For the second part, I think that should be possible.  I've never personally done it, but I've heard that it is.  Also, after converting something into an editable poly, you can select parts of it, and there should be a button called "detach" somewhere, which will detach the selected parts and make them into a new object if you want.quote>

1 object - 2 textures

Is it possible?

More specificaly, convert your object to editable mesh or poly, goto "face" mode, and select a face or faces that you want to apply a material to.  Then goto material editor and apply the material to those faces (make sure you keep it in face mode); then, in the modifier stack, add a "uv modifier" to it.  Mess around until you get the results you like! 19.gif

Thanks autoVino4.gif By the way you can't see the selected faces that are red as soon as you select them in the perspective viewport, right?

Im trying to make in photoshop or find some custom nitewindow maps for the bat .i tryed making bmp , and jpeg images, but i cant get them to show in the bat parameters rollout , the files are in the correct folder and correct sizes . Id like to know how to make them if anyone can tell me how that would be cool .

2 texture s  1 object ,wouldnt you just make a new texture combining the 2 ? Im aware of a maps rollout in material navigator , maybe the is a way through this also ?.

If your describing you already made your own nitewindows, and already put them in the folder, have you tried drag and drop? In the menu with the hammer icon, there should be something called asset browser. That button opens up what looks like a image browser, it is kinda complicated, but on the left of the asset browser, theres all sorts of links to open folders. I had located it to My Pictures folder, and placed junk I made, and other textures for SimCity 4 in there. Plus then, you have to add the My Pictures folder to favorites, so the BAT has the link to you picture folder, so you don't have to search thru the folders again. You know, when the window is there, showing you the images, you can just click and hold on the mesh or texture, and move the cursor over the object. Well, it works for me, I hope this answers your problem, because, I don't try using the default program folder for BAT to locate those. The only other thing is, you didn't press the button, edit to convertible mesh option on.

Make sure thumbs.db is not in the folder.

The file is generated every time you view the contents of the folder in thumbnail view, and the file holds information for the thumbnails and things.

    Hello. Here's a preview render:

You can see that the top of the tower doesn't appear. What can I do?

Go to the place where you do preview renders, and around there, there should be another rollout called "Parameters". Click on that, and then reset your lights, cameras, and LODs using the buttons there.

    Thanks1.gif

    Edit:

I just added nightlights. I created a render preview. The day render appears but then there's a render called 'night lights'. I can see it for 1 or 2 seconds and then there's suddenly a render called 'night render'. This render doesn not include the lights i added.

    Sorry for the double post.

Edit your old post instead of double posting.

That's normal.  Put your building into the game and you can see that they're both there.  It's just that they are done on different renders because they are different things.  The nitemaps (like "niteliteplane01") tell the game where needs to be filled in with the generic nitelite texture.  The nitelites (like "niteliteomni01") are real lights, and that render will be overlayed with some other things in the game to finish the night view.

If you don't have any nitelites, the BAT will not render them, or include them in the .SC4Model file, and you'll actually have a much smaller filesize.

Press Alt + 6... or goto Customize -> Show UI -> Show MainToolbar... 19.gif

What I don't understand is why it isn't up after you installed bat... strange. 42.gif

Hello. I have an object (box) and i want to 'put a hole into it'...sounds stupid, i know. This could help me to create an entrance. I know that there's a modifier in 3dsMax that's able to do that but is it also possible in Gmax?

By the way the modifier worked like this: you have two boxes, one of 'em is a little smaller than the other one. You drag the small one to the place of the entrance (= hole), you choose the bigger one and add the modifier (don't remember the name),select the small box and that's it!

    Do you have any idea?

Hey guys  ,i am trying to put a shine , or a tint of reflection on my window textures , upto now with the 100,s of tests ive tryed i have been unable to achieve this look ,some times i might drop half lucky , but its been very hit and miss upto now . I am aware that extra maps are  required , like reflection map, glossiness ect,  but i am not sure how these maps should look in respect to what i am trying to achieve , any advise on reflection, glossiness maps and how to use/create them would be greatly appriciated.

Momo:  You need to boolean out the hole.  It's not a modifier.  I think it's described in one of the tutorials around here.  I'm not on my normal computer, so I can't tell you exactly where it is though.

Gridlick:  In Gmax, the lighting is too crude for those things to have a lot of meaning.  Instead, you'll have to "paint" on window reflections using custom textures.  There's tutorials about how I make my windows in my signature.

A bat as in an actual model?  Then you can just go into gmax and open it up.

If it is a lot and stuff like that, put it into your my documents plugin folder.
