well warrior i hope you follow through with those single tracks.

Another thing that irks me about the railroads in sc4 is that none have gravel underneath them, when virtually all do in real life. At least we have Peg's mod.

Warrior, if you make a functional single-track railroad....I will be very happy.

I am guessing that there will be different directional puzzle pieces like one way roads?

Note to a moderator why not move this to custom content: modding transit networks as its now more orientated to this section

this is exactly what im trying to do but this thread sparked my light bulb. warrior if u could some how make single rail sidings only with two tracks kinda what they did with the NAM only instead of a 2-rail turn make it so that eventually u could be able to make an enitre yard with multiple straight/curved/diagonal tracks.

btw probably not the right place for this question but, could anyone make a rail mod, like the rail cars and locomotives we have here for passenger, is it possible to make a either 1 of 3things (or all).

1. change the models for a diesel frieght engine, such as the BNSF DASH-9 already on the STEX in to a Steamer Such as the UP's Big Boy or like a two/three truck Shay.

2. change the models for a diesel passenger engine, such as the Amtrak AMD-103 or the Penn. GG1 already on the STEX in to a Steamer Such as the the Mallard or the Flying Scotsman

3. at least make new freight cars to repalce the maxis cars such as changing that horrible flatcar with the tank on it to some kinda intermodal or even some kind of grain train

ok. i found a few lots already made on a japanese site. they ARE single rail lots and my question was if u r already working on this perfect.

but on the NAM the have the widened or enlongated turn puzzle pieces for regular 2-track lines. i was trying to ask if some how u or somebody else could make pizzle pieces to switch from single to double rail and vice-versa hopefully to use the already NAM created puzzle pieces and just put a TE lot at the ends to be able to have straight, curved, and diagonal sidings. and if it was posible to maybe create an entire yard that are curved and diagonal not just straight.

The single track rail I made was a puzzle piece and was functional one track only, I only made a straight piece because that's all I could texture in the amount of time I gave myself, I may pause the HSR modd I'm doing at the moment and make a draggable Single Track Railway (because it is easier to make RULs/draggable starter pieces for textured networks than 3D networks) and then once I get more used to RULs take up the HSR project again but it depends on a lot of factors, I can make STR curves and others, easilyish.

I hope that answers you.

And not meaning to be rude, you have a full keyboard, so use it.

I was hoping for someone to make a magnetic levitation or maglev project that would simply change the evolution of transportation. A project like this would probably cost a ton since its mostly concrete and would run maintanance cost high but the idea has to be thought of. A single maglev train zipping through a well populated downtown or even the idea of attaching one to an airport ex (shanghai) would be a brilliant solution to solving commute time especially if you like me do region play can have connections to the major parts of the city. Its similiar to the monorail but much faster clocking speeds of 500mph. If I were able to do this i would modify the monorail widening the tracks just a little then customizing the monorail train carriages. amtrak is thinking about a project from sacramento to san diego but has yet to be reviewed. lets hope someone from the stex can make this possible what do you guys think as a big fan of high speed trains!

HSR beta 1 has already been released onto the STEX, it replaces monorail, I am currnetly making a modd which alllows you to have both High Speed Rail and monorail in the same cities.

Maglev willl be under development for SimMars and it will be possible ot bring Maglev over to normal SC4, but things like these can't be done like 1,2,3..

No those are *eye-candy lots* which do not function, and are not a proper way of making networks, I say this meaning no offence to the creator.

Apart from taking up room in menus, there are major problems with TEed ( the lots jmdude1 linked to are not TE) lots as "networks" like pathing issues, ( find one of JPlumbley's post on he matter somewhere)

My to-do list is quite lengthy. I do wish to make these textures and do my part, however I currently have little time for such a thing.

Actually its still fully functional. It sees about 2 trains a week.

hey warrior if this thread is still open i was wondering about if there was a way to make a puzzle piece set for a Narrow Gauge rail.

Hi, It would be possible to make a set who's (?) track looks narrow gauge but it's likely you'll get the wider trains on the narrow gauge track as well as narrow gauge trains on the wider track, unless another way is figured out.

Anyway while I'm here I might as well say that, JPlumbley, is probably going to make a RAM, Rail Addon Modd similar to the SAM. So it is more than likely this will be made draggable and included in that.

A pretty good train track and signal simulation is Locomotion by Chris Sawyer. While the game's focus is purely on the transport of goods and people, it has a pretty good system for creating fairly complex track and station layouts.

I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, and most of the tracks I've seen are single, very rarely double, unless of course you are in an industrial area. And Milwaukee has about a million people in the area and why do people call CITIES with less than a million people TOWNS???? I lived in the City of Phillips - Population 1600. Compare that to what people up there think is a city like Wausau - Pop 30000. Just being a pain, haha.

Same here!! I live in the suburbs of Toronto (Lots of ppl living here) and the commuter trains use only single track lines... I only see the double track sections in downtown areas.

#1, 2, and 3 would require a master modder, some1 like BigRedFish and Pegasus (he made only props that are related to 1950s American Steam rails), to do this. However, the steam engines would require steam pipes to be placed along the boiler of the engine. In addition, it would require new skins, which requires a long time (since they are very sophisticated) to create. As for the freight cars, Pegasus might be able to do this...

Well, there was a RAM (Railroad Add-on Mod) Team at SC4Devotion to address said things, but things are going pretty slowly there.

NAM STR FAR Rail ?

Double track has FAR pieces, Single track is limited to a S and wide 45 an 90 dgr curves. FAR isn´t covered, some STR pieces are not so often used. What is the change that FAR is added to a future NAM release ? Something else are the single track viaduct pieces, now laying track under maxis produce a double track standard, no options ?

Sincerely yours,

Kschmidt
