Again...astounding!

I don't want to nag with a request. But I think it would be really cool if you did Washington DC.

Anyways, whatever you do it would be beautiful...Sydney also comes to mind. Miami, FL, Rome, and Tokyo are all cities that I think would be cool to see also.

Lol...as I said, beautiful. A feast for the eyes. Do you create the entire city, or just the areas where the photos are taken?

Hey D.

I like the way that you obviously put a lot of time and effort in to capture the essence of the city you are re-creating. Also the history and information that goes with your pictures is really good - much more interesting to actually know what we are looking at, rather than just a series of pictures.

*gasp*

Is that a real picture? Are you cheating? It looks real! It looks almost exactly alike! That's amazing! It's got all the touches of the real city! The ground rail, the apartments, prefab...I think this was your best update yet.

Now, if only I had more plugins...hehehe.

Once again another awesome update.... great so your going to do both LA and Chicago later, cool. One question how do you make the cites you do so darn realistic?  And another thing, outa curiosity do you have the file for night lighting, cause i can't find it on the SC4 site.

Spectacular work! I can tell you spent a long time on this update because the level of detail is amazing.

I just have two questions though about some things. Is the traffic circle of Victory Column a 2x2 circle? I’ve been trying to make Columbus Circle (for my New York CJ) a 2x2 but I can only seem to make a 1x1.

It looks like your using custom walkways in the park next to Rotes Rathaus. Did you make them yourself or did you find them somewhere?

Practically half the community is here and it's no wonder why- this is a really great CJ! It's even inspiring me to create something similar.

    WASHINGTON D.C

Washington D.C is the capital city of the United States, located in the federal district called The District of Columbia. The city is named after General George Washington, a military leader of the American Revolution and the first President of the United States. The district was founded on July 16, 1790 when James Madison and Alexander Hamilton had a dinner over deciding where the new capital would be located. On August 24, 1814, The entire city was burned to the ground by British forces. The entire city was rebuilt and a new city plan was put in place. Today, Washington D.C is the center of all three branches of the U.S federal government which are all based in the city, where they can make important laws and regulations. Washington D.C is also the residence to the White House and The President. Because it is the center of American politics, Washington D.C is a frequent location for political protests and demonstrations. Washington is also a major tourist hub, due to many landmarks and monuments located in the city, most are located in the National Mall, a large open area of parks and gardens in the center of the city.

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is one of Washington D.C's most familiar sights, located directly east from the Lincoln Memorial, it is a long rectangular pool. The Reflecting Pool is about 2,000 feet long and 167 feet wide holding 6,750,000 gallons of water. The site around the pool is filled with large parks and open green spaces great for a walk.

The Lincoln Memorial is a United States Presidential Memorial built to honor the 16th President Abraham Lincoln. Henry Bacon, Daniel Chester French and Jules Guerin worked together in the 1920's to help turn the swampland off the Potomac River into a national site. The building has a seated sculpture of Abraham Lincoln and inscriptions of two of his well-known speeches. The memorial has been a huge part of American culture, It is located in the back of the 5 dollar bill and in the back of the penny [1 cent coin], The Lincoln Memorial was also the site for Martin Luther King's 'I have a Dream Speech' in 1963.

Taking Memorial Drive from the Lincoln Memorial across the Potomac River leads to the entrance of Arlington National Cemetery. Arlington National Cemetery is an American military cemetery established during the Civil War to house soldiers who had died in battle covering 624 acres. More than 300,000 persons are buried here and veterans from every one of the nation's wars are interred here. The cemetery is where the changing of the guards take place everyday and is the location for the Tomb of the Unknowns.

The United States Capitol is the building that serves as the location for the United States Congress, and the legislative branch of the federal government. It is located on Capitol Hill at the east end of the National Mall and is a major tourist center with tours of the landmark constantly running. The building was designed by William Thornton, and his plan was modified by Benjamin Latrobe and then Charles Bulfinch. The dome and House and Senate wings of the building were designed by Thomas U. Walter and August Schoenborn. The center of the building contains a massive rotunda dome that seperates the two wings. The Rotunda is 96 feet in diameter and rises 180 feet and is visited by thousands of people everyday.

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is a presidential memorial dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, an American Founding Father and the third president of the United States. The building was designed by John Russel Pope in a neoclassical style, opening in 1943. John Russel Pope said he used the Roman Pantheon and Jeffreson's own designs for the Rotunda. The memorial is located in West Potomac Park, on the shore of the Tidal Basin of the Potomac River. The inside of the memorial contains a 19 foot tall, 5 ton bronze statue of Jefferson sculpted by Rudulph Evans. The walls are also engraved with many of Thomas Jefferson's writing.

