the BAT is very good, but it needs a lot (even if it is just plain cemented sidewalks).
  2. Fill in the Blanks

Sorta, but if you make the sunken road deeper, the overpass will be level with the connecting road as opposed to angling up. The trick is, whichever overpass puzzle piece you are planning to use (for example the one ways), use the same for the hole digging mod. So in this case, you would need to use the one way (or road) hole digger. If you had wanted to use avenue overpasses, you would need to use the avenue hole digger because they are set at different heights.
  3. Fill in the Blanks

The interchange system looks good, but I think it would look better if the overpasses were "underpasses." For example, if you made that portion sunken and have the other highway which is currently flat on the ground become the overpass by using NAM puzzle pieces. I hope you know what I'm talking about, because I don't know if I'm explaining it clear enough.
  4. Central park

I dont like the water. It looks fake (too blue). Is this supposed to be a central park, or "The Central Park" in NYC? Because Central Park isn't completely filed with trees, it does have open fields. Also, Central Park has a zoo, playgrounds, baseball fields, etc. Like Q-Gadgetry said, it needs to be bigger.
  5. BLaM 111 Huntington Avenue

swat-medic: the reflection in the window looks like a reflection from the base... the building does look great and I agree that the base needs a little more work (better texturing or more roof junk). One thing that I noticed is that the base is not flush with the diagnol street. Seeing the green on the side of the road is one of my pet peeves. Otherwise great job 9/10.
  6. Fill in the Blanks

I think you are going to need more than one or two highrises here and there to complete the downtown. Otherwise, it's like having a couple blocks of large buildings rather than a downtown. ......Think NYC.
  7. Fill in the Blanks

Either the orange or the cyan. They both look good, but I think the cyan looks a bit more realistic. I don't know if this has already been suggested, but if it has I'm sorry for bringing it up again. When the poll is finished and you create a river, I think you should use seawalls to give it a nice urban look. For example "JS Seawalls" by JayStimson. I use this and another set in my cities, but I can't seem to find the other set on STEX. It was probably taken down when it was upgraded. If anyone knows the name of it or where to find it, it uses the same tiles as the sandstone pedestrian NAM tiles. I think it was by Jeronij, but I didn't hapeen to find it. *edit: I figured out what it is. It's the Marrast Emb Set.
  8. Fill in the Blanks

I suggest you do a canal or a canal-like river. Simgoober makes a ploppable set, which is similar to what jrhnemo suggested, only a little bit more urban (I believe lakes look very suburban, unless you put it in the center of a city park). Also, what mod/ploppable set did you use for the parking lot near the stadium? I've been looking on STEX for parking lots but can't find anything where I can create my own shape or size. The one's I've seen are set at 6x5 etc.
  9. Fill in the Blanks

The incline/decline to the highway is a little steep...No highways begin or end with a 45 degree hill. The way you can fix that is by demolishing a few tiles of where the highway meets the avenue and draging rail tracks for about 4 tiles, starting at least 1 tile into the avenue. It will raise those tiles, making a more realistic incline. However, it will not affect the level of the avenue. Try it out, I think you'll like it.
  10. CACC World Trade Centre Tower

good, but it's a little too bright (especially the roof). Try adding some more roof junk and 'dirtying' it up a little bit.

First off, great idea for a CJ. Second, I love the sunken rail. Just make sure that the next time you plop a station, they shouldn't be too close together, because it's not as realistic (but the two you have now are good where they are). Also, Hanson784 just uploaded a NY city hall to the STEX. It looks really nice, you should consider it. The lot is smaller, but the building is larger. I think it would fit a little better than the one you have now because it's made specifically for a downtown area. I agree with *****atoo-210893 you should add something to that plaza. Either that, or reduce it, because it's almost the same size as the stadium. There are some good diagonal parks by mas71 on the STEX that I have downloaded. They are realistic AND seasonal. That's all for now. I subscribed to your CJ, so I'll probably chime in again sometime later. Sorry about the post. I was censored for the 1st 4 letters before 'atoo' LOL. I guess we'll just have to refer to him/her as "Bird-210893"
  13. Clocktower Books

good except the green on the roof is too bright...it needs some texture. otherwise, great BATing.
  14. New York City

What you have to do is drag the Maxis train and then plop the NAM pieces over the rail line.
  15. New York City

In your picture of Queens, is the left side West (Manhattan) and the right side East (Long Island)? If so, the 7 train should be turning right not left. Or, is the 7 train making its turn from Roosevelt Ave (from the left side) onto Queens Blvd.? I believe that it's the second option, but I'm just making sure. Also, in reference to what you said. "In real life cars are parked under the tracks but I don't think there are any NAM puzzle pieces that would allow lots on the same tiles as el." I tried making my neighborhood, which also has parking lots under an elevated train. From what I remember, I used the NAM puzzle pieces (with road below -- I believe) and plopped pedestrian tiles (sandstone) ontop of it. That way, it acts as a lot. I found this out by accident when I was plopping ped. tiles next to a building and accidently plopped it on a building. Instead of the buidling being destroyed, the ped. tile became the new lot. The sandstone lot looks the closest to a parking lot (especially with the train above you will barely see it). What I would recommend though is to save all your work right before you try this, just incase it crashes. I've experienced it crash when dragging a transit piece/other NAM piece over a NAM rail puzzle piece. By the way, love the CJ. Keep up the good work both BATing and planning NY.
