Nice update!  I like those billboards and good work showing off some rarely seen simgoober BATs.  Always looking forward to more!

Yeah, great work with diagonal transports, well-placed billboards!

Hope those chicks (1st pic & banner) won't distract drivers! 3.gif

For some reason, those billboards look spectacular next to the elevated highway through that gritty section of town. As always, you've got some great industrial pics.

edmonton_stinks: Yeah, I kinda forgot to give an explanation of why it's located there.  For now, we'll leave it at "A planned development that was cut short." 2.gif Next time I show something similar, I'll be sure to give a pretty detailed reason.  But I'm glad that you liked the overall area!  Regarding the SC4 colors, the editing I use makes the colors stand out much more, so that's probably why it isn't so depressing. 3.gif Thanks for commenting!

suplado!: Thank you, suplado!  I like to use diagonal transportation networks whenever possible, because straight lines only are too boring.  The only problem with them in SC4 is the ugly jagged edges the sidewalks and textures on them create.  It looks alright in downtown areas, but otherwise I wish there was a good (and practical) way to avoid them. 22.gif

seemurray2: I figured that those billboards would fit the area really well.  Fortunately, there's a pretty good variety of them to choose from, so it looks good.  I still wish that there were much more, though.   SG's stuff are awesome!  I love 'em, too.  Thanks for the comment, Chris! 4.gif

gabry85: Thanks!  Glad you liked those two thing as well.  Hehe, yeah I would be wondering the same thing.  Traffic is already bad as it is, but that particular billboard doesn't help at all.  But hey, who really cares when you're the one in control.  Besides, you're not the one driving there, and you can look at it as long as you want to. 3.gif

dfnva: I've taken inspiration from RL cities such as Los Angeles, which is only three hours away from where I live.  Anytime you have a pretty busy road in a more urban area, you're bound to see plenty of billboards lining it.  I put that into consideration when placing them.  For example, the locations where each one is placed has a very high rate of traffic.  Expect to see more of that low-wealth area in a future update.  Thank you for the comment, Dan! 9.gif

Those two mosaics are coming either tomorrow or Wednesday!  Hope to see you then.

Thanks a bunch for visiting Auburn Valley.

It's a really nice job that you do touching up your pictures before posting them. And the content is good too. 4.gif I like the industrial areas once again. I usually sort of half-ass mine into the cities. I should probably do more to make them nicer. 3.gif

Ahh, I fell a little behind schedule here, but I've been very lazy lately. 3.gif Replies coming tomorrow, or this weekend along with the next update.  For now, here's those two mosaics!  I know I said that I'd have one daytime shot and one nighttime shot, I just ended up doing two night ones.

nice mosaics; although i think the loft in the last pic is a little out of place, being the only residential building in a predominately industrial area. but that's just me... still some nice work!

I'm viewing your CJ in an internet cafe right now. They have very nice LCD screens here--definitely better than the one at home. Boy are your mosaics crisp! Sharp and fine like a freshly sharpened pencil. Nice touch with the advertisement billboards.

Great work! One thing I really like of these shots is how industries blend with the other buildings, especially with the retail stores! It was always an annoying problem for me. 2.gif

s_olah: Glad that you liked it!  Unfortunately, I probably won't be showing too much more industrial since most of it has already been showcased.  The next couple updates will focus on residential areas and the city's downtown area. 2.gif Thanks for commenting! 9.gif

zelgadis: It's nothing compared to some of the beautiful editing jobs some people do around here! 6.gif But I will always do something to make my pictures look better.  As you already know, variety comes first in my cities, so if you ever ventured into my Plugins folder, you wouldn't be surprised to see how much of Jestarr's stuff I've downloaded.  SG, Tag_One, and Gascooker also have made a lot of the CC in my industrial districts.  So what are you waiting for?  Get downloading, Ian! 3.gif

Dsrwhat316: Thanks for the comment, Dan.  But, the seaport set isn't PEG's, it's Soulstealer's! 2.gif Maybe I should've just used PEG's to avoid of the resulting confusion. 3.gif Glad you liked the billboards, it's a good sign when many people notice them! 1.gif

pagenotfound: Thank you!  Pleased you like my industrial districts.

underwearman2007:  Patience is all that it takes. 3.gif But seriously, as soon as I finish the updates for Destiny Bay, I'll move on to the airport. 19.gif

Dsrwhat316 (x2): The real reason why I had that grow there was so that the nearby industrial buildings would get some jobs.  At the time I was a little disappointed with the fact that no one was working at the many factories around the area.  I probably should just bulldoze it now, though. 2.gif Thank you for commenting again!

