Guidelines for posting your journals

I thought it would be fun to see everyone keep a sort of "city diary" with screenshots and descriptions and a history of your city as it develops over the weeks and months you work on it. Create a thread for yourself, and after a while, we'll vote for our favourite stories, be sure to include screenshots as well. Have fun! We're all watching!

Guidelines:

1. If you're starting a journal, be sure to clearly let us know if you are using any cheats or special trainers. We don't want to be mislead.

2. Try to keep idle chatter to a minimum, we want each author's threads to be clean and clear as possible. Feedback, comments and recommendations are welcomed, if the author wishes, but keep it constructive and friendly. Moderators will delete replies that seem irrelevant or inappropriate.

3. Authors, please keep your screenshots as small and concise as possible, if you're illustrating only a small area, there is no need to capture the entire shot of your screen. Use the SPACEBAR to resize your in-game camera. Full-screen shots should be used judiciously so we can keep these threads loading fast.

Great idea Dirk. This should set this forum apart from most other SC4 forums. If this thread keeps growing non stop, and people keep adding pictures, you guys will run out of webspace really fast. Looks like I will have to start my thread and figure a new name for my region.

sorry but have a problem.

want make a post with picture, but if i try to upload an image less then 420kb

in jpg format it says:

 

Request object error 'ASP 0104 : 80004005'

Operation not Allowed

/idealbb/upload/uploadclass.asp, line 92

 

The picture is in 800x600 (the original is in 1024x768 but i dont think thats important).

that "less then 420kb" is a mistake that needs to be correct, .jpeg files cannot be more then 200kb or it wont let you upload it. i've tried NUMEROUS times to upload images of 600x400, .jpeg standard, 400kb-300kb and it wont let me, heck even at 250kb it wont let you. and also make sure your file name doesnt have any werid charaters in it.

your very welcome, i see now that dirk has made the change in the Notes: area, under 200kb, thanx dirk., dirk you should also note that you cannot have werid charaters in the filename.

Take out all spaces and punctuation from your picture names. 

For instance: "bug ville" will become "bugville"  and "angel's cavern" will become "angelscaravan"

hey dirk i know someone has already asked this question (and i would hope so)

if there are enough donations and there is a hughe surplus would you make so that we can post larger pics like 1024x768 and/or say 175KB?

Beep! Spaced out page alert! With a 1024 x 768 picture, users with a 800*600, 1024*768 and maybe even 1280*1024 screen won't be able to the the whole pic at once! Then, it's useless! Also, imagine that you have 50 pictures on a page, of which 10 pics of 150kb. It's already 1.5 MB, and even with a DSL/Cable connection we'll have to be patient...

Yeah, I got 3 mbps cable which is like 375 MBps, and some journals take like 3 or so minutes to load.......

I know there are many posts about posting screenchots, but still I do everything they say and I cannot upload pictures, they are the right size and everything, I delete the spaces in the filenames, but I still get a message telling me that the file is not supported!

I have problems with posting the pics in my cities but not my regions cause the file is too big no matter how much I shrink it! It's in jpeg and I remove punctuation but it still won't upload!