The National Mall is an open area national park in downtown Washington. The National Mall was originally designed in 1791 by Peter Charles L'Enfant in his plans for the city. Located in the heart of downtown Washington D.C, it's a popular site for protests and rallies of all types, but is commonly used by tourists and locals to relax from the stress of the city life. The National Mall is home to many landmarks such as the Washington Monument, The Capitol, The Smithsonian Institutes and countless museums.

The Washington Monument is a large obelisk that is located at the west end of the National Mall built for George Washington, the first president of the United States. The monument hovers over all of Washington D.C at 555 feet made up of marble, granite and sandstone. The structure was designed by Robert Mills and construction started in 1848, but due to lack of funds and the American Civil War, The project was put on hold until 1884, this is why there are two different shades of marble in the monument. When the Washington Monument opened in October 9, 1888, It became the world's tallest structure.Today, It remains the tallest structure in Washington D.C and because of strict zoning and planning laws, no building in the city can be taller than the monument.

    whitehousell6.jpg

The White House is the official home and workplace of the President of the United States of america. Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington D.C, The home is built in a late Georgian style with white painted sandstone giving it its name of the White House. The original house was ready for occupancy in 1800, but was totally destroyed in the 1814 fire, but was quickly rebuilt. Many presidents have expanded the house into what it is today. The White House includes six stories, 132 room and 35 bathroom making the entire area of the house around 55,000 ft.

    nationalarchiveskv2.jpg

The National Archives Building is located north of the National Mall on Constitution Avenue in the heart of Washington D.C. The original headquarters at the site opened in 1935 and has been running every since. The building holds the original copies of the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and the Bill of Rights as well as the copy of the 1297 issue of Magna Carta. These can be viewed by the public in the Rotunda. The National Archives Building also holds other important American documents like the Louisiana Purchase and Emancipation Proclamation.

    NOTE

I'll be heading off to Rio de Janeiro next week for 3 weeks to spend time with my family, so I will not have an update until the end of July. I'll make sure to take a lot of pictures to share for when I return. I hope you guys have a great summer break, I already have an update planned for when I return so look out for it! 4.gif

    REPLIES

CarmineHilton: Thank you! Hm, I have never really known much about Brussels, Maybe I'll recreate it, Who knows? 3.gif

homeandaway: Hi, I fixed the 'Fern' mosaic, You beat me to it though lol. I am thinking of doing a special update that shows a particular natural section of the world, like the Amazon. It is kind of a city in many ways. I'll look forward to your Australia project. Come again!

granto93: Thank you! I usually plan the area around the landmarks using Google Earth. I may not do every road the exactly the same because some things in SC4 are limited. The rest of the city, I do it in my own style but I try to keep it accurate. Thanks for commenting!

    cleaner475: Thanks!

Tolsome: Thanks for your comments, I fixed most of what you suggested.

bokrif: Thank you! 4.gif To plop things inside the Roundabout, Bulldoze the gardens inside it, Cheers!

Mulefisk: Hello! The Reichstag is very close to the Gate, but not necessarily next to it. According to Google Earth, It is located next to the Spree but it makes a curve right when it reaches the building [i didn't really depict that though]. Here is a picture if you don't understand. Cheers! http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/1492/untitledfh3.jpg

    zelgadis: Thanks!

TheSixCents: Thank you, Glad you liked it!

samuelzrp: Thank you for your comment, I don't want to make my text so long that it gets boring, I thought the text for Berlin was more detailed than other updates, but I will try to make it longer, I'm happy to know that you're reading.

    beebs: Thank you beebs!

patriots_1228: lol, Thanks! I can't speak German, I only know that a Frank is a hotdog. Happy you liked it!

koekie01: Thank you! I got the landmarks from the LEX and STEX 4.gif The GLR in Avenue can be found in the new NAM June/May Version.

Krio: lol, dirty krio! Thanks though!

Yoman3: Yep, lots lots lots and lots of replies lol. I had to get rid of that road or else Glenni would be very angry 3.gif

    crazyyaya: Thanks!

    Glenni: lol, Thanks Glenni!

    HabLeUrG: Me? Genius? Naw...lol, Thanks!

fledder200: Ahahaha, I knew you were going to mention that! Thanks for commenting Ferry 4.gif

    Giligone: Thank you!

Dark_Jedi06: Hey DJ! oh...a rhyme! Glad you're liking it! These replies sure do take a long time [ 30 minutes - 11/2 hour] to answer but it's worth it 9.gif

    Amerikaner: Thank you!

Godzillaman: Thanks, The next city is a secret [or I haven't made up my mind yet lol]

topcliff: Thank you! I am going to do some smaller cities that aren't as well known like Seattle, Helsinki, Shenzhen, etc. I don't think I will be doing Sacramento, but my mind always changes when there are nice landmarks that I can download lol.

