CPT Terrain Mod - Trees

This is absolutely amazing! I'm having more fun creating nature than I usually have building cities...it really does make you feel like a god 1.gif

I have one problem though. I have everything installed properly and I'm using the generic controller, but I only get conifers. I get different conifers based on altitude and exposure, but even at sea level next to water I don't get anything else. I have the mud beach mod and one of the PEG rock mods installed; could either of these be the problem? Also, do these trees also spawn wildlife (or am I seeing things)?
 
Thanks again! The burned trees are especially inspired (makes me think of all sorts of storys for a city journal...without the city44.gif).

I forgot to mention that all the trees show up in the major menu and I have no problems plopping them. However, the entire set of trees is duplicated 9 times in the menu! I have the same problem now with a set of mayor trees I installed earlier. Perhaps there is a conflict between the two?

Indeed. I can only imagine that a mod that changes the mayor trees would run into conflict with a seperate mod that changes the mayor trees... IIRC we were supposed to delete every mayor/god tree mod if we wanted to use the full gamut of Cycledog trees.

Hmm, I have all three mayor mode tree mods (Jeroni's, Andrea's, and Cycledogg's), and I've never had any problem with them.

double check your plugins fold to be sure that there are not two instaces of the mod in there..some lots..if the name is slitly differnt (say MayormodetreesV2.dat and MayormodetreesV1.dat) both will show up...I may be off a little here...

    calm blue sea: make sure you have only one of the CPT tree controllers in your plugins folder.  (There shouldn't be a conflict with other mayor mode tree mods).

    othersider: I'm guessing it's a bandwidth issue.  It's not my site so I don't know the details.  Try again earlier in the day (Quebec? time), or at the beginning of next month.

    Just found this mod and it is absolutely awesome. I've been trying to get a decent pine tree/forest for ages and now I've got half a dozen! CycleDogg you are a legend. 44.gif

    The only problem I've got now is how to eradicate the tens of thousands of default oaks making up my forests so I can replace them with pines. Any shortcuts, or does my Dozer driver have to put in some extra-long hours?

    You can always use the erode all tool (or whatever the blowing wind dude is) if you haven't actually started building on that city yet, but if you have, unfortunately, it's bulldozer time...

    Hey, at least it's free to bulldoze just trees....

    Look on the bright side, you could have it worse, like I did: I have an ENORMOUS region which I had carefully terraformed and planted trees for. I build a bunch of cities, then the first Cycledog tree mod came out. I went in, spent FOREVER killing all the Maxis trees and planting Cycledog trees everywhere... To be honest, I went a little overboard, planting trees wherever the moisture was high enough to allow me to... Then he came out with a better (more varied) tree mod. I eventually resigned myself to my fate: I had to kill all the old Cycledog trees and replant trees over the entire region. Again. :P


    Thing is, it was worth it. :D

    I suppose you already know this, but you can bulldoze a huge rectangular area of trees at a time, by holding down the mouse button and dragging the bulldozer diagonally across the landscape.

    Also, for those who were having trouble downloading the terrain mod: the site should be working again.2.gif

    I kinda have a few questions about the terrain modd.

    1. Can I use the Snowcapped mountains modd?
    2. Can I use a rock modd?
    3. Can I use a water modd?
    4. Can I have other tree modds(like the seasonal trees)?
    5. Can I use other modds with it, like the NAM and sidewalk modds, and any other modd.

    1. You can use the snowcapped mod with the CPT tree mod, but not with the Columbus terrain mod.

    2. You can use one of peg's rock mods with the Columbus mod, if you don't install the Columbus beaches and cliffs file.
     
    3. You can use a water mod
     
    4. You can have any other mayor mode trees or tree props (such as seasonal trees) but not another god-mode tree mod.
     
    5. NAM is no prob.  Sidewalks no prob either.

    Cycledogg.... Have you given any thought to releasing your marvelous trees as props? I'm sure lots of folks (particularly those who use the trees for their terrain) would find uses for them. 1.gif

    When i am in region view, i cannot see any of the cycledoggs trees at all..its just all bare..can anyone help me ..lol

    If the trees aren't showing up in the farther zooms/region view, you probably need to change your display settings for higher city detail.

    I started making props of some of the trees a while ago.  Will probably finish up until sometime in the fall.

    I hope I'm doing this right. Hi everyone. This is my first post to an actual forum. I always despise my first post being a post asking for help, but in this case I can't help it. I could always blame it on cycledogg and mr. cinantit that I am a member of this site at all. You see while surfing the web I stumbled across mr cinantit's terraforming cj, and went OMG44.gif. After I composed myself to the stunning regions he was developing I noticed he was using these astounding trees that were created by cycledogg. I wanted them, so I signed up, downloaded the files I needed, and plopped them in. Unfortunately, they are not working, but I know they do. I searched the forums, double checked my work still nothing. I need a lil help42.gif so here I am. 
     
    I installed these files to the maxis/plugins folder:
    CPT_No7_TreeController_Generic_RequiresNo8andNo9
    CPT_No8_TreeModelsPartOne
    CPT_No9_TreeModelsPartTwo
     
    This is the first time I've used anything from the site so I didn't have to get rid of any other conflicting mods or the such.
     
    I started a new region called Test just to see if it worked. In god mode I get these really well made boxes 22.gif but no trees. In city mode in one of my developed regions it says I am missing photos for all of cycledogg's trees. The standard trees that come with the game are still there.
     
    Other info that may help is I am using just plain old SC4, no rush hour or deluxe for me. I do have the 2.0 (i believe) update installed. The route to the maxis folder is just Maxis\SimCity 4\Plugins not Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Plugins. I have the game installed on a different drive. I don't know if that's a problem, but sometimes syntax-wise it is.
     
    This is the point where I close my eyes, pray that I did this right, and hope someone can point me in the right direction.

    Sempi Warrior,

    Welcome to SimTropolis! You will need to go get Rush Hour/Deluxe in order to be able to use the trees. The trees were generated with the BAT Tool and plain SC4 doesn't know how to handle the BAT generated models.

    I would suggest getting Rush Hour/Deluxe because a lot of the custom content on this site requires Rush Hour to function properly. Deluxe is SimCity 4 bundled with Rush Hour.

    AARGGHH.

    I thought that might be the case. I was gonna pick it up the other day. I had some cash burning a hole in my pocket, so I was gonna get it to see if that solved it, but I was waylaid by my kids. Why do kids need shoes anyways? Thanks for the help.

    Hey there! I see you all just love cylcedoggs trees 1.gif So do I!!

    But there is one problem! I love them all!! 29.gif
     
     
    Is it possible in God-mode to chose between al those different trees?? To place for example once the Elm/Oak/Maple trees and the other time other trees. I would love that!
    I know that they all show up in the Major-mode, but i want them to show all up in the God-mode too!

    Nope I'm sorry but that isn't possible the only thinkg you could do is replace the .dat file again when you wish to have another tree type in god mode5.gif
