In a pool of his parents' blood, Bruce Wayne makes a vow to rid Gotham of the evil that took their lives, and goes on a worldwide odyssey--training his mind and body to peak perfection, as well as trying to get a deeper knowledge for a criminal's motives.

    bartonn: Exactly. 3.gif

ilikehotdogsalot: I knew it was a bit sad, but I didn't know that other people would think it was that intense.

    AceofSpades: Thanks for the comment.

football_fever: Don't you mean "why" they left the theater? The Waynes wouldn't go see an opera with bats in it after their child had just been trauamatized! The opera itself didn't have bats, but little Bruce imagined it from the spinning shapes.

TheSixCents: Thanks. I'll have to check that out.

Philadelphia: No one's done it before like this, but the concept was seen briefly in The Sin City Chronicles. Here's the link:

     https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=79716&highlight_key=y&keyword1=sin%20city%20chronicles

    jacqulina: Gracias, amiga.

Deever: Notice that the comic transitions into red panels, too. It wasn't originally red in the comic. I added that layer myself.

Benedict: Now that you bring up the El-train, I'll definitely post a map later on. I'm sure people will find it interesting.

BubbaGump: I've never had a page full of comments before, so I think this is pretty cool.

    BOOM! There goes the neighborhood.

You made good use of those Asian BAT's. The area around the Eiffel Tower is also great.

Although the transition from the "Bruce falling off the mountain panel" to the "shaman panel" was too sudden, IMO. Though it would take more effort and mosaic space to place additional panels so I guess it can't be helped (or if it was really like that in the comic to begin with).

High atop the Himalayas is a secret martial arts temple run by fighting master Ra's al Ghul. Within its walls are the training grounds for the Society of Shadows, a league of highly-skilled assassins.

This update will show in greater detail the characters and setting of the previous chapter.

sobol: You're very interesting yourself. 31.gif

BubbaGump: Yeah, ninja action. Let's bring in some Japanese directors and film highly stylized, but inexpensive martial arts flick!

    jrhnemo: Thanks, j.

crazyyaya: Glad you like what I've put into this CJ

John94538: "And I think it's gonna be a long, long, time

'Til touchdown brings me 'round again to find..."

Deever: Yeah. The sudden transition couldn't be helped. I had to edit out the part where Brucey brings Ra's to that village at the bottom of the hill. There from different comics though. That part with the Indian shaman wasn't in Batman Begins or the Begins comic book. Eh. I think the pacing's OK though.

ilikehotdogsalot: At least speechless is better than "can't wait to see more." 3.gif

AceofSpades: Why thank you. You're becoming quite the frequent commenter! 40.gif

    Ra’s al Ghul

His name is Arabic for “The Ghoul’s Head,” and Ra’s al Ghul seems to be just that. The leader of the League of Shadows, Ra’s Al Ghul is a skilled fighter—as deadly as he is intelligent. Al Ghul’s ultimate goal in his seemingly endless life is to restore order to civilization and achieve total immortality.

    A Young Bruce Wayne

Still haunted by the sudden and violent death of his parents, Bruce Wayne traveled the world, trying to understand criminality and fighting techniques, so when he returns to Gotham, he will be prepared to dedicate his life to fighting crime.

    0banneryearonejr3.jpg

    So begins Year One.

These chapters will showcase Batman’s first year fighting crime in Gotham City, from his first success exposing a drug-busting ring, to the final confrontation in which an old nemesis attempts to destroy the entire city. Year One will also bring to light Batman’s uneasy alliance with the Gotham police force, and his struggles with a city that’s approaching the brink of chaos.

Wayne Enterprises is Gotham’s single oldest business and the largest employer of the city’s workforce. Founded in the 17th century as a shipping and steel manufacturing company, Wayne Enterprises has since adapted to modern times with the addition of its current branches WayneTech, WayneAerospace, and Wayne Chemicals. Its headquarters is in the geographical center of Gotham—an immense art deco skyscraper, Wayne Tower. The city's power and water supplies, as well as the massive elevated train networks are routed right into the tower.

Note: This update will also show comparisons to the RL Wayne Tower in Batman Begins, which is the Chicago Board of Trade Bldg. By the way, Tjibaou Rentals by jtportland is used for the monorail stations as seen in the movie. It was the closest thing I could find, but IMO it fits in quite well.

    topcliff: Thanks, dude.

AceofSpades: I felt the same way you did with the Sin City Chronicles (search for it in the forums). It was so good, I wanted to cry. Then the CJ got cancelled, and everyone cried.

AnotherCityBuilder: Thanks. Glad you like Batman...who doesn't?

    SimRabbit: Okay.

Simfan34: In my version (just like some incarnations of the comics), the murderer is never caught. This gives Bruce that motivation and anger knowing that he can never truly avenge his parents' death.

    Mikeaut1: High-speed indeed, mikey. I update it everyday. 9.gif

BubbaGump: Glad you like teh character profiles.

    tomdapom: Thanks, tom da pom.

Deever: Replicate it all you want, I don't mind. Btw, what does "Axe & Hammer" mean?

csgcseri: It was hinted at vaguely in Batman Begins.

asturianu: Hey, asturianu. Haven't seen you in a while! Glad you like my CJ, and imagination is an important thing when making a journal, otherwise it just looks like every other boring looking CJ out there. Stop by again!

    Evil_Someone: You need a new avatar. 2.gif

    Lucius Fox

Back in the day of Thomas Wayne, Lucius Fox was the CEO of Wayne Enterprises. Fox was a business-minded genius, helping to establish W.E. as one of the nation’s largest corporations. He almost bankrupted the company, however, after trying to help ease poverty in the city during the Depression. And while Bruce Wayne traveled the globe, Fox was demoted to basement duty— dead-end—where he couldn’t cause any more trouble on the board.

Next Update: Wayne Enterprises. Bruce Wayne gets the goods and gadgets to aid him in his war against crime.

updating every day...good thing the updates are pretty short. I don't have to read so much when I miss a day.

Ra's al Ghoul....never did like that guy.

Love the building similarities. Wayne Tower is a champion

I agree with football_fever. Short updates are always a plus. Easy to catch up on.

Wayne Tower...what can I say? The transportation layout is inspiring! Look at that! The rails go right through the building!

Whoops! I seem to have missed an update. Anyway, your last two updates were - how should I say this - PURELY MAGNIFICENT!

I adored the visual scenery of Temple Al Ghul and the snow-capped Himalayan mountains. Wayne Tower looked like a gleaming, night-lit hub of corporate activity. I also liked the way the elevated rail "looked" like it was going inside the building.
