Hey Everyone!

Let's nominate Riviera for the Simtropolis Olympics! I think it would be a great way to boost our wonderful nation's tourism industry, and give us all something to look forward to. We just have to have a high number of nominations submitted to the SIOC (Simtropolis International Olympic Committee) and we'll be in the final running. But hurry, nominations close on August 7th, 2005! so go here https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=65891  to nominate Riviera for what could be the biggest event in our history! 39.gif

Yours entirely devoted to this nation,

-Kevin

After heavy funding and alot of construction time, the Brenelle International Airport has been constructed on the peninsula just north of urban Brenelle. With the project done, tourism is expected to take a huge turn for the better in sunny Jumtar Island, and currently, the President is working on making sure all parts of the island can be accessed by road. Right now, on the southern part of the island has been developed, but considering the sudden growth of Brenelle itself, there has been huge funding also being put in to developing the right type of infastructure for the city. The city has also applied to hose the Sim Olympic Games, with the main man behind the bid being Mr. Kultzer of the Kultzer Tea Company. Accomadations would be taken care of by the Omni Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Best Western Inn, and the Holiday Inn (pictures coming soon). There has also been alot of money put aside to the development of the Olympic village and the Olympic events arena. Stay tuned, but for now, here is a picture of the Brenelle International Airport. Not the biggest, but considering the size of the city, it is more than adequate and can handle quite a heavy amount of traffic.

It's nice to see you back Nedal. A very nice updated as allways, could we see a picture showing the aiport in relation to the cities?  If Riveria does get to host the Sim Olympic Games, Dupont Customs would be happy to supply any needed vehicles at no cost.

As per all the request, here is an aerial picture of Jumtar Island. As you can see, there has been alot of development, as the nearly the whole southwestern part of the island is now urbanized.

Next, I will show a neighborhood just west of central Brenelle, known in the city simply as The Bricks. It is an upperclass neighborhood, with houses ranging from $300,000 to $500,000 and is one of the more picturesque neighborhoods in the city.

Finally, as Brenelle has progressed, the commerce has moved out of central Brenelle and spread to different parts of the city. However, there is always a charm about central Brenelle, which has now been called Old Town. Most of the charm, ofcourse, is directly the result of the Kultzer Coffee Houses all over the city, especially in Old Town.

(Just to let everyone know that the CJ is not dead, but alive and kicking! Alot of progress has been done, as well as some terraforming. This is just a small update just to remind everyone to keep checking in once in a while.)

Brenelle and its metropolitan area had now surpassed 100,000 residents, and Jumtar Island was fast becoming a new tourist attraction. The area near the Brenelle International Airport had developed into the hottest real estate paradise in the city, with hotels, restaurants, commercial buildings, and even luxury condominiums springing up. However, the President knew that Jumtar Island was but a small piece of the actual land that was Riviera, a small island in the southeastern part of the land. He set up and expeditionary team, but this time, they were headed south, to explore the mountainous and highly picturesque islands south of the Brenelle as opposed to west. Pictured below is the landing site of the team on one of the small islands in what became known as the Babylon Rocks region.

Back in Brenelle, the political scene was heating up. Mayor Wood was caught in a scandal, apparently cheating on his wife after the papparazi caught him at the Klutzter Coffee Shop near the University having affairs with another woman. Riviera, since its beginning, has had an obsession with its Elite Class, and the attention this received has put the Mayor in the backseat according to the polls. His competitor, Mr. Henry Stardley, has since taken advantage, bringing up the incident every chance he gets.

(Thanks for the great response and comments, as well as the undying patience! On to the update!)

With the expedition going well, the government ordered gave permission to four families to begin a new life on the new land south of Jumtar Island, called Babylon Rocks. They immediately set sail, landing on the southeastern side of the mountaineous of the biggest of the archipaelgo islands. Hiking for about 30 minutes to the north, they found a clearing which they thought would be ideal for the new settlement. Here is an artist's view on what the clearing was like:

A few months after the landing on the island, the four families (which were the Gurnan, Detrak, Brians, and Nosworthy families) had clear the land and also had set up a water tower as well as a wind powered electricity supplier. They were still living in the campsite just north of the beach they landed at, so they were more than excited to begin work on their new houses. Here is what the land looked like just before they began construction on the houses:

After another few months of hard work and constantly having to chop down wood from the heavily forested area surrounding them, the families finally completed their living quarters. They werent much, but they were much better than the campsite. They gladly moved in, and first time experienced electricity and running water in months. They were living off the land, a far fetched from the ever expanding Brenelle, a city they had grown to hate. In fact, they even set a lookout tower just to the south of their settlement because of the lawlessness of the areas outside of Brenelle. Reports and rumors of pirates and guerilla fighters were common, so the families had to make sure they took the proper precautions. Here is what the new settlement looked liked after it was finalized:

    Back in Brenelle:

The political scene was starting to get tense, with Mayor Wood under the watchful eye of the public with his every move scrutinized. A meeting with the President did not help the matter, and it was being rumored that even the President would prefer for the Mayor to step down. However, one thing that Mayor Wood had going for him was all he had done for Brenelle and its suburbs of Haven and Trabzina, with the entire metropolitan area's population now around 120,000. For that reason, the Mayor had not been forced to step down yet, but with political pressure being put by the two mayoral hopefuls, Gareth Stront and Henry Trenton, people are predicting its only a matter of time before he buckles under the pressure.

In other news, famous Rivieran actor James Rickinson has been seen around the new developments around Brenelle International Airport, apparently looking for a new luxury condominium to settle into. He currently lives on Shoreland Drive, but its been a while since that has been considered the in resident spot of the city. Ever since the major advertising campaign began for the Airport Development Area, organized by the biggest advertising company in Riviera, Unestar Advertising, people have been looking for apartments in the area, with commercial buildings and luxury condo buildings springing up at a fast pace. Brenelle has never been known for its exceptional planning, but the area out there is much more open than the growingly condensed area of Old Town and the University Sector of the city.

(I apologize for the small update, a larger one is coming soon, with pics of the new settlement in Babylon Rocks!)

Unfortunately, this CJ has found its end to those who havent noticed yet....I was planning on ending it and starting a new one, and that was only confirmed when I deleted Brenelle by accident after trying to delete the region just south of it while terraforming. Anyway, check out my new CJ, the link should be at the bottom somewhere.
