I hope you'll all forgive me a moment of self indulgence, but I became a dad for the third time tonight (30/06/07) at 7.24pm GMT.

Ethan Joe weighed in at 7lb 2oz, mother & baby doing fine.

How exactly is a baby being born a miracle? It happens millions of times a year... it happened to all of us... doesn't exactly seem that "special" in the greater scheme of things, does it?

...nevertheless, it's one more human on the Earth. Though whether or not that's a good thing depends on your point of view....

It's not pessimism, it's just looking at things from an unusual angle.

...besides, you can't deny that there certainly are downsides to having children... it's just that for most people the good outweighs the bad, and people tend not to want to look at the bad because they don't want to hurt the kids' self-esteem.

So I'm not trying to focus on the downsides, I'm trying to provide an alternate perspective.
