Tropod,
Here is an idea I dont know if it can be added but how about two lane off/on ramps? We have those all over the Portland Metro area. This could be used with ones that have heavy traffic. What would be even better is create on ramps that have red/green lights for traffic control. Awesome job though on everything else.

Oh... thought of another idea. I might have to draw but I'll explain. For on/off ramps from road/avenue to hiway, make them cloverleaf type style. I dont know how much room that would make but I think it would look really kewl.

I downloaded this mod and can't get any of the pieces to work at all.. the pedestrian mall or any of the highway interchanges... the cursor just stays red.. am I missing something that I need in order for this to function?

Thanks

Make sure you do not have any older mods of this or other mods used in the game to enhance the traffic. Anything like Darkmatters traffic mods or traffic cop. Any of those will cause conflicts.

Hmmm... Maybe you havn't placed the items in the right place? You have WinZip, or WinRAR, right? They should automatically place the things in the right area.

Maybe you got a corrupted version. My Orthogonal interchange was just a red thing until i deleted it, rant he game one and got out, then placed it back in, and it seemed to work. Give that a try, if not, Tropod or someone else could help you! :) Have fun! 16.gif

    @Cactaur55;
    I find it odd that that would be happening. If UDI works with the whole thing, well I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't be used in general. You using one of the Perfect/Better Traffic Plugins? Also; I take it you have run this for quite a while when this was happening [as it can take awhile sometimes for these sorts of things to kick-in so to speak; Path Fixes that is].

    @Skippydam73;
     Two-landed Ramps does sound like a good idea. The thing would be getting someone to make that in BAT [first]. I'm not sure what you mean with the 2nd thing there you mentioned.

    Tropod,

    What I think he means by his cloverleaf suggestion is this:

    Instead of having straight ramps from the highway to the avenue, the ramps would make an arc to the avenue. The city of Bellevue here in Washington has/had some of these (I don't know if the ramps are still there...there has been some construction in that area)

    Well, I have let the time go by for about one year, and isn't the minimum supposed to be 6 months? Before the pathfinding fix, it went through the problem, now, it just does what I have shown... Unless... 7 months isn't enough or I have to replace it or something. Oh well, it's funny wathing how STEUUUPID the sims are. I use the better pathfinding plugin, but it made my computer lag a little bit more and I didn't like it, so I changed it to the lowest, so the sims would find some very interesting routes for me to laugh at. Is that why?

    hehe 38.gif
    Again, great stuff, Tropod! Now I can't live in SC4 without the Network Addon Mod! (I wish I could actually do something instead of just saying what works and not, but I have a knack of finding bugs 44.gif hehe off topic note)

    Tropod, oh great master, hehe

    What I mean is instead of a cloverleaf from hiway to hiway why not a clover leaf from hiway to avenue.  That way you can have free flowing traffic from the avenue onto the hiway in any direction and vice versa. If that doesnt quite do it Ill have to draw a picture.  44.gif

    Ok... I've removed the Network Mod from my plugin directory and redownloaded a new file and still it doesn't work. All I get is a red Arrow and a white square. I push TAB and nothing happens... I have seperate home and end keys... pressing each of them does nothing.

    Are there lots that could be conflicting? Such as any other network lots that have been created? I have all of the patches and all prop packs installed as well.

    I'm running an ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256 MB Video, WIndows XP Pro on NTFS on a striped set 400 GB Drive on SATA. 1 GB Physical RAM... Simcity Runs great otherwise... would love to use these mods.. but can't seem to get them to function.

    Am I missing any other prerequisites?

    Thanks,

    Don

    Ok folks, I've made an update to the main mod. See/Click the link in my Sig for details.
    As usual, any problems/questions people may have, please read/see the Q&A in the first instance thanks before posting here.

    @Skippydam73; I get what you mean now. I'll take a look, but someone would most likely probably have to create the necessary pieces first [with the BAT].

    @Leichhardt; Read the Q&A file included with the mod; & look for the appropriate question/answer.

    Hello,

    I'm trying to build a sunk highway surrounded by oneways in each direction and with the new mod bringing on the single entrances...

