How many people on here have made cities with over 1 million sims?  Just curious because today I achieved this milestone for the first time ever 4.gif .

1,000,398 sims screenshot capture

(Sorry for the poor quality, but I don't know how to take an actual screenshot of the population bar without the game minimizing it). 15.gif

Typically, I will build a region with 3 - 4 millions sims. But, in a single tile, I consider 300,000 ideal if the large tile is mostly residential. When building a city, consider that even a large tile is about 3 miles long by 2.25 miles. To determine the number of peeps per sq mile, use this equation (XY - A) / C, where x is the length of the tile, y is the depth of city tile, A is the sq miles that water or non habitital land use, and C is the number of sims.

I'm currently playing a region of 5.1 million. The main city holds 1.2 million itself, my biggest city ever. Most of the downtown core is popables.

ctrl+left shift+s for ongame screenshots, or the printscreen button on the keyboard, after the game, open a graphic program and then you sould be able to paste the pic taken with printscreen.

my current city has 1.3 million, but that's region-wide population and yet 95% low density cuz it's going to be 1 city in the end.

maybe I'll get a single-tile to cross the one million as soon as I come to high density...

Here we go, proof that I did it: (this is a different city than the one in my first post btw):

It takes forever to get there, I'm still fine tuning my particular ways on how to do it. 4.gif

I have an 18.5 million citizen region. The capital city has 2.1 million and two satellite metropolitans have ~1.2 million each. I could get the capital city higher in population but it would be at the expense of aesthetics and it already looks like a forest of metal towers. I find some height variation and open spaces lends greatly to the overall look of a city. It's fun to crank out a 3-4 million city but it ends up looking like a vast field of metal trees and not anything like a real city.

The key I find in getting high populations is not only developing an ample job base but low pollution. I know it's a cheat but plop a pollution condenser in a 300,000 Sim city and watch it explode to 400,000+ in little time.

Only one, just under the population you have. 1,002,000 or something.

My first city in SC4 Vanllia made 1 million sims, after that I've made one 1,3 million sims city.

Biggest region has been my first region in RH, Tasavalta which had 4,1 million sims and largest city's population was 600 000.

It is easy to cram a million plus simians into a large parcel of land in Sim City because of the disproportionately high values for population that the game gives. How many single-family houses can really have 8-15 people living in them? I use modds that actually lower the values for residential buildings, because I feel it adds more realism to the game.

Given that a small city parcel is pretty much equivalent to a square kilometer, a large parcel representing New York City should only have a population of 165,056, given that the population density for NYC is 10,316/km^2. Even a large square representing somewhere in Manhattan should have, at max 310,000 people. (population of Manhattan is 1.6 million distributed on 51.8 km^2) Even factoring in the highest population density, 48,007/km^2, which is Male in the Maldives according to Wikipedia. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_selected_cities_by_population_density), a large tile would still only be 768,112 with that density.

It would be interesting to see how someone would do if the parameters were changed, and the densities were changed to reflect real life.

    Sorry for quasi-off-topic post...

I managed a 300,000-sim-row of filing cabinets on a medium tile once...

I'm new here and with the game too

I make a special region where all the people haven't got a lot of space in the real world and my intention isn't create a high density city. It's create a high density region

soon you have notices about me

Please, sorry for my bad english

no, you need just enough space and only highrise, medium tile or Large. Build commericial in center of tile, also highrise and build highrise residential around it.

I play with a region of 160 large tiles. Have already 1.3 million peope on 5 tiles.
