The center of San Pedro is the old town, with the Plaza del Guerrero and the beautiful buildings surrounding it. Before, the city was an old fishing port. But after the royal family situated here in the 1400's it became an intellectual center of learning, leisure, and trade.

    sanpedrosep280512080543tn9.jpg

The old town is rugged but still very beautiful.

    sanpedrosep280512080544rh8.jpg

The Market is entangled inbetween crowded buildings. San Pedro was massive in oriental trading. The market  looks very mudejar and resembles a Moroccan bazaar because many of the merchants were Jewish or Arab immigrants from North Africa.

The Cathedral Bell Tower is the symbol of the city.

    I made it myself. 3.gif

The Cathedral of San Pedro de los Santos has a magnificent baroque facade and a quaint orange grove. Its dome can be seen throughout the entire city. It also contains the tomb of St Pedro Velazquez, a Jesuit priest who stood up for the rights of  converts during a time of persecution and inquisition.

It's about time we had a Spanish journal here, well done, Your city reminds me of Seville.

I love it! Although a wee bit of photo editing would make it just perfect. Your choice though.

edit- also, congratulations on including the Jews and Arabs into your history, this is an important part of Spanish culture that many people often overlook, well done you!

Looking really nice. I love the med. buildings and how you meshed them together with a few other distinct styles. For some reason I am in total love with the third picture, it just reminds me of Spain so much. The cathedral bell is really nice (wow you made that? looking haute 3.gif) and the way you showed it off really makes it stand out. It would be really neat to sit on a hill above this city and look at all the different rooftops and such. Anyway great work, and I cannot wait to see your two colonies.

Simfan34: Thanks, I actually had that in mind when I was making my cities.

Callbat: Thanks, I went to Seville last year and it was so beautiful. 4.gif Yes, Jews and Arabs are a important part of Spanish history - and unfortunately they went through alot of struggles.

    Silur: Thanks!

    s_olah: Thanks 9.gif

Schulmanator: Thanks! I've seen your mediteranean cities, and I think they're pretty "paw"some 3.gif

Amerikaner: Thank you, lol, I was worried my BAT would destroy the quality because I'm not that good 3.gif

    gabry85:  lol, Thanks!

edmonton_stinks: Yea, I wanted a CJ like this so I can make a ton of different styles without making different threads. Thanks!

Mike the Mayor: Gracias, uhh... usted es muy amable 4.gif

    sanpedrooct105120822203tp4.jpg

The Royal Palace is home to the king and queen of San Pedro. It is heavily secured and protected by the military.

    sanpedrooct105120805472pi2.jpg

The Royal University is the oldest in the region, and was where many explorers were taught. Later on, in the 17th and 18th centuries, it became a hub of modern philosophy and liberal thought in a deeply conservative city.

And now onto a nearby city in San Pedro: Andaluz!

Here is a (under construction) region view of the river valley just west of San Pedro City.

    islasanpedro1208148432ckp9.jpg

    andaluzjun7011208063147lg3.jpg

Andaluz's old town looks chaotic from above, with a Kasbah-like Moorish streetplan.

    andaluzjun7011208063085vw2.jpg

Sitting above the city on the hill is the Alcazar Morisco, an old Moorish palace built by Islamic invaders from North Africa. After they left, the prayer hall was converted into a royal chapel and it was the summer residence for the royal family.

    andaluzjun1101120806317ge5.jpg

The Plaza Mayor nearby the river is where the city's heart is, with the Cathedral of St. Dominic and the market hall.

    andaluzjun1101120806321ka2.jpg

The highway between Andaluz and San Pedro City travels through expansive farms, olive groves, and sunflower fields. And of course, what would an Iberian-esque region be without an occasional bull-shaped Sangria billboard? 3.gif

your island looks great. i like the way the river flows through the landscape. i'm curious about how the city does look like.

i have a small question/note: the climat is a little bit different from the mediterranean and thats why i would say, you may think about some trees on the hills, because the growing limit/border is a bit higher in reference to the mediterranean climat.

    anyway - nice teaser

wow I can't believe I missed so many utterly amazing updates

    Andaluz was my favourite update.

Kind of like a combination of Cordoba and Granada.

The Alcazar reminds me of the Alhambra belive it or not, except the Alhambra is sooo much higher up in the mountains lol.

    Cheers, mate.