    The problem I have is pretty simple: when I place my normal entrance, my leftside oneway drop making some kind of banana road41.gif. When I put the reverse entrance, it just worked great...34.gif My question: how to make the normal entrance stay ok when I put it? Is it moddable?42.gif

    tropod, you should make new puzzle pieces that allow you to get a nice even lowered road. It would make building sunken roads and highways much easier.

    Folks;
    If the download doesn't work, well all I can say is try back later. I've had others try the link for me; I've tried it myself; & it works fine. So there may be a problem between your ISP and where the file is hosted; in which case it's out of my hands [beyond my control].

    WOAH!! How did you do that? Last time I tried (earlier today) it wasn't possible to have intersections like that.
    quote>

    the Monkeys Uncle: This feature has been in since April (according to the change log). To quote Tropod in his log, In order to build this intersection, draw the one-way road last and draw it only to/from the tile next to the road/avenue intersection. Meaning, after the avenue is placed, draw the normal road to connect to the avenue and cause a traffic light to be placed. Next, draw the one way road, but do not overlap the avenue. You should see the animation 'connect' the one-way to the avenue to make it flow.

    Let me know if you need more help. :)

    Edit: Just wanted to add ... punkz6, I love the look of that sunken highway. I haven't tried that yet, but I should soon. Did you use the hole digger lots to make the sunken highway path? I'd like to start makin them.

    I love the sunken highway too. Ah, so many possibilities.

    I was wondering - I DLed the latest version of the NAM (first time in like 2 months), and I love the new options.  That half-cloverleaf is great!  The only thing I would like to say, seconding another request I had seen earlier, is that we have a version of the half-clo that intersects a road or avenue as well, with signals at the intersections on both sides.  Is this possible?  Also, has there been any consideration to a true trumpet interchange?  Either highway-highway, highway-avenue, or highway-road?  I know I've asked before (as have others) but I don't really know if there was ever a response.

    Great job, however, you'll pull me away from BATing yet!

    i know that part of the holdup on new interchanges is the lack of BAT'ers to make them.  i'd bet a skilled BAT artist like you could do some great things for this project.  2.gif  after liberty towers of course...

    Technically, you'd think I would love that, after all, I design highways in real life.  The only problems I think are that I probably have way too much on my plate now (as does everyone it seems), and I'd probably be frustrated by the game's limitations.  I think I could make a decent looking interchange, I just don't think I could match the game very well.  Jersey barriers everywhere....blech!  Give me shoulders, superelevations, splitter islands, and grass medians any day!  Heck I could probably even draw up a roundabout if I felt like it, I'm working on one at my day job!  But that introduces another problem - I find gMax is far more difficult to draft in than MicroStation or AutoCAD (which coincidentally aren't 3D, not that I have problems visualizing 3D).  And I do have AutoCAD (R14), only problem is it doesn't work under XP.  Theoretically I could format my computer (as I do all too often) and set up a Windows 98 partition, but I haven't gotten around to that.  And I'm sure an AutoCAD to gMax translation, altough possible (?) probably isn't too pretty.

    Now then - and interpret this as you will - if someone started a project to totally fundamentally revamp the way highways in SC4 look, you might just get me on board.  Seriously, I'd consider taking on lead conceptual BATter along with my other projects, if something like that were to come about.

    Don't chew on that too long!

    I'll say it again; Redlotus made those Road/Avenue/Street type intersections; not I.

    @punkz6;
    I've had an initial look at this myself in-game; trying the same set-up as you have [well, similar]. I do find it a bit odd that one type of ramp will sink the terrain, yet the others don't. So I'll take a look at it & see what I can do.

    folk; the biggest draw back with trying to get/make any of this stuff, is actually getting someone good enough with BAT to make it & skin it [like TGC for example]. I've said it before; I'm a Modder at heart 11.gif9.gif, & I'm crap with bat [i don't deny it].

    I tried out the pedestrian malls today, with the most recent NAM (downloaded today), and it crashed my game. I had already plopped like 20 already, and I was trying to get it to plop on a tile that it for some reason mysteriously didn't want to go on, and then it crashed.

    Do me a favour; post a pic of your game; of the Mouse/Cursor with the Ped Mall Tiles on it [in other words; a pic showing that you have the Ped Mall Tiles active on the cursor]. Then post/attach it here.
