Excellent job, my friend! Can't wait to see more updates. Also, this is my first post, and I thought I'd wait for a great journal like this.

P.S. If we're still allowed to get houses or apartments, I'd like a job and an apartment in the King Building (I think that's the right name).

Okay.  Now I'm seriously back.  I'm not going to continue the  "Get your own house or job" thingy, because the city I had all the houses and stuff in was accidentally deleted...But you guys know I love you!!!  9.gif

    WELCOME BACK TO BORDEN!!!

    bordenrepliesyp7.jpg

jacqulina (x2) - Thank you as always for your ongoing motivation! 4.gif

natuurzoon - Sorry, man!  The house I made for you was pretty awesome...but it got deleted 15.gif You know that it would've been amazing though!  Thanks!

    sEAhAwk fAn121 - Thanks

Hawkeye9 - Thanks.  But I'm sorry, as I said above...I'm discontinuing the housing thing.   Sorry for the disappointment!!
Jersey_17011 - THANK YOU!!!  I was hoping someone would mention the urban to suburban transition!!  9.gif  I try and balance eye candy with the boring stuff 3.gif

ilikehotdogsalot - Thanks for the link and the nice comment!

    fledder200 - Thanks man...its a barn...LOL!  Joking, joking!  Although it does have the shape of one...*confused* 3.gif

    asturianu - Wiiiiii!  Thanks!!!

Mike the Mayor - Lol.  Thanks.

jcabassa - Thanks, I get that comment a lot 3.gif

Fischbob - Thanks!  Saint John is my favourite place other than Fredericton in NB!  Sorry about the disappointment (read above about the house thingy) But I think I will do this "imaginarily" because it seems like such a good house and job!  Okay.  You live in...2 Peir Place on the top floor with a downtown facing balcony and a lakeside window.  You work as...a CEO of Aliant in the Aliant Building!  Your office is at the very center of the curve on the top floor of the building. 3.gif

    J.A.M - Thanks!  Here's more! 3.gif

    sc4portugal - Thanks

lolebagels - Thank you!!  Love your username!

    Simfan34 - Thanks.  Sorry!

    Voulpiotis - Thank you!

Maxisman - You were allowed to still get houses...but its been canceled.  But Ill imagine that you have an apartment on the 9th floor of King Tower and an office on the 6th floor!

    1d3 - Thanks...(Oh not the annoyer!!  3.gif)

    Urban Renewal

Hi.  Welcome back to Borden.  This is Andrew by the way.  You've missed quite a lot of growth and events in Borden since the last update!  First, Borden amalgamated with Hanwell, an exurb town of Borden, rising Bordens population by an astonishing 33%!  Borden before the amalgamation was 90 000 people.  Now its 120 000!  This also means that Downtown Borden counts as Hanwells commercial district AND Hanwells miniature commerical strip counts as Borden commercial property.  This also means Bordens skyline is getting a makeover.  Skyscraper enthusiasts are pumped!  There are a lot of parts of Borden are run down.  This is what happened when they demolished all the beautiful architecture from the 1800's in the 70's.  Grr...Heres one part that I particularily hate...not because the run-downness, but then road layout.  Its nicknamed the Shadowtown because its shadowed at how nice it used to be and at sunrise, the Hospitals shadow completely covers it.  I dont think theyll be fixing the roads any time soon though.

    update151gy3.jpg

Theyre planning on demolishing all the ugly old things and putting new office buildings in.  Im so excited!  That area was so nice when I was a kid...

Heres another area of town thats pretty disappointing to tourists.  City Hall Drive South.  Its a bunch of parking lots and ugly rundown abandoned buildings.  Its a shame to see the historic parts of Borden go to waste.  Im pretty sure parks are getting built here.

    update152bp8.jpg

Also, the ugly Borden Register Transmitter Tower is finally gone!

    update153yf4.jpg

Also, the Regent Arms are being demolished.  City Council battled with the public for this one for a while.  They decided it wasn't five-star downtown material.

    update156fx6.jpg

Now, second.  Most of these places are gone if you're just reading this now.  Heres the shadowtown.  You can see most of the buildings are gone except for that hideous blue one...Ones being demolished in this view too.  The blue one says demolition on it...theres a clue 3.gif  I wonder whats gonna be built on the big construction site!

    update155wu8.jpg

The City Hall Drive situation is still there, but the former Borden Register TV Tower site is an apartment with new trees and sidewalks.  Those propane taks will be moved when the owners get a permit...

    update15%234.jpg

And the Regent Arms is gone and has been replaced by a construction site of something called Place 1000...

    update15%237.jpg

Hmm.  Thats a really nice view of the Northern Trust Bank!  Same with Carleton Place (the building to the very left with the yellow lights across the street from the contstruction site)

Oh...I cant wait for these projects to be done...Borden will be a whole new place...Its already gained the title "The Major City of Shetland Island"!

natuurzoon - Thank you!  Hopefully the final result will be as pleasing as Martin Plaza was.  And I love it when people point out tiny tiny little details I shove in.  Lets me know someones enjoying the pictures!  4.gif  Also, Regent Arms also had a large "DEMOLITION" sign on the billboard.
