Welcome to New London International Airport, we will be arriving at gate 3 today.

A few facts about New London before we get to the gate. New London is currently a city with a population of just over 60,000. If you are here for pleasure, don't miss our Town Center District, Main Street District, Downtown on the river, and our brand new stadium, home of the New London Jazz. The best way to get around our beautiful city is our rapid transit system.

greekman: thanks for stopping by...hope you come back!

hawkeye9: thanks for the compliment and i too am excited about the SLB season!!! i cant wait!!!

specialeddie: yeah it does...eventually that area is slated to be high density residential and high density commercial so that will help. when zoomed out a little and from a different angle it looks a little better. check back as new london grows and see what you think. thanks for stopping by!

bat: thanks for the compliment. before that stadium was built, that was just a forest.

scmayor and natuurzoon: thanks for stopping by. the stadium was batted by teemu_om. it isnt o the STEX cuz it is too large but you can find the link to it in his north american stadiums thread.

Good job.  But I do have to agree with SpecialEddie...the stadium looks a bit out of place.  I hope it looks better once the high density grows.  4.gif

Brad-MacD: i hope it looks better too or i will have to level the parking garages and make a large flat parking area and more parks. i may level the parking area anyways.

Schulmanator: a football stadium that will be just as cool will be built too as soon as teemu_om finishes with it.

Shanna: thanks. this is my first cj so i need all the well wishes i can get. 4.gif

White_Stripes_200: thanks. it is a small bay off the gulf halfway in between galveston and corpus christi

Great start and good luck with the cj!

PS: That's a very nice stadium, although not fitting. Where did you find it?

tommiej: thanks for stopping by! check back sometime around monday for an update! (hopefully if life allows)

Voulpiotis: thanks for stopping by! the stadium is safeco field by teemu_om. the url is in one of my previous posts.

note...i have begun redeveloping the area around the stadium. it looked odd as many of you have said. that area was a brand new area. i have currently demolished the parking garages in favor of mass transit and park space and the low density residential and open field area has been rzoned high density commercial. i also demolished the old airport (of wich you will see pics later and replaced it with a custom airport.

thanks for the encouragement and patience everyone!!! and now the second update!!!

this is the Main Street District (also known as Old Town to the residents)

    centralpark.jpg

central park and the heart of main street.

    universitypark.jpg

university park. this is where much of the venues for the simlympic bid are concentrated. (more on those venues in a later update)

    downtown.jpg

this is the original downtown. New London is eventually going to be the downtown for the region so most of it looks like a downtown now.

these are all old pics. the city has grown alot since these were take. moe zoomed in shots of the areas with the new development will be in the next update as well as pics of the area surrounding the stadium.

the area where central park now lies used to be slums. the citizens voted to replace the area with a central park to boost land values. the light rail between the one way roads was added as the city grew to help reduce traffic on the main thoroughfare.

I'm just wondering how large is your population? This a really amazing city, I mean I could never really make one that large unless there was a mod that reduced all commute to zero. Going great though!
