Welcome To Page Fifty Eight

Virgin Shores is getting huge! Like, wide spread wise. And I'm seeing a lot of mid-rises now. It was inevitable. 4.gif

Great work DTP, you always know how to impress us after the wait between updates. That's why people reply here twenty four seven hahaha.

Very nice!

Wait, elections are on the 30th?

Can I get an absentee ballot or something?

I'll be on a plane to Texas that day and won't return till Nov. 2nd.

Great Update 26a, DTP. I've been following this for awhile, but have declined to comment until now. My favorite was the trail system near the resorts, and I like how the asphalt streets blend in with the regular roads. I also love your use of RHW (glad those textures are back up BTW).

I just have one question, and I'm not sure if you've answered this already, but where did you get the avenue/road transition? Or is it a RHW transition? (The pic of the RR overpass at Frontier Rd and 2nd pic of the update) I've been looking for a better one for awhile, and that one looks great.

Looking forward to 26b!

    Jake (88fordwayne): Thanks!

Mike (Archean): Yep... those 30,000 people have to live somewhere! Yeah... though I plan to leave some rural areas.

    Thanks!

sedimenjerry: Of course you can get an absentee ballot! Nominations are done beforehand, so you'll see who to vote for and can PM me your vote before you leave.

mapmaker89: Thanks. The avenue-road transition is available here: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=4777.msg154526#msg154526 It's linked to a file-sharing site. It is a default replacement, btw.

Hampi: Thanks! There's something I've been meaning to ask you... I was thinking the other day that the Virgin Oil Co. needed a headquarters building. Do you have any ideas as it would contain your office?

    SirUnger: Thanks!

    un1: Thanks!

    Twenty20: Thanks! I try.

crazyarchitect: They all seem to fit in with the city's look, though I think #2's a little too weird looking... I'd be happy with either of the others. And I'll get right on that baseball field! It's a really good lot!

    Still working on 26b everybody.

YEA!!! i got a building built. to bad it came to late :'(. but.... it still is in business. Lack of profit in green lake doesn't mean lack of profit here, definetly with all these new medium density homes coming in.

and the baseball team will come to virgin shores, couldn't wait till it was built. lets see, about 715 comments later... 3.gif

    gotta love VS

    Great CJ Deathtopumpkins

To the Virgin Shores planning commision,

From the desk of Mr. Wright.

I sit at the head of the board for a rather large investment bank, Wright & Co., one of the few who are still in a rather decent financial position. I have been watching virgin shores for quite some time and I feel that expanding into the region would be beneficial to both the city of Virgin Shores and my company. Therefore I propose the construction of a new regional headquarters for Wright & Co. To be placed on the southwest corner of an intersection in the centre of the new downtown, the proposed building is the jackson tower, a small 2x2 office building. The upper floors are set back so as to allow light to reach the street and to minimize the shadow. The total cost of the project is estimated at $50,000. I believe that the construction of the jackson tower south of aspen park will create an iconic landmark for the City of Virgin Shores and will perhaps encourage more high end buisnesses to move to that area.

Wrigt & Co. look forward to doing business with the City of Virgin Shores.

I've been following this for a while as a lurker, but i though i'd stop in to say it looks great, as well as to ask a question. I've looked everywhere, and i can't find what your using to make those modular interchanges. I'm not talking about the custom interchanges that come with the nam, but the stuff you have attached to the rural highway. Any help would be appreciated.

I approve of the new overpass.

I'm glad that elections are on the 30th -- if they'd been on the 15th I would have missed it!

As a prelude to my campaign I only say this...

Do you want the next term to be like the last two? Expert management, precision, and prevention of congestion. So, vote for me.

    Patricius Maximus,
Head of the Department of Transportation

Ok then, I pick #1 to build, if it goes through the planning commission lol

Election time already, I guess I'll give it another run:

If you want the parks and recreation in the Virgin Shores to keep growing,

    Then keep Crazyarchitect in office

Anyway, I'm caught up and I like what I see very much, DTP.  Do I qualify to run for a position?  If so, is it too late to run for the Head of the Utilities Commission?

Nice update. It's great to see Virgin Shores growing in this way. It feels like things might start to change more noticeably now. Some of the proposals coming in are likely to have a lot more impact on the city(?).

Crazyarchitect: Welcome back! Number 1 is my favourite too. I also like the stadium. If it falls under my jurisdiction, then I approve.

Hampi: I'd be tempted to approve suggestion 3, to go somewhere close to crazyarchitect's new building (above) in the Aspen Park downtown area. These would then be used as the new yardsticks for maximum building heights in Virgin Shores.

