gabry85 you obviously do not understand what I was trying to say. YOU can say if you don't like it, but DO NOT be sarcastic or rude to others who say that they do. We can go ahead and express our opinion, but when someone says they are fine with 10x10, then we shouldn't come along and write sarcastic comments like 'Right'. It is plain RUDE. Why can't people be respectful.

YOU have every right to YOUR opinion, but putting down anothers, to try and show MC that regions need to be in the game is not the way to go about it mate. Sorry.

AND when Societies was released, there was a HUGE amount of hate on the TM forums about the game. The thing was that it was far too late to cahnge anything. They showed us the product only a few months before release. I do not remember large groups of people praising the game AT ALL.

When I was 'sarcastic' I wanted to highlight that even if one person is okay with something, it could be a problem for somebody else. In this case: one map/no regions = I'm happy/you're not. This is not being sympathetic, IMHO. That's why I answered with that. Remember the "10x10km" thread (when you, me and tr0ub1e joked about karma 2.gif)? I said that with Region Play, people who don't like it can make one map anyway, but those who have only one map can't make regions. Win-win like they say.

Then you obviously didn't read TM forums I linked in my previous post! If you don't have time to look at them all, just look at this particular thread for example (there are tons of them throughout the forum created by SC4 fans as you know). Read the posts of those who registered BEFORE Jun 2007.

OK, for those who are too lazy to open a new tab and take 5 minutes to read, I'll quote some random posts from these members right here:

TM members come on the forum and all your propositions will be read and welcome.quote>

Not to be rude but can you guys please grow up and act mature about this. The game hasn't even came out yet alone hasn't even been announced. We seen little of the game. I am giving TM a chance. Who knows this could be the best sim city game to date.quote>

Also, the game hasnt even come out, niether have you even gotten a chance to try it in beta-test (as far as I know), so youre basically looking at a couple screenshots and whining because it doesnt look like SimCity

Give me a break and go back to playing SimCity 4 or something... 41.gifquote>

Screenshots are hardly adequate to give you the feel of a game. Its like judging a book by its cover...

Wait until theres a demo, or hope that with all your TM-hating, and lack of constructive criticism, that you get a chance to test it... then youll be able to make an informed opinion about the game.

I only dont like it because its not a historical CB, or maybe TM is doing two projects and well get the CB too... *shrugs* Ill still test SCS for them if they offer me simply because Im a TM-fan. 2.gifquote>

    Deja vu, anyone? 6.gif

Look, I don't want to bring this game down and I have no reasons for that. I don't seek 'revenge.' I'm just reporting some actual facts of what's been said around the Net. Plain and simple, nothing changed or biased. It's easy to cheer when you see screenshots, but I simply don't stop at them: that was MY mistake with City Life. And since I have to make a choice and spend my money on a product of which I know very little, I reasonably need to know what's really about. And so far I learned that most of what I was looking for from the beginning is out, but MAYBE they'll include them afterwards. Then, MAYBE I'll buy it.

Am I wrong when I say this?

Actual facts? Those weren't random posts, or people praising the game to high heaven. Those were mainly, not even all since you included gstommylee in this, TM fans who were objecting to the absolutely despicable way many SimCity fans went into that forum and started flinging poo around like a collection of particularly dim monkeys. Reacting in a mature way really isn't the same thing as being a gullible consumer who gets lured in by the pretty pictures. 20.gif

gabry85, that does not excuse you being rude or sarcastic! THAT IS MY POINT! One person of so many has said they are happy with 10x10. He is very much in the minority. WHY have a go at his opinion? HE is entitled to it. That is what you fail to understand mate. It won't make MC think they should keep the 10x10, it won't be the be all end all for regions. The person is entitled to say what he/she wants to say without any sarcasm thanks. I totally AGREE with you about regions. I really really do. But please ,do not justify putting someone elses view down just so you can get what you want. That isn't cool IMO.

And why would I want to go and visit those links? I have better things to do! I could care less with what happened to SCS. It is old news for me. Lets move on shall we?

I think the screenshots look pretty good, some of the best-looking city simulator pics ever. SimCity 4 still looks crisper, and it certainly looks better than SCS.

