the Super-2 VS-101, easier to make a Super-2 with the new ramps for the RHW-2. The JCT of VS-1 and VS-2 is awesome as well.
