Oh man, that's beautiful Jason! I'm glad to see you working on it again. Hopefully you'll be able to find at least a little time over break to work on it. But I know how it goes. I, however, am *committed* to getting some projects done during break!

All this stuff looks great guys. I have always started to build Detroit and it looks like I can pretty soon. The hard part is Woodward and Grand River are important parts but the game doesnt let you build at those angles.

Hey everyone! Here's a late Christmas surprise!

Jason and I are working together on a new BSP project: the Detroit Music Hall. The Music Hall opened its doors in 1928 as the Wilson Theatre. Through the years it has been home to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Michigan Opera Theatre, and one of the nation's first Cinerama screens. Rehabilitation efforts began on the building in 1973 and in 1995 it reopened as the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts.

The facade was designed in the Art Deco style, with orange and tan bricks interspersed with mosaic tiles. Each bay of windows is separated by stone pillars atop which sit ornate terra cotta theatrical masks, and the roof line features a coral and green diamond motif. The interior of the theater is in a Spanish Renaissance style.

We don't have a whole lot to show for it just yet, but expect more updates soon! (The sad thing is, we actually modeled those lovely curly-cue terra cotta panels above the windows, but you can't tell!)

If you're interested, you can find some neat, historic photos of the theater here.

Wow, this thread had been quiet for a while but I'm sure glad to see it's alive and kicking. Needless to say, a lot of work needs to be done lol 3.gif. But it's looking great so far, keep it up!

Looking good. The top stonework is already looking pretty finely detailed. It looks like a building that was worth saving (nice to hear a clear success story from Detroit). I can't wait to see the Music Hall sign on top. I'm curious though, how are you and nofunk working on a building together? Did you divide it up or something? I'm just kind of curious as to how you guys are managing that as I couldn't see having two people modelling together being very efficient (I would go bonkers).

Ha ha ha!! Actually, Sam, we have been modeling it together. I keep him in check. I'm constantly like "OK, Jason, nobody will be able to see the 0.075 m extrude you just did... it's time to move on." 3.gif

So far we've worked on this together, but Jason will texture it, and I will mod and lot it. When we worked on the Eile, we sent the file back and forth and it actually worked out pretty well.

Glad you like it so far!

    It's true!!

Of course at the same time I can't bring myself to be that dedicated (is that the right word?) by myself.  If I could the Penobscot Building would have been done a few years ago, lol.

About the process, one of us will be at the computer modeling, and one of us will be at the desk helping to guide, make judgements, prepare things, etc.  It actually works out really well.

Not really, The BSP (or any other group) can't tell people which buildings to upload or mandate association with said group to upload parts of their area of focus (in this case Detroit). Nor can they really keep track of private projects of others (especially since they didn't have a thread). If folks make their own BATs they can make anything they want, that's the whole point after all 3.gif

BAT monopolies are not really possible because of that, but I think I have the market cornered for Pripiat blocks 9.gif
