Ok. Here's the deal, I thought it would be fun if I build a city (on flat, large city tile), and you the reader would suggest new buildings, whether or not to replace a building, build parks, etc. Everything about this city will be suggested by the reader. Once this thing gets going and enough people are participating we should vote, but, for now, just suggest a building (STEX, SC4Devotation, or Maxis), civic structure, park, or anything you can think of (even roads) and I will put it in. I hope that explanation is sufficient.

I did give this CJ a start by starting the downtown area. It's not the best, I know, but you can change that!

crazyarchitect: I just looked at some of the NDEX buildings: lookin' good. Do you have any specific ones you would like to see in the city? Also, I'm just plopping the entire downtown, zoning will be later. That way I wont get any repeats in the skyline and we have control over which buildings stay and which go.

jrhnemo: Those towers are just temporary, I'm going to replace them away from the downtown (in an area of your choosing). I just don't like looking at the no water zots. For future reference do you think I should stick with the Maxis towers or get one off of the STEX? And, yes, great ideas are the only kind I have .

So here is what we have so far. Feel free to suggest new buildings, the demolition of buildings already in place, or move buildings around.

You can see some NDEX buildings as suggested by crazyarchitect.

More trees! As suggested by everyone Whoops, missed a few tiles.

City Hall as suggested by belfastuniguy. Is this kind of what you're thinking, belfastuniguy? I downloaded it of STEX, but if you know a better one or one that would fit in better with the city, don't hesitate to suggest .

And Finally, the utilities for the city. Replaced with Black Hole facilities as suggested by football_fever. This is just a temporary place for the facilities. I think they wouldn't look too bad in an industrial sector.

How about a big central rail terminus for the rail in the city. Heavy rail, not subway...it'd be cool. Love the CJ! Great idea!

Good Idea. Any specific downtown train station you had in mind? Or a good place to plop it? I was thinking South of the park and Town Hall.

Anyway, I agree with JoystickJunkie, how about you get one of Ill Tonkso's huge rail stations and build an extensive rail network to connect all parts of you're downtown. Maybe you could even make a sunken one, like if you've ever seen sunken hi-way but it looks great with rail.

Also I'd add some nice custom trees to that terracotta plaza thing. And one last thing I really like those two Maxis R$$$ buildings by the stadium, add more of those sort of buildings for sure.

Make the avenue next to the park 1 tile wider, and add a Light Rail line. Also, marczar has some great urban buildings that would really help your downtown. Look for them on the stex, or the lex at sc4d.

Here is a small rail station servicing the south side of Downtown.

And a larger one North of the park.

I like that city hall, I'd suggest removing the road in front of the hall and the diagonal. Then centre the hall between the two avenues. Then use all that space in front of the city hall for a nice public park with paths, statue and maybe a fountain.

First off, great idea for a CJ.  Second, I love the sunken rail. Just make sure that the next time you plop a station, they shouldn't be too close together, because it's not as realistic (but the two you have now are good where they are).  Also, Hanson784 just uploaded a NY city hall to the STEX.  It looks really nice, you should consider it.  The lot is smaller, but the building is larger.  I think it would fit a little better than the one you have now because it's made specifically for a downtown area.

I agree with *****atoo-210893 you should add something to that plaza.  Either that, or reduce it, because it's almost the same size as the stadium.  There are some good diagonal parks by mas71 on the STEX that I have downloaded.  They are realistic AND seasonal.

With the city hall I like the current one because its textures blend into the park very nicely and it just looks good
