I got a problem. Whenever I do a preview render / render it doesn't show the whole building ( if the object reaches a certain size of course; small houses ain't a problem 3.gif ).

Example:

Hope you can help!

Click the "refit lods" button in the parameters section.

I'm having a problem with texturing. Yesterday I was texturing a building, I saved it. I came back today, and it won't let me apply a texture to anything! I tried all the textures I have, and none of them will apply.

I've got another problem

Wha.jpg
What's with the blue box over my model? More importantly, how do I get rid of it? I'm trying to design a building, not a blue box....

As you can see, they are the LODs. The LODs are the 3D objects that will be used in the game. In the game, buildings are these 3D objects, with pre-rendered images of buildings overlayed on top of them.

You can delete the LODs whenever you see them, new ones will be generated before you export it.

Or you can hide them (or anything) by right clicking the objects, and then hiding them from the menu that comes up.

Just wanted to say that for everybody who has the problem with not being able to choose different nightwindow intensities: Try using Dusktrooper's nightwindow map "Oatmeal". It creates a look that appears as if different intensities were applied. Download on STEX.

I've got a texture problem. A couple of my textures won't show up in the preview. They get replaced by an off-while colour. I can see them when I desgin, but not when I preview them. Thye did show up before, but now they don't. 42.gif

None of my image editing programs let me open the file.  Is there any way you could list out possible problems/ corresponding solutions?

YoshiIsland:  Press the "Prnt Scrn" or "Print Screen" key on your keyboard.  This copies the screen.  Then you open an image editing program, create a new file, and paste the screenshot into the new file.

RockRaider:  Did you click on the blue checkered box?

You have a light shining on it?  If the light is too bright, it could be totally bleaching out the texture.  Try removing the light, and see if that does anything.

Did you move the file of the texture?  If you moved the texture file, you'll have to change the path in the material editor to the new location of the file.

Can you show a screenshot of what is happening?

Double check and make sure that there is a uvw map, and that the blue checkered box is checked.

Also make sure that there is a texture applied to it.  And make sure that there is only one of the object there (if there are clones of the same object, and only one of them has the texture, the other object might be covering them up).

And if that doesn't work, just delete the problem objects, remake them, and remake the texture.

Don't worry about giving people sneak previews.  I think you should open a thread here before you release something, so that you can get feedback.  For example, your flag pole looks like it's a meter thick, and your flat roof has shingles, and the singles look to be a few meters big too.

Ok, I have a rendering issue with GMAX (that might explain a lot).

I am trying to render a building that stands about 600M tall in GMAX, with a footprint of about 120x120. It renders to the end of Zoom 5 South Night and then gives me and ERROR CODE 6.

I don't get it at all though, my computer has enough memory, no other programs are open, and I'm not  getting any OS Errors. I don't think the file is read only, but I'm not sure on that one. The Building was a free model on turbosquid, also. Please help. This is really annoying.

This may mean that bat is having trouble working with the output files or is having trouble initializing the next render... probalby the latter.  I noticed that error six occures when the model is just too big or your computer is having trouble and gives you an unknown system exception that gets caught by the script so that the program doesn't crash and everything is nicely cleaned (ie, garbage collecting)...  btw, if you do get an os error during the script, it will show up as a generic error, such as code 6, because of a script safegaurd that's programmed in... (try...catch methods)

Sorry that I couldn't be more help...

Gmax just can’t handle big models. It has some severe technical limitations - like amount of memory it can utilize (no more than about 300Mb if I remember correctly) also it can use only one CPU/one core and so on... All in all it's not set to punish megalomania.
Also I seriously doubt that it is possible to create a model in GMAX that at this size would look good, or even decent at Zoom5

    PS
depending on the model some optimisation may help, but that's impossible to gage without seing one...

This is because that one strange point is a bezier or smooth point (this means that you draged your lines, not click, let go, click let go... dragging is used for smooth lines, the latter is for what your doing).  Click on the modify tab and where it says line click on it once.  Select that strange point, right click and set it to corner.
    Hope that helps! 19.gif

Neither of these have to do with the BAT, but oh well.

Pitch, you probably need to increase your graphics settings in SC4.

Jugioh1012, it says "New Topic" at the top of the page, next to "profile".  For information on starting CJs, go to the CJ forum and read the threads at the top of the page there, they will give you information.
