Shaun of the Dead vs. Hot Fuzz

Like the title says, let's compare and contrast. Personally, I thought Shaun of the Dead was funnier and better characters, but Hot Fuzz had a better storyline. So, psychopathic village to zombification disease? Personally, I think I relate most to Shaun. Good friends, little lazy, good nature and notices what is going on around him. So, which British comedy is better?

Wow, Hard choice, But I think I liked Hot Fuzz better, I really liked the Cartoonish gun fight in the end.

nope....

Hot Fuzz is better....but only due to the acting...I swear Simon Pegg can act better as a cop with a motive then a lazy slacker, but what saves Shaun of the Dead is the fact there is so much internal struggle....

you see him have to save his EX girlfriend, shoot his mom in the face and leave behind ED in the basement....

In Hot Fuzz...his relationship to his girlfriend is ice cold and he has no real feelings...other then Justice....

What saves Hot Fuzz is the fact its a suspenseful movie...Great acting, not just an action movie...ohhh and who the hell said Hot Fuzz was a comedy....

I only laughed whenever something overly stupid happened....or was said...

Anyway Shaun of Dead is a great movie, but only due to the internal struggle and how funny it is...I laughed almost every second during that movie...the room mate is a total jerk/not ED....and the whole dialog was well writtened....

Also the whole thing with Queen during the Zombie fight had to be one of the best parts of any movie...I swear it had me almost crying it was so funny....

so...Shaun of the Dead is the better comedy

but Hot Fuzz is better with almost everything else besides comedy...I can only wait and wonder what Else Simon Pegg will bring us...

OH and Thank you very much for making this topic!!!!

You're quite welcome. Personally, my favorite scenes in Shaun of the Dead are when they're in the Jaguar, the Queen fight scene, and when they're in the Winchester and they give him all these weird angles to shoot at. I actually had a dream I was in Shaun of the Dead the other night. I was in a museum, and I threw priceless glass jars at the zombies.

Never saw Hot Fuzz, though I want to. Shaun of the Dead was pretty funny. The ending was hilarious. 9.gif

Just a heads up: in 20 minutes on Comedy Central, for those of you who have it, Shaun of the Dead will be on. I know I'm watching it!!!

I think they are roughly equal. I enjoyed both films. My brother-in-law liked SotD much more than HF. IMO, the good parts of the first movie were traded to reinforce its negatives in the second movie. Does that make sense?

I think that the duo makes good movies, so let's see what they come up with next...

I liked them both, espevcially the refereces to "Shaun.." in HF, overall i am glad that Pegg and Frost paired together for this movie. It couldn't have worked any other way. 9.gif

I'd say it's about a tie. Hot Fuzz is funnier, overall, but SotD has better characters and such. Though, of course, nothing in either movie quite compares to the gunfight scene with Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson in the Spaced episode "Gone". 9.gif

Well, to be honest, I thought Hot Fuzz was grosser, especially when that guy's head imploded when the church gargoyle hit him in the head and then he walked a few steps and collapsed. Whoops! I gave a big scene away! But man, that one guy with the Nyarp thing was funny! I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that!

Yeah, but you didn't say it happened to T... oh almost said his name...lol

Anyway the first time me and my dad saw that part when he gets his head smashed in...we both looked at each other and pretty much said that was a bit gruesome...

As for Nyarp and Yarp...that had me laughing to hard....
