I've got to say, I really like your style of building cities. The layout is awesome, and those Dusktrooper trees really are the bomb!

One question, in the first photo on page 15, there is a row of flowers. Where did you get those? They really add a lot to the scene.

And again, awesome work. I'll be watching this one for sure!

Urland is still growing and expanding into new realms of possibilty with that great snow mod. Your city looks really great. Oh yeah, I noticed that row of flowers as well. Quite different, that row is.

Hey Bernhard, you're turning into a full fledged touristic guide my friend! 18.gif
I really liked those Istambul pics, I've always liked seeing the Hagia Sophia, quite an interesting building!
Never thought that Palm trees could tolerate snow!!!

    Thanks for those pics!

    Take care

Thanks, Bernhard, for proving that I'm not totally crazy (at least not when it comes to palm trees in the snow anyway 18.gif). What nice pictures of Istanbul! I never knew that's where you lived (guess I always figured it was Germany). Stay warm! 38.gif

Hey Bernhard. Sorry for not posting lately, I was just too busy to pay longer visits to ST during the last couple of weeks.

The first thing I saw when I checked your CJ were these palmtrees in the middle of snowy Istanbul. That was a strange view indeed... I've never been to Turkey, but I do like what I see from those pictures.

Now to your updates. I like hilly farms because they remind me of the farmlands in the foothills of the alps. But I also like the flat ones like the ones in W

Fabiocb: Thanks for stopping by my friend! There is a lot to do left in Urland so ... 2.gif

mayormommy: You are always welcome. But I must commit: when I saw my first palmtree in the snow here two years ago I couldn't believe it, too, now I am used to it.

About Germany, well, my CJ is a bit a homesickness cure since I moved to Istanbul 1 1/2 years ago for to live together with my wife ... 5.gif

Dave The Hokie: WOW!! 10 from 10 44.gif! You really like my CJ!43.gif

PhilsCafe: Glad to see you back my freind - I already missed you ... yes, those snowy palm trees are unusual, but when I saw them in the snow I remembered Dan's remark about the palm tree in the snow and so ...

Glad you like the flat part of Gleiwemünde, too. It'll stay a flat for a while because I don't flatten mountains as well as I dont raise mountains for no reasons. And I like this map from flamesrock, I searched quite a while until I found what I was looking for ..

Now for the update ... we are now going to enter the suburbs!

I like the two sides of this update Bernhard.

On one side there are the very nice looking farms on the one side of the Autobahn 2.gif: The details on the farms look amazing. Great use of farmland fences, dirt tracks and ploppable trees. The mixed farming/residential layout turned out beautifully, also the main alley. And aleking is right, that motel picture caught my attention too.

On the other side, the suburbs on the other side of the highway (okay, now that was complicated...). The exit looks very nice and I like the suburbs a lot, especially its upper-class feel. And I love the anecdotes / subruban rumours. Some people really seem to have no other worries than watching their neighbour's garden...

    Take care my friend.

    - Phil

Great looking CJ Nardo! I figured I better come take a look-see since you visit mine with frequency. Well worth the trip! Looks great! Two bunnies and a ducky at least 35.gif35.gif40.gif! I got some real good tips on rural layout. Gonna apply them in Landfall for sure.29.gif.

All I can say is WOW! Very impressive landscaping in this region and it really captures the feeling of the German countryside! It is also nice to see my row homes in use!

    Hey Bernhard, nice one!

    First pic
two things I like very much, superb placement of those trees alongside the road, and good use of the fences on that farm.

    Second and third pic
Good idea to use the avenue overpass and connect it to a road instead of an avenue, I like that.
And that SimGoober motel is a favorite of mine, so true to life.

    Fourth pic
Ahhh the glamour 2.gif. I particularly like that side road (along the highway) just before the gas station. Wich leads to...

    The fifth pic
Very nice looking suburb! good use of green spaces and parks.

    Sixth pic
Humm, Rumor as it that Mrs Muller is taking those lessons to improve her fingering. People are so narrow minded tssss... 21.gif And such a nice neighborhood predispose to music 2.gif
Ahhhh! listening to Fuhr Elise or the Moonlight sonata.... hummm back to topic

    Seventh, eight and ninth pic
The tennis court, have you heard about young Karl who gives lessons to old Frau Sc.... 22.gif nahhhh! rumors again! (good setup by the way for the baseball diamond and the courts) 44.gif

Nice night pic to finish it all

Good one my friend, and interesting mini-story line (again so true to life) you had me laughing there! 18.gif

Take care and enjoy the rest of the week!

really nice update Bernhard, I like it a lot, and one question, on the farm (cow one), on the first pic, I see it has fences, are they plopped or a mod?

    Keep on the great work.

I have completly missed this update.

You have had more snow in Istanbul than I have seen here in Holland this winter, always strange to see this southern flora in the snow.

Yeah, this could indeed be Wisteria Lane.
Wonderful looking suburbs with great diversity of buildings and trees, as always very well put together.

    Hello to All!

So, this will be the first update in the new ST forum. Hopefully that ol' bone o' me is able to cope with that much of change ... face-icon-small-happy.gif

Hmm, no preview, huh, this is going to be hard ... and no more my old fornat tags ... geee, do I have to reformat all of my old updates or what? face-icon-small-blush.gif

Alek(aleking) Actually the motel is not grown but plopped by purpose ... it not only seemed to fit there perfectly but it was also a nice quote a movie noone seemed to recognise ...

Phil(PhilsCafe) Thanks for the compliment. Especially since I was not 100% happy how the area turned out at the Autobahn. About the motel: See my reply to Aleking.

There will be some more small stories in this updates. I am no Mr.Cinatit or Radioheadfan or ShadowAssasin but if I "see" a mini storyline I'll write it ...

CDI_spy Thanks for the compliment. That Winnipeg reference is a classic one from my schooltime btw to show effect on warm gulf stream on Europe. The German town Mainz for example which lies perfectly to the east of Winnipeg on the other side of the Atlantic has maximum 10-15 cm snow in Winter (but way more rain than snow)

mudspreader Thanks for the bunnies and the ducky! Glad I could guve you some inspirations!

jacqulina Glad you like it! Altough we went through the whole rural belt of Gleiwem

    Hey Bernhard,
Hummm, The historical content found in your updates is amazing! For instance, that baron story was quite informative! face-icon-small-wink.gif
BTW I'm also looking for that carriage return in Firefox... (Only thing that works so far is to use the HTML "BR" command)
Perhaps Mrs Muller neighbor will retain the services of "Von Schotter, Kohlen & Reibach"... face-icon-small-smile.gif
I agree, the servants wages are so high that some of them can even afford the golf club membership fee! Intolerable! face-icon-small-wink.gif
I really like the glof club neighborhood, it is an "upper crust" sector but not so much as to exclude some of life basic necessity as a Pizza joint! Rich or not everyone enjoys a good pizza!
And that highrise is perfect for that sector, fits right in.
    My friend, another great update.
Hoping that your snow is now melted, here we're still buried under the white stuff!
    Take care!
