I bet it will be just a crappy expansion pack for a crappy game. Who knows, maybe they will add streets!

judging by the title "destinations" it will probably be an attempt to recreate what rush hour did to SC4 although I don't see it working out as well. Sorry if I seem defeatist....

You can 2.gif !

I'm not convinced by City Life also, i think best "Simulation" is SC4 with Rush Hour + STEX, i have a question : how work STEX ?

But SC4 is too hard for me and i like place buildings where i want when i want and when i can (with Strategic Mode in Sim City Societie)

In fact i'm consiidering SCS like a good Life-Simulator with City-buiilding a few limited in domain of transportations, but the rest is ok 4.gif

As result : SCS => good "simulator-of-life rather than city-builder" but not a "simulation"

That is the reason why i'm full of hopes with this add-on...

New patch is coming in two weeks : fixes fixes and fixes 2.gif

That's not very much information to go by. It would be nice if they added the features already present in SC4 that are missing like highways and region play. The only areas SCS shines above SC4 is the sandbox mode and the graphics. Other than that, they have a lot of ground to make up to surpass SC4.

Joe I wish you wouldn't jump quickly to conclusions like that. SimCity 4 itself had an expansion pack and SimCity 3000 had an "unlimited" and "world edition" with a number of add-ons.

Take all that makes SC4 great....

Zones

roads and rails

stratigy

regions

brake into little bit size pieces and sell it ala' cart

SCS base = $40

add zones for only $19.95.... now whats SC without zones... you have to buy...

Cha- ching

Your freedom is the most expensive thing you have, even if you arn't the one that paid for it... Use it well.

Next is going to be SCS: Completely Remade! (Expansion pack remaking the game to what the real SC5 should have been in the first place.)

By the sounds of things this is either going to be adding A. More Transport options B. Regional Play or C. absolutely nothing interesting or useful whatsoever (like an airport made from cheese cake)

Sounds like some kind of sims expansion pack. Imagine the hilarity if it just added new terrains.

The difference between SC4 and Societies is we SC players are a tad bit smarter and don't fall for silly little tricks like 10 expansions.I say wait a year or then try again but don't treat us like Sim players.

Oh I am quite sure if SC4 had like 3 more expansion packs, the vast majority of the people here would have bought them right away -- regardless of the time span in which they came out.

The proper destination for this? The garbage dump, of course. 2.gif

SC4, Forevermore!

Currently preoccupied with architecture school...lurking with caution.

If this community hadn't stepped up to plate like it has then yes we would have with no choice bought expansions. But this community has outdone any expansion EA could have offered.

EA isn't about the game anymore it's about the bottomline. Some poor idiot will buy this Societies Expansion then come here complaining.

Bluebeard, that seems to be a bit of a downplay on what Rush Hour provided to the community, isn't it? I mean, compare the work of the community before and after that expansion pack. Can you imagine if Maxis made more? Money-Money-Money!

Yes Rush Hour did some improvements but it was this community that took it further.I really doubt EA or TM could ever come close to what this community has done and I really doubt EA or TM really gives a crap what the players want.

Once you remove the gamer from the design process it's all about money thus you will end up with Societies.

Problem Maxis probably had was that they simply ran out of Idea's... an expansion pack filled with building probably couldn't cut it since the fans already had the tools to make the game better for themselves. EA basically forced all the old Maxis workers into doing TS2 hard labour, while Will Wright has buggered off to do Spore. I dunno if you've noticed, but EA have destroyed all traces of Maxis... they've gradually removed all the logo's and stuff from the TS2 expansions. Its like they've been assimilated by the freaking Borg!

Not having gotten SCS I think it would be intriguing to discover what Tilted Mill thought needed to be changed or added so soon.

I suspect that the success of both Sim City and The Sims probably really has been fan involvement with custom content.  But I also think that expansion packs and stuff packs when they are timed well and actually enhance game play can be a good subtle marketing way of displaying involvement and thoughtfulness by the game makers.

In my opinion, Rush Hour enhanced SC4.  But then EA Games stopped with just that and has made it seem as if they neglected Sim City's fan.  I think most of The Sims EP's actually made game play much better. But they've come out as such a rapid clip that it has made the game makers appear exploitive and leaving fans wondering why the enhancements weren't part of the original to begin with.  Now, without a strong fanbase, a Sim City Societies expansion pack really does make a gamer (who cares) wonder exactly what the game maker wants to specifically accomplish.
