It's Colorado. That's the Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park.

    I took that picture myself.

Anyway, back to more normal stuff:

Hm, I would say somewhere near Santa Barbara, due to the temperate looking area and the fact there's exposed cliff faces and palm trees nestled in there.

Nah, I don't want to turn this into a competition. It's just for fun.

    hint: the continent is Europe.

well, I've never seen an American highway with a blue sign before...

My guess would be Greece, they seem to have blue signs.

American highways do incorporate blue signs on the highways as to let the traveller know what services are offered at the next exit.

Indeed. However, American highways use yellow paint for the left shoulder, not white. So the US and Canada are ruled out nonetheless. 31.gif

Now for a real hint: the country this is in has an ocean border, and it's not European or North American.

While I'm at it, might as well say that sign colors (and shapes) in the US are defined in the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices). The color standards are as follows:

Green: General, directional information (street signs, most signs on highways)

Blue: Information on services (gas, food, lodging, etc.)

Brown: Information on points of interest (parks, historic sites, etc.)

Yellow: Cautionary signs (curve ahead, slippery when wet, etc.)

White: Legal signs (Speed limits, one way, do not enter, etc.) and HOV lane signs

Red: Stop signs and danger signs (Wrong way, restrictions on hazmats)

Orange: temporary signs in construction zones

Purple: no specific regulation (EZPass uses it)

Pink, Cyan, and Neon green: reserved for future uses in currently nonexistent categories

    And the shape standards are:

    Square/rectangle: general purposes

Diamond (square at 45° angle): Cautionary signs

Octagon: specifically reserved for stop signs

Pennant (long sideways triangle): Do Not Pass

    Circle: usually not used

    Triangle: usually not used

    Upside-down triange: Yield signs

Upside-down trapezoid: some older, non-standard highway signs on private toll roads (like the New Jersey Turnpike) use this shape. It's only permitted as is, though. Were any of those signs to be replaced, they'd have to be replaced with standard rectangular signs.

Note that the regulations are quite specific. It's not just "green, "blue, brown" etc., but specific shades of those colors (with a little tolerance). The font is also standardized. You still see small variations in sign styles across the country, though, since highways are maintained by the states, not the federal government (though they get federal money for it).

well, yeah, forgot about those. 1.gif

Well if it's not in N.America or Europe my next guess would be South Africa?

    Spain?

South Africa has a yellow solid line the other side than the americans (on the shoulder).

Turkey has green motrwy signs, unless that's not a motorway and I think the line is solid.

If I'm right, that looks like a desert setting... although Dubai area highways are much newer than that... but I've been thinking... if theres a desert place that uses blue signs... Egypt???