Deever: Heh heh, cool.  Did anyone ask what you were looking at? 4.gif I hope so. 3.gif

Nah, it really doesn't matter.  Glad you liked the pair of mosaics, and that's a pretty good simile you used in describing them. 19.gif The same goes for the billboards - I'm happy that you liked them, too.  Thanks for the comment!

jacqulina: Thanks, Jacky!  I really appreciate your ongoing support. 9.gif

gabry85: Thank you.  I try to steer clear of Maxis commercials most of the time due to the frequency of certain buildings growing.  Sometimes it's not an issue, but most of the time I just use whatever looks the best in that particular area. 2.gif

zelgadis: Hey, at least I admitted it.  Besides, like you said, they look "pretty." 3.gif

edmonton_stinks: 49.gif second comment to Dan (Dsrwhat).  Translation: Read 2nd comment to Dan. 3.gif Thanks for the comment, though, and as for the loft, I think I know what its fate is going to be. foru

Another good update, I like your choice of apartments. Interestingly, here around Washington, DC, there isn't much use of billboards, for some reason. In NY City, it's the exact opposite where they have huge ads on buildings and such. When you get into more rural areas of VA as well as other major cities there are billboards though.

Oh, I have a monster plugins folder, thanks. It's just that I tend to... um.... "accessorize" my cities with like buildings, so it's not often that you actually see the variety.

I like what you do, probably because I'm not good at the whole mismatched matching thing. 4.gif

thatdamguy: Thanks, glad you liked it!

dfnva: Thank you for commenting, Dan.  These particular apartments, made by marcszar, are really nice.  But the long one at the end isn't made by him.  I think that billboards tend to be looked at as eyesores, so some places don't have many of them, or none at all (like Vermont).  It's kinda ironic when you look at a city like NY, where billboards are so abundant in Times Square.  For me, I just like to look at billboards and see what companies are advertising the most on them. 2.gif

GMT: Everyone really likes the night shots! 3.gif Exactly why I like to balance them out over updates.  Usually an update will consist of mostly daytime pictures with a night mosaic.  I've pretty much stuck to that format since the Jackson Park series.  Thanks for the comment!

gabry85: Thanks, G85! (Come to think of it, that's a cool name for you). 3.gif Glad I could help.  Just remember, variety is the key.  Don't worry about grids, since industries look just fine like that.  Have fun building them!

zelgadis: I know.  Or do I? 3.gif Yeah, there's probably tons of stuff that I really don't use, but otherwise the things that I do use get their fair share of attention.  That's mainly due to the mod that I use which sends all Maxis buildings to the Chicago tileset, while custom buildings continue to grow in the other three.  Thanks for commenting, Ian.

Schulmanator: I wish I knew how.  Man, I can't even imagine how many car billboards I'd make... tons, man! 3.gif That would be awesome.  Of course, some others to add variety wouldn't hurt, either... but for now we'll all have to be satisfied with the ones available now.  More updates coming soon, don't you worry! 2.gif

Benedict: Thanks, some low and medium-wealth commercials blend in well with industrials.  Primarily, it's gas stations, fast food restaurants, and convenience stores. 4.gif

edmonton_stinks: That's another bad thing about those apartments, the traffic levels are high all around.  At least it's better than having a railroad in your backyard.  Plus, you can stare at the passing cars on the highway all day long (which I probably could do). 3.gif

lucky7: I'm glad that you liked all of that.  Variety is the spice of life, and I like to keep it that way in SC4. 10.gif

Part Four is likely coming on Saturday, although it could end up being on Sunday instead.  Just a bit more to go before the airport is showcased! 2.gif

    Thank you for visiting AV!

Ask? Nah. The guys at the cafe were too busy kicking each other's butt in some MMORPG to notice me.

That's a sweet-looking highway. It seems to twist and turn in such a way that it doesn't bother the development nearby (nice wall-to-wall BATs, BTW). The traffic adds a lot to the images too, especially the trucks.
