Two teens decapitate man and burn body

This kind of shocked me, although I guess it shouldn't in today's world, but two teens lure a guy into their garage and kill him (decapitate him and burn his body)- simply because they wanted the thrill of killing someone. I mean, wow, if this isn't a good reason to not trust anyone you meet, then I don't know what is. The world is becoming so scary 15.gif

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071112/UPDATE/711120428/1361

This happened in Northville, a place with very little crime (and virtually no homocides). I guess the guy did owe one of the teens money, and he was listed on the sex offender registry - but the two teens say neither played a role in their killing him. They said they did it because they wanted the thrill of killing someone.

This just sickens me. I know a lot of my friends who like watching things suffer and die. That is why they play games like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4. I mean, how would either of those punks (yes, I'm being hypocritical here) like it if they just walked into some kids garage and he got brutally tortured? I have but one question: does the state that Northville is in still have the death penalty? Here's a case where it's really deserved.

All killing is bad, I don't mind the games though. It really sickens me when people think these games are real and do this kind of thing.

Blegh. Sadly, I'm not suprised by this.

Kids these days are so cruel and cause so much trouble. I don't think it's GTA that's the problem, I think it's their parents who should teach their children moral values. For example, I've played GTA alot, but I would never even think of killing someone because I was raised to know what's right and what's wrong.

    This is so sick.

Blaming games for this is just pure stupidity, that's just pushing this socieitie's problems over on something else. Clearly these teens had a few  bots missing in their heads, and were downright psychopats.

panthersimcity4; right1 I do the same thing. I play GTA, but I never would think of killing someone.

But GTA is kind of the problem, but the one game that really sickens me is Manhunt, That game should go to HELL!!!!!

Manhunt could be one of those games that inspires people to kill.

I wouldn't go so far as to say people who play Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 like watching things suffer and die... I play both, but I hate horror movies, and I'd eventually like to become a paramedic.

Back on topic... This is really just sick. Hopefully they are tried as adults, and put in jail for a long, long time.

Uuh, people just blame video games because they're the perfect scape goat for their crimes... I've played Manhunt many, many, many times throughout and I found it thouroughly enjoyable, but I ain't killed anyone... its just a game, it doesn't inspire me to do anything. GTA is the same, i've played every GTA for countless hours ever since I was 10 and i've STILL not yet Carjacked someone.

Video Games cannot inspire to kill, its all about self control... and if you can't control yourself and blame video games for your actions, you REALLY need to spend some time in Prison...

I play lots of violent games but this sickens me too and I think they only deserve death.

I maybe feel naive, but, how do you find someone who wants to murder with you a man in that way? I don't get it, it's just insane...

I've been "forced" to watch films like Hostel before, they are not pretty, and I think films like that are the cause of stuff like that. Games to some extent, but Halo is Sci Fi and CoD is a war sim, neither have anything to do with torture or suffering. Films like Saw and Hostel are grotesque and should be banned IMO, can't see how anyone gets anything other than cringes out of them, and they do nothing to help this kind of state in out society.

But anyway, these kids need locked up. They need locked up forever... And if the Death Penalty still exists here, then it is certainly deserved in this case...

what do games and horror movies even have to do with this? Nothing in the article mentioned any of that.

Personally, I dont agree with the death penalty... its not because i'm a morally corrupt hippy or anything, it just I believe people suffer more in Prison... and people like this deserve to suffer.

Well, American Prisons anyway... the Prison system in the UK has gotten waaay too soft.

I think it could be IMHO about their background. News hardly speak about this.

i'm pretty sure manhunt does NOT inspire people to kill other people, in fact, it should be a catharsis and reduce people's want to kill others.

These kids were desensitized to the idea of killing a person.  Wonder how that happened?

What video games have they been playing?

What movies have they been watching?

What kind of parents (if any) did they have?

Were they members of any family?

There are times when the death penalty should be invoked.  These kids now have a free ride for life courtesy of the State of Michigan.

You're right Burro. The death penalty doesn't seem right here. It's like Gandhi said. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Make them suffer. With what they did, they'll rot in prison.

There's nothing new under the sun...this has echoes of the Leopold and Loeb case from circa 1924 (Clarence Darrow defended the boys). The thrill kill idea is as old as civilization.

Interestingly enough, it was blamed on Nietzsche's philosophy, before TV and video games.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

    According to Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,310578,00.html

One of the teens (Letkemann)  family was shocked by the news, but is standing by his side.

Ugh that was horrible. Just shows how video games, past events (like Columbine or 9/11 for example), and movies can tie up someone's brain so much to the point as to do something like this. Horrible!

I play Counter Strike: Source almost everyday and it doesn't affect me at all. Do I want to kill people? Absolutely not. Chances are, these people use these games to feed upon something in their minds that they've had for a long time... the desire to kill. The games don't begin the path to violence; in fact, some could argue that video games actually allow people to vent.
