Dirk a Thunderbirds Fan?

I think that Drik or whoever designed the website logo may be a Thunderbirds fan!  Take a look:

The ST label:

The image

The Thunderbirds label:

The image

(Keep in mind this logo was made in the 1960s and thus wasn't 3d.  This was the most 3d logos got in that day.)

The first time I saw the site in the current design it is presently in, my first reaction was: "Hey, this looks like the Tunderbirds logo!".  There are times in some of the episodes when the logo is rotated in a fashion to make it look a little more 3d, but thats about it.

Interesting, eh?  Here's a quick intro of the show to show you how the Thunderbirds logo just jumps out at ya:

Anyways, I thought I should share that with ya.  Anyone a Thunderbirds fan out there?  It was my favorite show as a kid.

Best,

-Haljackey

I dunno... this could just be a coincidence. In fact, I'd assume it is unless dirk says otherwise. Because yes, the two logos may be somewhat similar in style, but they're nowhere near being dead spitting images of each other, and there's also nothing really that special or unique about the design which would make it improbable that two people came up with it completely independent of each other.

Also bear in mind that the logo you see isn't the original logo. This was the original logo:

And later it was this (similar but not identical to the first one):

The current logo has only actually been the logo since about September '05:

Ah, I remember that one!  It was before I became a member here, I lurked through the forums since about 2004 and finally joined in 2005.

Oh, and its cool that we have some Thunderbirds fans here!  I loved it as a kid, it was so cool!  I saw the re-imagined movie they made from it a few years ago, and it stank!

-(Just like SCS is re-imagined SC classic!)

    Best,

Dirk is a Rybolten fan, Rybolten is a Samantha fan, Samantha is a Joesocwork fan, Joesocwork is a MrCinatit fan, MrCinatit is a SkiGeek fan, SkiGeek is an Abcvs fan, Abcvs is a Sixers33 fan, Sixers33 is a Zane900 fan, and Zane900 isn't a fan of anyone.

So, ultimately Dirk is a Zane900 fan.

(Sorry I couldn't get most of the mods in there, but I was a bit afraid that a few more "_______ is a _______ fan"s and the sentence, as startling as it may seem, might actually have gotten boring.)

^^^you should have just ended it with "SkiGeek is a dirk fan". Then you'd have a nice infinite loop of admin fandom.5.gif

Though, that still leaves the admins of the past (Aronion, ralphaelninja, SimJez, Hodges, and - of course - the ever fluffy golfbunny) unaccounted for...

    ...oh, and it's "Rybolton".

People seem to have an instinct to capitalize proper names. Which is a good thing, mind you, but when someone's username on a forum is not capitalized in their profile, it becomes rather ambiguous as to whether it should be capitalized elsewhere. Often, it's a matter of personal preference. Especially since usernames aren't cases sensitive. abcvs is Abcvs is abCVs is aBcVS, etc. so far as the software is concerned.

I personally prefer to capitalize names as they appear in the profile, but others may simply prefer to "properly" capitalize everything. Capitalizing a name that isn't capitalize in the profile is often acceptable. Note that he capitalized his own name in his post even though it isn't capitalized in his profile. Misspelling the name, however, is never "acceptable".

See, I avoided this problem by taking care that my username was capitalized. 34.gif

Well the problem is that abcvs is not really a name as it is an acronym...

    A - Airway

    B - Breathing

    CVS - Cardio Vascular System

The first three priorities of a Recovery Room Nurse, which I was up until August last year...

    Incidently... it carries on...

D - Drips, drugs, drains, documentation

    E - Everything else

    F - Fone the ward....  9.gif

So I suppose it should really be ABCVS rather than abcvs...  but then it is hard to remember what I was thinking when I first registered...

(which incidently is coming up to my first anniversary...  but I digress..)

... my first idea for a username was actually Mr Sister...  cos I am a nurse..  but then I thought it might cause be some gender identity issues...

Anyway as you can see my abcvs is captialized in my sig banner, but then I did not actually make it... which complicates things further, because we now need to psyco-analyise the mind of the person who made it for me...

Nothing is ever simple is it?

Oh and what do I get for being a member of ST for one year?
