You guys have given me some good stuff to work with. Thanks. (Won't need any more.)

Here is my list for 2010:

    Probables:

    1. Peak Tower (something cool but easy to start with.)

    2. PPG Place (that looks so damn cool that I just can't help myself.)

    3. Tomorrow Square (reminds me of something out of SC3K, and I quite like the look of it.)

    4. Charter House/JP Morgan Building (a nice HK mid-rise, we're lacking of those, maybe we need a few more.)

    Possibles:

    5. Grand Rapids (Michigan eh, well we can always try something new.)

    6. ICC (I'm gonna have to ask Paulvmontfort about this, he said he was thinking about it a few years back but I haven't seen anything since.) He's started work again.

Unfortunately nothing from Singapore really grabs me. If I don't like the building, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to make it. Same goes for the Dubai one.

For the Convention Centre, I really would love to do it, but the fact is that it's just too damn hard. I have absolutely no idea how to accurately model those 3D curves for the roof and it really is an immense and incredibly detailed structure. At the rate I work it'd probably take years, so unfortunately that gets a no as well.

As with anything, nothing is certain. This is just a rough outline of what I'd like to do. I may decide to do things in a different order or to skip them in favour of something else I see altogether. I'll try to get everything listed done, but no promises, okay?

Now, go and find reference pictures! Anything from 1-6 will be greatly appreciated. 19.gif

First of all well, done on all eight Trixies won, they are well deserved.

Second, If you (or any member of the HKBT) could do the ICC it would be great. Here are a couple of great pics, all of them are done during the construction phase, however, they give a representation of reflections, and parks surrounding the are. All the images are found on this forum here. [Link]

    Hope this is some inspiration:

For lack of a better word, I am geeked that you have decided to do PPG Place. TheSTEX is seriously lacking in Pittsburgh BATS. In case you are wondering, there is only one... One Mellon Place (while a good attempt, it is not true to life.) The USX Tower was begun, but is yet to be finished. Thanks for taking my suggestion into consideration. You shouldn't have any trouble finding pics of PPG Place on the internet, but should you need anything in particular, I am a Pittsburgh resident and would be happy to head downtown and snap some pics for you. Best of luck, and congrats on all those trixies!

EDIT: Oh, my bad... I see now that is on the probable list. Well anyway, should you decide to BAT it or not, my support remains.

Yeah I was going to do the ICC in a bit after I finish some projects (which I'm doing now).

    I did the math already.

I have a floorplan from the 55th floor of the ICC and the width of the building is 64m x 64m. The not to exact height but best to fit Simcity 4 is 600m.

The tower is already topped out, im sure there are a lot of photos to find to build this monster.

But if your up to it I could help you out cockatoo. Right now Im playing Mr. Procrascinator on uploading - I dont wanna make a notepad readme and upload it.

So yeah - I got little bit yet lotsa time. PM me if your interested in this project 2.gif

We, stardust, are the oddest observers of self (a.k.a. the universe).

I'm just a group of atoms typing this.

    What do I know?

Like I said, If Paul isn't doing it (I've yet to ask him) then I'll probably be doing it.

Maths? Lol I didn't know BATing involved maths? 3.gif

If you've got a floor plan, that'd be fantastic. Why would you suggest deviating from the original height though?

    Is this your floor plan?

Oh yeah, I've already taken a fair few photos of this from my time in HK. I'm sure finding references will be the last of my problems after doing obscure buildings like SCBB.

Thanks for your offer, but I think we can take this one mate. You just work on getting some of that awesome stuff you've been holding back released.

Everyone else... HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Haha, Amthaak, I can't see that happening. I'll be lucky to get one or two next year.

finally someone is going to replace the NDEX Pan Pacific, its a shame it won't be bixel finishing of union square though, considering he has done virtually all of the rest of it (bar phase 7). how are bixel and paul, haven't heard much from them lately. looking forward to see your progress.

The gray cladding is as far as I remember is sort of aluminum panels, not polished marble or granite, so it shouldn't be so reflective. If any it should be very very little glossiness there.

Apart from that it looks darn good! May be you should really unwrap the all the "at the angle" surfaces to get rid of odd distortions of the "panels"

I agree with SimFox to a degree. I think the reflections you have could work but maybe darken them up a bit towards the bottom. Coming along nicely though.
