Belfastuniguy...what is China, then? I believe it is socialist...with the government controlling major industries outside the Special Economic Zones (SEZ). It has a communist/socialist format in its head government platform...just wondering how you view China.

China Government: Communist

China Economy: Controlled (That describes an economy where the government exercises control, more than in other countries, it's a simplified breakdown of what I was going to say)

I image China will take the same route it's biggest city (Shanghai) is; sinking. With all of the problems exporters have been having the last few weeks it wouldn't be surprising to me if it collapses in the next decade.

Economically China is dependant upon exporting goods to other nations, which is good provided there are no economic setbacks anywhere.  If an economic setback occurs in a nation importing from China that's obviously going to reverberate through the entire Chinese economy.  Obviously this implies that a Western nation will esuffer a financial collapse first(United States anyone?), and that will be the catalyst for a Chinse collapse.  

I estimate the time frame for such a collapse to occur anywhere in the next year to twenty years.

I don't predict financial collapse for a good many years to come, but it will happen. Maybe not Great Depression style maybe more like the late 80's, but it's the natural economic cycle, it will happen.

Western countries will be hit hard by such an event, however it could prove very very damaging to countries like India and China. China more so as India is focusing more on research and 'back-office' work, so the effect would still be damaging but more so for China.

Very true. China would be devastated by such an event. Honestly, with all of their problems they've been having lately, they need to shift to something like India, and not relying on other countries with their current record.
