Regardless, these morons obviously don't have much to do with their time if they are focusing on hacking simulation gaming sites.

There have been other sites totally unrelated to ST and Sporeum that have been hit in these attacks.  It's people taking advantage of a mass exploit.

Voar is right, they arent after simcity sites. Do a simple search of something like "cyberkatliam" and it'll turn up sites theyve hit

All their doing is defacing index pages, pretty weak IMO. Sometimes they trash an entire site or at least make everything redirect one page

Oh not again! *sigh* Similar to  what voar said, I think its the same people having 'fun' with an exploit they found in the Simtropolis forum software.

Newest stupid bleeping hack.

Last stupid bleeping hack.

See anything similar?

Anything I could do to help? This bleeping hacking is getting on my bleeping nerves.

Do something productive with your lives, hackers! Jeez. Stop playing around with a peaceful gaming community, its not funny anymore.

Lets hope Dirk can improvise and get Simtropolis as immune to hackers as it was before....

Without blowing his top off in the process....

There is something that everyone can do to help.  People hack things because they want to cause confusion and anger like what happens in this thread.  Effectively, what is happening is that they want us to get upset, which feeds their egos.  The don't want it to be funny, and they sure as heck won't leave if you tell them to because that shows them that they are getting on our nerves, which is exactly what they want.  When a hacker realizes that people aren't going to get bent out of shape about someone hacking the thing and can maintain their cool (even though we all know it sucks) they'll head for sites where people will continue to get bent out of shape about something they can't control.

Nice voar. Excellent  advice, that of which I will follow immediately.

It scares me though, they show a repeated ability to hack Simtropolis, what would happen if they just got tired of just defacing the site? I'm sure Dirk has a backup of most of it, but it still scares me.

From the looks of it, they are redirecting the main page traffic and not actually messing with the server.  While that shows that there is a level of control accessibility that needs to be patched, it doesn't mean that the server has been compromised.  When the site was hacked on Thanksgiving day of 2005, that was a hack where the site had to be locked down.  Given the name of the institution that keeps doing this, I'd imagine that they are there to make a name for themselves by messing with the surface of the site.

In case you guys haven't thought about this, what this is is a form of terrorism.  Wonder if anyone has reported this to info@phonebusters.com

Ha. The first thing I thought was, "No wonder they're not being accepted into the European Union."

I kid, I kid.

But still, I was surprised to see Simtropolis hacked by Turks. How odd.

tbh its no more surprising than anyone else, internet access is not limited to the west and asia, as much as that may seem to be the case

vey funny... it's quite obvious who's responsible for this , actually it's written in large red letters lol , its derek pearce aka heyden_simcity or something , he faked hi's death and a interviev with will wright some time ago , he also leads a site called simcity union. He appears to be incredibly desperate for attention , so desperate that that he hires a bunch of turkish hackers for cash .

@p?pmanis: why on earth did you bump a dead thread to post a conspiracy theory against another member? o.O

Before this starts up again, lets just close the thread while all is well and sound 2.gif
