As I stated in the NAM development thread I want to do something with the elevated rails for avenues. There is a lack of them. and they are needed to add flexibility to this already wonderful system.

As of November 9th I have 3 canidates for the design in order to see what the results would be. Once the designs are looked at and evaluated they will be tested by lotting. I will need some assistance with coding, But that will come later on in this process.

The Canidates

The usual T Shape, Honestly I dont neccessarly like it but it seems to function well.

The 'M' Shaped support system . It seems to make the Avenues more avalible and open. Plus it seems to better match the other El over Road network or Street network pieces.

A hybrid of the T and M shaped support systems. Which brings me to say that this if possibly my favorite. It is a triple beam Which makes it rigid and stirdy. But may take up too much space. But it was designed to allow trains to travel on it right of way and in a wide non consticted space that is too narrow. The middle pole may be worrying though.

Anyway give me feed back on each canidate or 1 of them or 2 of them , Your choice. I would love to have as much support as possible with this project.

I prefer Style 1 myself, less supports, less clutter! Anyways, best of luck with the project!

BTW, if you added a poll, you could find out what people think more accurately and easily! 4.gif

Edit:  You did!

I suggest an alternative! you should make 2 (or 3)x 1 segments with a graceful arch between supports. with supports in the middle

Its ploppable like GLR right?

3 is unquestionably the best looking, but 2 is probably the best compromise of looks and in-game functionality.

I voted for Other because I thought it would be easier to make this if you used existing models, so your used the Ave/GLR puzzle pieces as a template, edit out the GLR tracks and then add the current Elevated Rail models to it quickly and easily.

i agree with engineerisme! style 1 looks very slim and it's not space consuming.. with style 2 or 3 you will get that your avenues are getting very full with pillars and sidewalks will also be full of pillars.

I like number one, as the support takes up the least space, leaving space for sidewalks.

I like style 1 and style 2. Style 3 is too cluttered with pillars. Also, would it be possible to build AERL with an option for 4 El-Rail tracks over the avenue? I have some cities where I have 2 or even 3 El-Rail lines right next to each other to ease congestion on the lines.

I like style 2 it reminds me of the elevated rail lines in Chicago or, formerly, New York. I agree with Raritan Express that style 3 looks too cluttered. Style 1 doesn't look very sturdy to me but, that could change as you flesh out the models later. This mod could be put to very good use in CJs.
