Ok, I've given up trying to find a download that will allow me to terraform the region all at once, which sucks, but I've read about manually changing the city amount and size in a region via the red, blue, and green images on each region file. I don't know how to do this though and if one of you could help me that would be great. I have a MacBook OS X, just incase that matters.

There is a file called config.bmp (the one with the red, blue, green squares) located in each region folder, this one determines the size and number of cities in your region. Now, with any image editing software, you should be able to open it, and mess around with the number and size of cities (so long as no city was saved beforehand), you can only add cities on the bottom and left sides of a region (if I recall correctly). Look for these region folders in Documents/Sim

City 4/Regions. Hope that helps.

Ok, thanks. I know that this sounds like a newbie question, but I don't know if MacBook OS X has image editing software. I got it just a little while ago and I don't have photoshop software or anything (that I know of). Also, if I do find image editing software, do you know how to mess with it so that it will do what you want? I'm trying to make a region with just a few large cities so that I won't have to do as much terraforming. Edit: Alright, I have the config picture up (with the red, blue, and green squares), but I have no clue how to edit it. It opens up in a preview program and I've tried to open it up with a photoshop CS2 demo that I just downloaded, but it says that it doesn't recognize the file. I have the thing and I know how to edit it to make it work, but I just don't know how to get a program to edit it with.

Yeah, I've checked here and a lot of other places. I did get some cool downloads off this site, but not what I originally wanted. Thanks though.

Here ya go.  Almost as good as Photoshop, and it's free.

If you or someone you knows has an extra copy of Windows, you could use Boot Camp to use SC4Terraformer, though if there isn't any other reason for you to use Windows, it wouldn't be worth it to buy a copy.

For the config, red squares are small cities (1x1 pixel), green squares are medium cities (2x2 pixels), and blue squares are large cities (4x4 pixels).

Thanks, but it says that I need an X11 program to install and I found the X11 program, but it won't let me install it to my hard drive. I did find a program called pixelmator  and I downloaded the demo, but I still can't edit the green, red, and blue squares. What happens is though, like I said a few posts back, whenever I open the config it automatically opens into a preview program and I can't edit it or open the config into a new image editing program like the pixelmator program.

Hmm, well I do have Photoshop CS, but it isn't a preview version, so it is possible that the Photoshop demo does not support bitmap files, which would be odd. Though, I have to correct one thing Bwatterud said, is that the blue squares are four x four pixels, not three x three. Well, I hope that you can find something to edit those squares with, good luck!

I just downloaded the 30 day trial for Adobe Photoshop CS3 and I have the config picture pulled up in it and I know what to, but it won't let me do it. It keeps saying the layer is locked, and on the icon thing in the bottom right of the photoshop thing it has a locked icon next to the layer. If someone could help me that would be very much appriciated.

At the moment I've forgotten how to unlock a layer. Could it also be a restriction of the CS3 download or is PS CS3 trail version not crippled?

There is a shareware program also out there that has a good reputation, "GraphicConverter". THe interface is a little different than PS but it is much cheaper if you want something to do the basic jobs over the long term.

I know its not really a full answer...

    Ok, look in the omnibus.

So, Installing a Region Downloaded from the STEX tells you how to download a region from the STEX, must be a normal greyscale file.

And, CONFIG.BMP: How To Make It, and How To Make It Yours will tell you how to make a config.bmp. Thats if you havent figured that out already.