Mr. Wright: I'm afraid I can't see the building! The STEX search doesn't seem to be working. Do you have a link to it? Or maybe a picture of it if you already have it in your plugins? Your description of it sounds promising though, and if it matches/complements the two buildings above then I'd be very interested in placing it in with them to create a small midrise cluster. Until I see it though I can't approve it.

I hope this architectural render will be helpful.

The BAT itself was made by sparkythepenguin, there are several versions that will be installed in the landmark menu, the version to be used is the CO$$$ version set 3m back from the sidewalk

That looks ok to me. It's a bit more historic than the other two, and a little smaller. I think it would look good there in the mix with crazyarchitect's and Hampi's choices. If the bat is an accurate version of that then I approve. You might have to wait for the searches to be working again though.

One thing I should add to my earlier post is that these commercial developments are all subject to the current demand levels, which I hope we can see in update 26B!

psander5: I'd also like to hold the deed to properties next door to that building too, if possible, for future annex buildings, if demand warrants it. A 2x2 and a 4x4 section. sort of like the penobscot buildings in detroit. As you can see, I'm planning for long term growth. Naturally the first upgrade will come in about a decade, barring any recession. and will be on the other 2x2, and in thirty years we'll expand again with the 4x4. I want Virgin shores to become secondary headquarters, we will be moving half our staff from the Liberty City offices over the next few decades.

5 Days later, here it is... 26b!

But first, an announcement (PLEASE READ):

Election day is the 30th! The polls will open at 1800 EDT on the 29th, and close at 1800 EDT on the 30th. I am now accepting nominations VIA PM only, please, so I can keep track of them... And candidates are now welcome to begin campaigning.

Lastly, in these elections I am eliminating the position of Virgin Oil Company Representative, and adding that of Head of the Department of Public Safety.

    Good luck everybody!

    replybanner.jpg

Hampi: I'm gonna go with 3 too! I like the building, and it really fits in as the cutting edge of architecture in Virgin Shores.

    sedimenjerry: Thanks.

JJC12321: Congratulations, you now own a piece of Virgin Shores.

And the baseball team will come in update 27, because the stadium is in the 67 zip files (150 if you add in zips and rars for TS2) I need to sort through to find stuff I need...

    MEMO

FROM: The Office of the Mayor of Virgin Shores

TO: The Desk of Mr. Wright, c/o Wright & Co.

We would love to do business with Wright & Co., and I think that building would be a welcome addition to our city's skyline. And I believe I have found the BAT here, if your information was correct: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=19491. I shall commence construction immediately, and the building should be completed by update 27!

    Thank you for your business,

    deathtopumpkins

    Mayor of Virgin Shores

Wrightguy0: Thanks! And I love writing stuff like that... 10.gif

simcity4nj: Thanks! I believe what you are talking about is the Modular Interchange System, included in version 20 of the Rural Highway Mod.

newyorkrunaway1: It takes a good bit of work, but maybe in a few months it will be!

    Patricius Maximus: Thanks.

I do! I support Patricius Maximus for re-election to the Virgin Shores Department of Transportation! Paid for by the office of the mayor of Virgin Shores.

crazyarchitect: #1 it is! Glad to have you running for re-election.

Todd: Thanks! The tankers are on the way to pick up that black gold... coming from the Pacific.

    spore415: Thanks!

metarvo: You're on the ballot! And how'd I know you'd pick that position?

psander: Never thought I'd see the day... mid-rises verging on skyscrapers popping up...

#1 it is, and the stadium's not technically your jurisdiction, but I always value other opinions.

    #3 works too!

And I found Mr. Wrights' building.

Mr. Wright: Found the BAT... CO$$$ version... 3m back. Got it.

psander: I've included a demand graph into update 26b.

Nick: I look forward to seeing that building!

Mr. Wright: Hmmm... theres no precedent for buying the deeds to neighboring properties for possible future expansion in Virgin Shores, but I think we can arrange it. Might not be the exact sizes you specified though.

Actually, I ran out of time to post the full update... (there were more replies than I expected), so I'll post it in stages over the next day.

    Oh, and...

    2638Overview.jpg

    Goodnight.

Virgin Shores is pretty big! Lot's of houses and farms and highways and overpasses and shops and trees. A very beautiful place it seems.

And yay! I can finally run for HDPS! Though I would probably make a better Commander of your armed forces in the future, I am a pretty good tactician. Plus I have sharpshooter talents. 9.gif