Explodingsims: I think you might have posted when flickr had one of its moods, They should be working now!

autoVino: Thank you! It usually takes me 6-7 hours to do an entire update, however, I don't usually do it all at one time, but that changes if I get inspiration. Cheers!

    Mikeaut1: Thanks Mike!

    sEAhAwk fAn121: Thank you!

___idiotbox: Hey Ellie! Thanks for posting, I'm glad you like them, Berlin is a very beautiful city indeed! Keep on commenting because I always look forward to your comments 4.gif

C0ckatoo-210893: Thank you! Berlin does not have those open grass spaces, but Berlin has a lot of parks with trees [which is why I fixed the pictures after you mentioned it]. I think the grass areas look much better with the added flora, Come again!

capitol1: Thank you! lol, 60 comments for the Dubai update, It must be a record or something! I'm very happy people are enjoying this journal 4.gif

Sim_BOB: Thank you, I did that intersection with the new NAM pieces.

Shadow_Assassin: Thank you! We shall continue 4.gif Hope you liked this update aswell!

rooker1: Nice to know you're out there watching, I always looked forward to your comments when I was a resident in devotion and will continue so here 9.gif

    JanYpe: Thank  you 4.gif

tommiej: Thanks! I know I forgot the S-bahn and U-bahn but my elevated rail had issues with crashing so I decided to keep it out of the update, It's fixed now so I'll see if I add the pictures later on. I don't know about the populations, Different websites say different numbers but I'm just stating what's coming from wikipedia! I am totally not even going to check out the demo for Societies, I don't think you can recreate the world with gingerbread houses, flying signals, and candy cane street lights. I'll stick to SC4 and Cities Unlimited! I don't do region shots because I think it loses the effects because my regions are always a mess, but I'll show some non-5zoom pictures!

Uumke: Wow, Thank you! For the Sie...[don't know the spelling] is not on the STEX. I used a similar statue that is found in Mexico City for this update.

    skyliner22: Thank you!

jacqulina: Thank you Jacky as always!

    Benedict: Thanks!

    Mike the Mayor: Thank you!

    GreekMan: Thanks =)

Voulpiotis: Thanks! Both the roundabout and GLR in avenue can be found in the new NAM!

ODST_27: Thank you, Look at the above comment ^^^

    kibblewitbit: Thank for commenting!

    topcliff: Yep, Thanks for helping!

    gmavignier: Thanks 4.gif

lucky7: Thanks lucky, I know that the Berlin update wasn't perfect, but it was hard to build Berlin, especially since there really isn't an accurate recreation of the city, but I tried my best and hoped you all enjoyed it!

silentbreaker: Thank you, I fixed the open grass spaces!

    frogface: Thanks Frogstew 9.gif

Deever: Thank you for your commentary, I have a private topic where I develop the post that will end up being the update, I don't do the entire update in one time, I go back, write an article, come back the next day, Fix some pictures, and I usually answer my comments this way.

LegoMyDego28: Thanks! You can get the GLR in avenue with the new NAM.

    jj88: Thanks!

2ch.net simplayer: Thanks for the comment!

    mjig_dudy: Thanks dudy 4.gif

Interchange: They are from Andreas Roth.

BlondeTwiggy: lol, Thank you! I know you're familiar with D.C so I hope you like this one 4.gif

dev: Thanks! D.C got done in this update, Sydney, Miami, Rome and Tokyo will be done in this journal, I don't recreate the entire city, I make mini cities but a bit more detailed, I'll show the finished region when I finish all the cities.

    jimbob1000: Thank you!

    bat: Thanks 4.gif

abcvs: Thanks, Glad you're liking it, Come again!

    IDS2: lol, Thank you!

    ExiL3: Thank you! 4.gif

CWLGAMER01: Glad it's accurate, I spent a lot of time in Google Earth, Thank you!

nousername: Thank you! I just look at maps of the cities I recreate and try to use things that are found in those cities [ie: I used glr-in-avenue for berlin, double decker buses for london, and bats from the city themselves]. Yes, I have the night lighting plugin, I got it from simcity.ea.com, It should be there.

Hanson784: Thank you! The traffic circle is made with the new June/May version of the NAM, It can be found in the Modds and Downloads Section. The walkways I use are made by jeronji and can be found in the sc4devotion LEX.

rhinestonericky: Thanks, I used marrast's embankment set.

Great work again! Gotta love those parkways with the trees.

Only one thing I've noticed and that's we seem to be seeing more of just the landmarks and less of the actual city. I know it's hard to re-create a city every week and a bit just for a CJ but I'd really like to see more buildings (development) and some zoomed out shots wouldn't hurt too. If you're not doing this than that's fine but it's what I'd like to see

By the way that picture of the cemetery looks fantastic!
