I couldn't resist after having a communal chat today on Simtropolis and finding about the ever exciting and looming prospects of SimCities Socities arriving to our shelves soon.

Upon my shopping day, I inquired with EB game store and I found out that its release date in Australia should be the 15/11/07 and the price is $99.95 AU.

I have also attached the game cover for you 4.gif

Caution picture is big.

Why would they put the very first shot of the game that was released on the back?

If you look in the lower left hand corner, it does say "Promotional Packaging Only". 4.gif

Translation: Marketing Material. It may or may not be the final one.

On Ea's SCS site they have created the main web page with the front logo as shown on the game cover. I greatly feel that it will definitely be the final front cover, but as for the back cover, I agree Josh, that could greatly change 4.gif

For the packaging, i think the front and back cover are close from final shots we may see when the boxes will be available on shelves. One thing missing on front cover is the "tilted mill" logo, since this time EA is only the publisher, and Tilted Mill the developper. I write this because i just compared with my box of Black & White 2 where both EA and Lionhead Logos are on front cover. For the back cover, i think this is most likely to be the same, except for the bottom part, where the green "general" may be replaced by the barcode, and the "promotional packaging only" by the system requirements of the games, like almost every games sold now. I wouldn't be surprised if there is an announced release date of November 15th that the game is now RTM (Release to Manufacure, ie the master shipped to duplication and packaging factory), or close to be, since for such a game lauch, this means several hundred of thousands boxed to produce, worldwide, that can take time to produce. If not, i think RTM shouldn't be farther than two weeks now if they want to be on such a schedule.

If you haven't got anything nice to say toxic, don't say anything at all! I fully support TiltedMill and the game they have produced. I think the cover looks great.

Not tilted mill, EA silly. (Hence the EA logos all over it). I would have thought that you would be insane to put a picture of an alpha of the game on the back.

Still its not a nice thing to say toxic regardless what company its been aimed at, the cover looks great to me, plus its the product I want, not the cover.

Just glanced back at the price. Is 99.99 expensive in Australia?

Most games go for A$99.99 here on release, collectors edition for $110, XBox 360 games for $110 as well.

I would call that expensive. The last new release game I bought was $89.99, the previous one was $79.99 and I think SC4 might have been $69 or $59. I think the last Sims EP I got was $49.99. So I think they've gone up quite a lot in recent years.

If this one's price is $99 then I don't think I'll be buying it, even if I think I'll really like it.  Way too expensive for me. 15.gif

    Thanks for the info though.

I think games have been $89.99 for many years, with everything else increasing in price with inflation I'm not surprised that it's up to $99. Most of the new release games are $99.99 now :-(

Not really a spolier to me and I'm sure a lot of others.

Still thanks a lot for the infomation. Does anyone know how much it will cost in the UK?

I agree the cover could be changed slightly:

"The most versatile city building game ever until CU"

"Make the city of your dreams using the to-be realeased CU"

Ahh well, I'd thought it'd be fun posting the cover considering no one has posted such warrior, for your question regarding price in UK, divide $99.95AU by 2.5 = 39.98 pounds approx in my opinion warrior and yes $99 here in Australia is very expensive, considering an average EA game is about $60. I'm going to wait it out before I buy SCS not only because of price, but I am wanting to get a new computer built ready for the more advanced games being released by EA in the next upcoming years.

Is it? I know C&C3, Half-Life 2, Civ 4 and so on were all at least $89.95 and up to $99.95 in most cases.

That front cover looks a lot better than the actual game. If only the game was as clean cut and perfected as that image suggests.

And yes T_C that was semi-negative. Sue Me.

I am not forking out $99 for a half arsed cartoon game.....

But when it gets to around $45 then i might consider it. CU is the game for me.

Honestly I don't get it. You call it a city builder when all you do is plop buildings and your Sims react to it. Why don't they notice that its more of a Sims game than a city builder?

Oh joy.. No thanks.. I'll just buy Cu instead when it comes...

The game simply doesn't look very good nor appealing, and it looks like some game which would be in a kinder garten.

Oh wait, i said something negative too, well, sue me aswell..

Oh by the way, if they wanna appeal more to "da kidz" they should call it "SIMZ S0CIETYZ!22.gif

U getz to build citys n crap ,yo!

I just have to laugh at those sentances on the box...

"Make the city of your dreams"17.gif

Oh yes, i've always dreamt of making a 100% griddy city with no sign of any roads having turns at other angles than 90 deegrees.

"Share your unique cities with your friends online"

Seems like fun sharing "unique" cities with one turn just a block away or a chocolate factory on the other end of the town, how "unique".

"The most versatile city building game ever"

More like "The most un-versatile city building game ever, but the most versatile SIMS game ever."

it's 50 dollars..... aka ....49.99 in US MONEY - at stores like WAL-MART and BEST BUY.... if it's 100 dollars - forget ever buying that crap.... i think 49 is bad enough considering i probably won't even like this game... however - i still will buy it b/c i'm tired of waiting already...it'll be fun for a couple days and forget about it until i get so bored that pick it up 2 years later like i did with city life - play it for a day - then never think about playing it again b/c it reminded me why i hated playing it to begin with....

however - CITIES UNLIMITED seems to be interesting ...i'd rather play that...

The RRP is £34.99 (pounds) in the UK.

But most people discount it to around 27ish. (Thats $54 US).

The cheapest is £25.99... see the pre-order area on the website! Can't remember which company it was now though.

So many people seem to hate this game already... I'm not new to SimCity (I started with the original way-back when...) and I am excited. I do hope it doesn't disapoint and would love to see a future game combining the zone and plop features.
