My dear fellow simtropolitans, tell me what is your favourite drink. What do you want in your glass when you are spending a night out with your friends at your local night club or which drink do you choose for the sunny day at the terrace? Share your own favourites with the others!

Any (wannabe) bartenders out there? What would the Simtropolis-drink be like?

I'll start with a drink known as...

M
a
r
i
a
n
n
e

(Tastes like a candy with the same name)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cl green mint liquer
  • 2 cl cocoa liquer
  • 8 cl milk

- Add the ingredients to a grog glass with ice. Mix.

- Enjoy.

Another good (and quite basic) one:

K
e
l
k
k
a

(Kelkka is Finnish and means "sleigh")

Ingredients:

  • 1 dl orange juice

  • 2 cl Passion fruit liquer

  • 2 cl Vodka (blackcurrant)

- Add the alcohols and orange juice to a grog glass with ice, blend with spoon.

- serve with slice of orange and a cherry.

Cuba Libre All The Way... at home, anyway.

Rum

Coke

Lime

You decide the proportions...

But, sometimes, when I am out and about, then I go for the Long Island Iced Tea... especially if I need something to survive boring situations.

Me? Whatever's on special... usually rum & coke... or if I'm in the mood for shots, straight Jager.

Please drink responsibly... oh, and you'd all better be over the legal drinking age.

With dinner, Champagne, Veuve Cliquot preferred

After dinner, before dessert, Grand Marnier

With the Cheese after dessert Madeira

I generally prefer Bitters such as John Smiths. A good Guiness every now and then is great.

Other things such as Windsor and Coke, Bicardi Limon and Sprite, Jagermeister, Sambuka are also good.

I prefer White wine over red, although a good rose is sometimes in order. Sangria is also fantastic.

Kamakazes are also nice...

I'm not too picky, but I also haven't tried too much. I refuse to drink ANY light beer, vodka, or Corona. My favorite beer is Spotted Cow Ale by the New Glarus Brewing Company, and my favorite hard drink is probably Jack Daniels though I like whiskey in general.

Not a fan of mixed drinks myself...when drinking I usually reach for a beer. I prefer wheat beer ala Widmer or Pyramid (especially the Pyramid Apricot Weizen). Blue Moon (Belgian White Ale) is also good. I've had several IPAs too...tastes like mold to me 3.gif

There's nothing wrong in that, beer is fine too. It is usually the cheapest alcoholic bewerage available anyway. Suitable for student budget. ;D

I also like white wines more than red wines. I find the red wines somehow too.. Musty? (Is that the right word, I'm not a specialist in english wine-describing words...)

As I am totally allergic to alcohol (I can't even use those medial alcoholic wipes), then only two drinks I ever drink are Water and Soya Milk.

I've had Coke about five times in my entire life. I hated it. I don't like any other softdrinks either, except perhaps Tango, which I have occasionaly at parties.

But anyway; my choice of drink would be tap water. Possibly with lemon (I like eating them..)

I'm a student at  theTampere University of Technology. It's a part of the student culture here to drink quite much and get drunk occasionally (but it's not obligatory, of course). An another part of the culture are the drinking songs made up by students. One of them goes like this:

    Entäs sitten aamulla,

    on olo mitä parhain.

    Kannat vettä savilla,

    sängyn viereen varhain.

    Aamuyöllä vessassa

    tuumit sormet kurkussa

    AH, kun sentään hyvältä

    paljas vesi maistuu

    :,: Och vatten och vatten

    och vatten är så gott,

    så rysigt, fasigt, billigt,

    så hälsosamt och vått :,:

    1, 2, 3 VATTEN!

The song tells about how horrible it is to have hangover and have fingers on your throat trying to get the bad feeling out, and how miraculously good the water tastes while having hangover. The refrain is in swedish and it tells how cheap, awesome and healtful water is. Basically the song is a tribute to water. :D

Sorry to hear that you're that allergic. It must be quite hard to all the time watch carefully what you're eating (or drinking). :/

I just remembered one drink that didn't taste any good (at least in my opinion), but I just thought to share this piece of cultural information with you:

As mentioned on my previous post here, I'm a technology student at TUT. Tampere is the major inland city in Finland. On the coast, there is the capital, Helsinki and the old capital named Turku. There's some friendly neighbourhoudly quarrels between Tampere and Turku. People in both cities sneer at eachother. It's like "I'm far more better as a person than that other guy living in that town." I hope you got the idea.

Well. Then at Tampere University of Technology there's the "Ei-Turkulainen Osakunta", ETO, which can be translated to No-Turku students' union. This particular union makes every year an excursion from Tampere to Turku, and the meaning of this crusade is to sink the city of Turku. The first thing that the ETO does when closing in the border of Turku, they try to detach Turku from the mainland with a huge wedge. So far this hasn't worked so they continue to the downtown of Turku and offer the local people some sausage from Tampere as "cultural aid". When they've shared all the sausage they begin to jump up and down at the same time at the central market. They hope that this procedure could sink the Turku. This has too failed so far so the next thing they do is to pour some clean water from Tampere's Tammerkoski rapids to the dirty and polluted river Aura that floats trough Turku downtown. There's a small pedestrian ferry called Föri that sails between the river Aura's bends. The purifying operation takes place from the deck of Föri. Also a part of the union's traditions is to enjoy a drink of Plörö on the deck of Föri while singing various drinking songs.

And the point of all this is to tell what kind of drink is Plörö.

    Plörö

    Ingredients:

    Some Coffee

    Any clear spirit, like

    A coin and a mug

    - Take the mug and put the coin in it.

    - Pour coffee to the mug until you can't see the coin through coffee.

    - Pour liquor to the mug so that you can see the coin again.
