Make sure you have something in there named nitelite. That little detail is so easy to forget.

Great work!

I think I know what the problem is.

Your night material, or probably the day one that is supposed to be replaced is aprt of multimaterial. That could be by design or by situation - when you just assign different material to some faces. This substitution only works then material is the ONLY one assigned to the object.

toxicpiano: Yeah, the render barely worked.  I had lots of funny renders at first.  I just re-merged the scene and it got fixed... kinda funny.  Thanks for the support, though...

crushedcar:  Ehh, I don't think that's it, maybe something in the scene is named nitelite that isn't supposed to be, or even more likely it is what simfox said.  Thanks for the advice though. 19.gif

SimFox: Yeah, I do use tons of multi-materials in the scene, which makes me kinda worried because of this line in the script:

else    --multimaterial or blend.  if multimaterial itself contains multimaterial, tough luck

         (

                bogus = 0

         2.gif  -- end of if and elsequote>

So maybe using the multi-material in the night library will work?  I'll test it out tonight, thanks! 19.gif

edit:  Thanks SimFox, I got the night library working now.  Apparently, you can't use a material inside a multi material, you must use that milti material in the night library.  I guess that the script just strips the object with that material of the day version and replaces it with the night... The full "beta" render should be available by tomorow if there are no strange renders that I get. 9.gif

I started a new project, called the Old Morrison Administration Building.  It's a real building too!

    Perspectives:

    Front:

    back:

This is its basic shape, So all I have to do now is texturing and mass detailing... Also this is a job 10.gif.

I was thinking to myself right after i saw this, 10/10 perfect rating on STEX 4.gif I hope its true, but there are always unappreciative *insert derogatory plural noun here* that feel the need to voice negative opinions.

crushedcar: Thanks, I'm glad you like it so much.

Sim shady:  Thanks for the support!  19.gif  Yeah, that would be nice, but not easy to achieve...

Not really an update, but still... 3.gif

Like I said, this isn't really an update, but better!  No, no fancy perspective shots, but a video!  (link)  It's a rendering of the Old Morrison Building going through the day with Mr Sun and Sky.  Give it some time to load, too.

    Enjoy!

All I can say now is that it's Vacation time!  I'll be out and unable to update for the next week or so, sorry.

Sim shady:  Thanks.  I remember when I went to Hawaii, it was one of my favorite vacations!

But I gat a little ahead of myself, forgot about the packing... so been doing that all day today.

For now, here is something I scrathced up in the last half hour:

    art deco

josefmayor:  Glad you like it! 19.gif

Well, I'm back from my vacation!  All I can say about it is that spiders were more common than ants... and I'm not a spider person 3.gif.

    Anyway, another quick update:

    Bowlingreen Office Park

I gave the building more "base" by adding a little roof with a title on it.  It reads "BOWLINGREEN OFFICE PARK" (Yes, in all caps).

Also, it's supposed to be that long.  It's a really long building.

    enjoy!

Simfan34: yeah, it's that long.  Maybe it looks bad in that picture because the sides are empty.

    How about this:

Jasoncw: Glad you like it!  Maybe the bad detail is because the building is missing windows?  I fixed it now, what do you think?
Sim shady: Glad you like it! 19.gif
patriots_1228: Aww thanks... but I wouldn't say new 3.gif, I've played with 3d for quite some time now...  Glad you like it!

Anyway here maybe the last (or second to last) update for today, depends how long the coffee will last.
    zoom five
    zoom five

    04.jpg

As you can see, I'm no where near finished with this, but I think (hope) I have the basic shape of it layed out... remember, I'm making this up as I go along.
    Enjoy! 19.gif

SimRabbit:  Fatty one, lol 3.gif  Glad you like 'em!

Sim shady: A grand balcony?  Sounds like a good idea, but where 22.gif?Maybe the front plaza area...  Thanks for the support!

The Boolean tool is a very interesting thing.  It works most of the time ad leaves great results, but sometimes it all out fails on you and makes you wish you never used it...15.gif

    This is what I mean:

    Boolean tool

Because the tool kept on failing all morning for me, I just decided to redo the whole wing (in blue now) It was a success until I rendered a preview and saw an ugly dark blue trapazoid sitting on one of the walls.  Anyone know how to fix this?  It's been bugging me all morning. 32.gif

Anyway, you can see the basic shape of this wing of the building.  Here is the half of the back of the building:

Half of the back of the building

It's still being completed (this is why it's blue)... and trying to be fixed.

    Enjoy! 19.gif

edit: Fixed the boolean problem... err that is I made it look better.  For some reason, there were overlapping faces in that spot, so I just deleted those all the faces on that wall and applied a cap-holes modifier to that particular spot... which made a nasty modifier stack.

But still, if anyone knows a more conventional way of doing this, please tell me!

This is what it looks like now:

Lol if it were me I would just edit mesh the trapazoid out, or even just cover it over (I'm lazy lol), But you are clearly far more professional than that. Looks very pretty btw 9.gif

toxicpiano:  Well, I guess you're not as lazy as me cuz editing the mesh out would have been much harder than a bunch of modifiers in a stack (and much cleaner too!) 3.gif  Glad you like the building though!

Here is another mini-update, I have the windows on the wing that I've been working on finished and almost done with the entrence/exit for the wing:
Starting from North to east to south to west:
    north
    east
    south
    west
Also I turnded up the final gatherer up by 2 so this is why it's so bright.
    Enjoy! 19.gif

    Sim shady: Thanks!

Jasoncw:  Polygons are cleaner, but I think in this case Booleans are much quicker and easier to work with.  I noticed that having more than one boolean on a single mesh causes problems, bad ones; and having a complicated operand or mesh may cause some face overlapping (which can be easily fized with a couple of modifiers 19.gif)  But thanks for the tuturial (even though I can't make out every word, but hey, this is what google translate is for 3.gif), it's very helpful!

Anyway here is a game preview:

    game preview

Doesn't look like it should be there... and it's a bit too bright, whad do you all think?

I also try a hand at some roof junk, where I used polygon 9.gif editing:

    Roof junk

    Close up:

edit: photobucket is being bad to me...

    Close up

    also, here's an oldie:

    oldie

The shadows are pitch black, but this can be fixed easily...

    Enjoy! 19.gif

    Hmm.. no comments 22.gif

    Maybe because st was down...

    Anyway, I have an update:

a zoom five preview with some roof junk (the roof junk is still very subject to change)

    roof junk

I don't really like the job that I've done with the roof though, looks kind of odd...

And here is one of the fans with very render intensive textures (just for fun!)

    Air cooler

Maybe I'll keep those textures, they look nice...

    enjoy! 19.gif

    srry for no comments.

I think one thing you can do to improve the roof is to add an entrance to the roof. Have a peek at the roof junk thread stickied at the top of the bat workshop forum too.

I love how many pictures and how frequently you post 4.gif Its great to be updated on a regular basis like that!