But pictures don't make a good game. And if you're like this after seeing the pictures:

Those are their words not ours. Furthermore that is what  they  are  saying  to  E3  which happens to be much more influential then we are.

So do i listen to you fukuda or do i listen to their marketing director at E3, Seems to me they are willing to tell different crowds different things. A sure way to lead to dissappointment and confusion. Can you really blame anyone with being rather dissappointed by this??.

This is by no means a complaint. Just an accurate representation of what is coming out of their departments and their marketing director.

I myself will not be dissappointed since i will wait and see since i almost never purchase software on release.....but i know what is being said in some circles is rather misleading.

Again who does the public believe.....their marketing director advertising to the world at e3 or...... fukuda........

Alrighty then, let´s look at the acutal quote:

How will this be an MMO? Does it redefine the genre, or simply introduce something fresh?

Well, here's the thing: it's not just an MMO. At launch, the game can actually be purchased off the shelves at your favorite retail store and

    played as a single-player city-builder, much like SimCity 4.

Yet, at any time, you can go beyond the single-player experience to jump into the online mode. Alexandre tells us that this is a great feature for Monte Cristo, because it will appeal to two distinctly different groups of players, while offering the opportunity for each to crossover.quote>

Now, English might not be my first language, but I know enough of it to see that saying "you can play it in single player, like you did with SimCity 4" is a bit different from saying "you can play it in single player, where it will be exactly like Sim City 4 as we've promised you from the start because you are all gullible walking wallets". They're still saying they are making their own game, not a a CL or SC4 sequel.

Nothing in that article, nothing that was said on forums or in interviews has indicated, like you say, that they are telling different crowds different things. Different crowds are pretty obivously asking about different things, which is why *shock, horror* a site dedicated to MMO's asks more about the online side of things, while SimCity sites ask more about the singleplayer side.

Very well, mpol, you got the point. I apologize for being sarcastic.

But I still defend my position: opinions are welcome, but IMHO at least they should say why they're fine with something TODAY that (again, IMHO) might regret TOMORROW (when they paid and installed the game in their computers). Because often times when somebody gets a game saying "OMG!", then after a couple of months says "YAWN!" because they can't do what they thought was possible after looking at a screen YESTERDAY.

I too experienced that with countless games. City Life fits perfectly in this case.

People should think through when they're fine with something because of a picture and a couple quotes. Even though a 10x10km map is definitely larger than the SC4's 4x4km map AND you say you're fine with that today, you might think differently when you'll learn what it means to crash against 4 creativity walls tomorrow. Too bad you already paid a full price for that, but if you give me something more, I'll fix your problem... One day... Perhaps...

That said, people are free to make their own decision.

P.S.: I love your new sig at the CitiesXL.com forum. They always say they don't shoot at their feet when [insert issue here]. How about their heads then? (I'm just kidding) 3.gif

HAHA thanks mate. I thought it fitted the mood or the tounge in cheeck attitude well.

I mean, it's like they want more money so we get no regions. LMAO! It is what will happen to the game if we don't get them I believe.

Any City Builder aimed at city management will be "much like simcity" as it literally created the gameplay. This in no way means that it will be a sequel of SC4... All RTS are alike, but Company of Heroes is not the sequel of Sudden Strike in any way

Usually the public listens to what it wants to hear. I don't ask you to believe me, it's been said several times in this forum and other ones, and was also in the old CXL FAQ.

I don't like how people don't appreciate games.

You try building one and see how it goes..

I think it's just perfect. It's the most realistic city builder game i've seen...

I played the game a couple times today and they have filler for those spaces between a road and a building, when an empty spot that just doesnt fit a building, you know? There is a filler that you can pick and it automatically fills up those wierd empty "spots" and it is PRETTY. Even odd spots that are caught between some curved road, an angled road, like whatever type, it gets filled up with a pretty filler.

Well put it this way, it can't be any worse than City Life or SimCity Societies or any of the other games based on a small city grid with obstacles you can't build on and having to constantly destroy buildings to upgrade something else then running our of room within a few hrs LOL

got my beta but the game is not working atm due to various issues there end.
