Honestly, I kinda like it. I mean, I always liked just building sandbox style, just designing it however I want without pushy people telling me what to do. 3.gif Plus you can mod almost anything, at least if you know how to use XML. I think it's better than City Life because there is more possibility for other styles of citybuilding, rather than those ugly tenements that pop up next to mansions or those annoying culture clashes. But Sc4 will always be better than Sc:S.

EA may be an evil corporation, but so are millions of others. (*cough* including BP *cough*) What makes EA any different than other rich corporations, like McDonald's or Walmart? If you hate EA so much for being a greedy corporate moneysucker, you might as well boycott our entire economy, since we're all at some level greedy. Maybe except the Dalai Llama or the Pope, but they don't play video games. 3.gif

what the hell is BP stand for?

Unfortunately for us, EA's take on any game is that there are tried and tested formulae in every genre for 'what works.' Add to this their ethos that 'simplicity is profitability' and we have some very big problems. EA are not risk-takers. They find franchises and concepts that work, and they squeeze and squeeze until there's nothing left but a dried-out old husk that nobody wants any more. But the gaming community is changing, and EA don't seem to realise this. The average age for a gamer is going upwards at a steady rate, and churning out cookie-cutter kiddie-crap just isn't going to cut it any more.

Case in point: RPGs. everyone knows how a European RPG plays... it's about dice-rolls and forests and yada-yada-yada, you know the routine. It's a gaming formula that works. Why tamper with it?

So why is The Witcher such a bloody god game, if it goes and takes strides into uncharted RPGing territory? EA have the position of power and the resources to create games like Thw Witcher, that push in new directions, utilise modern technology, zeitgeist and other forms of media to produce truly groundbreaking pieces. Instead, they string up the carcasses of our beloved games like pinatas, beating them with tired and predictable programming until all the money's fallen out.

To the guy who beat down SSX... I for one thought it was really fun!

lol...

As for EA - They're not in that corner where they make games for a niche market. There are plenty of developers out there. They're a gaming machine - and they sell products. Most of the time, casual gamers find them really fun. If you want something to fill a niche market, then buy from one of those developers. The only reason they ever acquired Maxis was because of The Sims, really. That game appealed to thier marketing. Sim City is one of those games with a naturally small market - its understandable that they'd wish to try and expand that market in some manner.

why is BP a bad thing? Arent they trying to find cleaner sources of stuff, or are they just trying to look like that? Please explain.

reply to above:

i dont think EA is the only one (not defending them) making simpler games. Look at ubisoft. I never played a MMORPG, but iunno look at blizzard, but i like their games, at least WC and SC. Hell even look at Valve! Team fortress 2 is quite obviously considerably dumbed down when compared to TFC and Q*****, EA isnt the only one here, but them doing it doesnt help much.
