Bingo! I can post again!

Yay! Something that is better than SCS! I hope Monte Cristo is a bit more understanding than TM...Monte actually wants to create a city game that is relistic, unlike TM which is more for futuristic stuff and un-relistic things and from a CREATOR THAT IS A COMPETITOR WITH ONE OF AMERICA's BEST GAME CREATORS! (*hint* *hint*, Maxis)

At least Monte Cristo designed City Life with himself...and for this one,too....

I once wanted to buy the first City Life, but since I heard that SimCity 4 was better than this, I decided to forget City Life and play SC4. But....right now the tables have turned...and it seems like with one screenshot, I am sold on City Life 2 (uncomfirmed title).

i just hope they have a good BAT and stuff. That will be the difference between wether this becomes a fun game or a sc4 type game(more than just fun)

Photos are all well in good but what about the gameplay. Of both games we know nothing really. Although, so far, City Life 2 seems to be the winner in my book as its developer seems to be embracing city building whereas the other is opting for less city (too complex in their own words) and more society.... City Life's engine is already there for the biggest request: you could build off-grid. The game needed some major polishing in other areas and ultimately couldn't be saved, but the intial starting ingredients were certainly there. I'll keep an eye on its development. Who knows maybe my next city builder will be City Life and not Sim City at all.

now this is what SC5 should have looked like, this looks much better tan the first city life, it's not as cartoony as the first one, oh well, if SC5 doesn't turn out good then i can always play this wow.... i agree with Micah, i'll have to keep an eye out on this

I actually assumed this would happen: another company seizing the opportunity to produce a realistic city building game to fill the niche now left open by the SimCity franchise. Even if we don't get out long-awaited SC5 (at least not how we imagined it), it seems Monte Cristo (and possibly other companies) will fill the void. This is good news!

I am not saying CityLife's next take on the series will do better than SCS. I am just saying that screenshot really rocks. It's almost like what I imagined SC5 should have been...pity.

That does look rather good. As long as it does not take a monster of a system to keep it going - and as long as that is a true ingame screen shot and not simply a promo shot - I will have to take a strong look at this.

This looks really good, a little cartoonish, but way better than SCS (sad to say15.gif) I'll have to keep this one in mind.  If its better than SCS I'm buying.2.gif

Indeed! Just how we've been saying how those photos of Simcity Societies were from early in the production, I think we need to have an open mind that these photos are from early in the production as well.

But in any case, if the requirements aren't "over the top" and if the graphics remain the same, I'll be sure to buy this!

Man what one screenshot can do. The SCS screenie was ridiculed while this one is pretty much accepted and even praised. I've never played City Life so I'm not sure of the gameplay, but I can see there's some realism in the graphics including cars based on actual real-life models, advertisements, plus bus stops on the sidewalk and the elevated subway.

I'll give this one a look, but I'm not sold on this one yet... just like SCS... however my initial reaction was more positive.

Love that picture... Man, I hope it pans out. Even if neither game is a Sim City like we know; this is DEFINITELY holding more promise.

As far as relating to Tonkso's comment last page, I think the rolling stock may be similar, but I think it's definitely meant to mimic the Chicago El. That color and shape of trestle is common to Chicago's elevated lines, except for the newer ones. I bet it's just trying to look eclectic and urban rather than specifically British

...What I think is that come on! SCS had kinda bad screenshots, and their game has been developing for a while now, and Monte Cristo is already ahead with this screenshot...it looks WAY more promising then the tacky, futuristic style SCS.

But...don't ever judge a book by its cover, and same here, these games are in very early stage developments, and we can't tell what this is all about. Though I have not ever played City Life before, I read up on it and the reviews said that it had great graphics, but WAY to repetitive. SC4 was hardly repetitive, and it was very diverse. City Life has a more in-depth of its citizens, however, its not at the point where SCS forgets the city building part and focuses on the people. That is why we have The Sims and the Sims 2.

What I have heard is that City Life includes citizen stuff, which is a bit more descriptive than a microphone and a thought bubble with an icon on it, but the game focuses mainly on the city building things.

Oh, and how am I getting this information? Go to Wikipedia.com, and boy, they got info when you need it.

just playing devils advicate here...   but the polish and look of the CL2 screen looks like some great thought went into it... you dont come up with that in a few days.... well least if your not Simgoober or ill-tonkso or someone 4.gif

Could the rushed look of the SC:S pictures be a respones to rumors that Monty Christo was well into development of CL2 and maybe even planing an anoucement soon....I mean E3 is only like a month or something away...

They had said... after the release of the first... and again after the updated version came out that they had learned alot... and were already working on the follow up?

Maybe EA got a bit conserned about having a bit of competition.....  you know they hate to loose a buck...

just wondering... thats all?

That screenshot looks pretty good. I'll be watching this one as it develops.

Now I have to keep track of developments with City Life 2, SimCity Societies, Simtropolis 1000, and Colossal Add-on Mod. So many choices. 48.gif

Though, it is interesting that many in the community were not happy (myself included) that SCS screenshots looked like City Life and now Monte Cristo is coming out with City Life 2 and has managed to grab our attention. The market will go with whoever gives us what we want.

The City Life market may go to us, but the more average market may go to SCS and there would be no losers...eh?

Did anyone notice that the mini-cooper almost ran over a pedestrian? Maybe there's some symbolism there. Like Monte Cristo is going to run over slow moving EA and their pathetic excuse for a city simulator. And after watching that video, on custom content creation I'm practically sold. If it works on my computer... well EA better pray hard.

One of the SCS screens also shows a mime on the street with people walking away from him. Now THERE's symbolism.

Hmmm...reverse psychology going on here. TM actually created this buzz, because they know the initial fan reactions they were getting, so they're going under the guise of...to...and...ah forget it. 3.gif
