You really are a stickler for details, Jason. I don't know how you could look at a building like that and see anything but perfection.

Blinking lights?  I didn't know you could do that in sc4.  Sounds like a good addon. 44.gif

There's an "effect" for it in the lot editor. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Looking good! The little blinking red light at the top would be a great touch face-icon-small-smile.gif

I forget what they are called, but there's different ones from the casino. These ones are specifically meant for the tops of antennaes and might have that in the name.

I'd love to do work for another update, but I have school stuff to do! heheh But I also have a job fair coming up, and for it I'm going to try and get an online version of my architecture portfolio ready, and if I do I'll post a link to it here so you guys can see what I do.

    Hi all!

Jason and I have made a little more progress on the Music Hall. Here's a preview:

    musichall1.jpg

We should have the front finished soon, and the sides and back should be relatively quick to model. What will take time are the awning over the entrance, the marquee and the neon sign on top.

Also, Maccabees is coming... soon... very soon...

I had exported it the other day, but it didn't look very good in the game, so I went through and retweaked the textures.  I wasn't so sure about the texturing before, but I think it's looking good now.

I've begun the nitelites, but I haven't been able to find any photos of the building at night, to see if there are any lights or anything like that.  I might just make something up.  I'll try to remember to re-export the day with lighting fixtures after I do the night.

Looking great. Although I liked the more gray version of the textures, something more saturated probably looks better in the long run. Only thing that catches my eye is the pink/red decorations, they just seem a bit too bright for my tastes (but definitely nothing to worry about).

You could have a lot of fun with lighting this one (some spotlights perhaps 3.gif ?)

Looks pretty much done. Looking forward to seeing the lights. I hope you guys are still planning a version without the tower since the tower makes it a once per city tile kind of building whereas I think it could be used a lot more frequently.

So after 4 long years of being absent from the BSP, I've decided to come back and restart a project I discontinued in 2005. I will [re]model the JL Hudson's Department Store that was demolished 10 years ago. I'm very far along on this model. About 75% of the entire lower massing is modeled so far. I will need to polish it up a bit more before I post updates. Expect to see the first progress shot later this coming week.

Okay I couldn't resist, here's my progress so far:

Does ST still enforce image size limits? I wasn't sure so I've linked it to my web space.

Also, I'm not sure how to install BAT for 3dsmax properly. I'm going to delegate this job to JasonCW since we both work in the same building, maybe he can come down a floor and install it on my computer.

    It looks wonderful! 36.gif

Unforunately I never had the chance to see Hudson's in person, or if I did I was too young to pay attention to it. It was demolished in 1998, when I think I was in 4th or 5th grade.

hahah, yeah, I can install it. Download the stuff from the BAT4Max V2.5 sticky.

Glad to see you posting! 1.gif

Hey, what a nice surprise to welcome you back here, Wolverine! That progress shot is quite mouth-watering... looks like you got everything right down to the point so far.

So you guys are really neighbours? 18.gif Man, that must be cool. So much BATting awesomeness in one building... 3.gif

On another, slightly off-topic note, I see that you couldn't resist to create a new avatar with colours that are once again perfectly matched to the new forum layout, Jason. Looking good. It's simple and unspectacular, but nonetheless it somehow looks "right". Nice job!

Whoa, that's looking fantastic wolverine! I really love that type of building, and its something we need desperately in SC4. Oh, and welcome back to the BSP (don't mind me, I'm just the new guy 3.gif )

I am a bit jealous of so much talent in such close proximity, everyone I know looks at a untextured cube in 3ds like its beautiful... *sigh* I should really finish the Frederick Douglass Projects,
