I thought Id show you guys a newspaper article this time around about whats going on in the city right now.

SIMPLYMPIC BID PARTY AT THE OLYMPUS CITY SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT

Olympus City, Olympus (Olympus City Press O.C.P.)

The time is finally here, at the eve of the Simplymics Bid winner announcement, Olympus City has taken a day off and has thrown a party for the anticipation of the announcement of who won the Simlympic Bid. President Prometheus has declared today "Simlympic Bid Day" and announced that the party will go on throughout the weekend. Event planners had spent most of last night preparing the illustrious event preparing for this weekend and if you are planning to drive, I wouldnt do that if I were you. Roads leading into the Event area will be closed most of the weekend so it is strongly urged to take the O-Rail or the Olympus City subways, Fares will be half off for the weekend encouraging Olympians to take mass transit.

Every Olympus City Sports Facility will be having 2 giant TV's setup for spectators to watch the announcement and also around the Venues there will be 4 areas where spectators can watch as well. As for the sports facility event it is a first come first server basis and the first 200,000 people get to get in the stadiums. Olympians and visitors alike have been camping at the District for over 3 weeks as the time draws near. There is an expect 500,000 plus spectators expected to attend the event for it is the first time in Olympus City History that Olympus City has made a bid for the Simlympics. There are planned events all weekend including an "Olympus City After Dark" Party which is 21 and over. and a Olympus City Kids Playground which will be in the amusement park. Admission to the park will be half price and free to kids 10 and under.  There will be plenty of food and beverages and also merchandise sold at the event as well. This also is the first time in history that a party of this scale has ever been planned in Olympus City. All URSC and MoS members and citizens are invited to attend as well.

Olympus City runner up in the Simlympics Bid

Olympus City, Olympus (Olympus City Press O.C.P.) In front of a crowd of an estimated 800,000, the annoucement for the March 2007 was announced. The crowd was silent for a moment but then applauded in good manner to give merit to the city of Avery who was chosen. After the announcement was made that Avery was chosen, the crowd was silent as the runner up was announced. To the ears of many as to discover that Olympus City was runner up, the crowd went estatic that for all that they had done to rebuild this once great city was highly considered to be a great bid. Although the city was runner up, the people of Olympus City was filled with pride. Shortly thereafter, President Prometheus had announced that he had called the Mayor of Avery to congratulate them and bid the best of luck and told the city to not be saddened for it was a very close bid and that they should celebrate instead. After he gave the speech the big party began and will last throughout the weekend.

My thoughts about getting runner up, I am impressed that I even got runner up since this is my first CJ and my first bid compared to the other CJ's that had competed that are older than mine. Although I am not trying to brag, but Im glad that my CJ Simlympic bid was a bid to be reckoned with. hehehehe it was fun and i hope to bid again for the june simlympics. i bid farewell and i hope you guys still stop by to see what this CJ is up to. thanks

football_fever: it was noted on a past update

by the way guys Olympus City has an announcement.

BREAKING NEWS:   Olympus City: On the rise...

Olympus City, Olympus (Olympus City Press O.C.P)  During the Simlympic parties that are going on all weekend the President appeared on the giant TV screens scattered all over the Entertainment grounds. This is what he announced that had shocked the city.

"My fellow Olympians and visitors alike. Today we celebrate the pride in this city for being runner up but today as well we will celebrate the future of Olympus City. As of today, the lands south of Olympus City has been annexed as part of  Olympis City. This will mean further city expansion and a full revitalization of the existing city integrating with the new annexed area. This will be a long range plan and will take more than 50 years to accomplish. Although many of you may not see it during your lifetime, be proud that your children and their children will see it blossom during their lifetime and can benefit from this great achievement. This also in time will double the city population to levels we have not seen since the pre War of the Republics days where our population reached up to 1.4 million Olympians. Well I can say that we will once reach that population and be a spectacular city to see. Also reports are coming in from the exploratory committee that they may have discovered high grade oil west of the annexed area. If this holds true will cause a rapid growth in the annexed area and a further economic boom in the whole region itself. The future of Olympus City starts today"

After the Presidents announcement the crowd was dead silent and then a big uproar of applause and cheer followed. In a report coming, the master plan for the Olympus City Revitalization and Expansion Plan calls for an expanded manmade bay and also a brand new fishing area which will be 50 times the size it is now across the bay. In addition a brand new seaport area will be added across the bay as well as a new massive Naval Base. Also included is the revitalization of the industrial sectors outside the city. This will be the greatest feat in history once plans become underway.

Haha! The Simlympics bring back some memories when I was a finalist in it! I focused on my sports centres too like you have done, and it's really looking great!! Do you plan on expanding suburbs from your city? I think that would make a great touch.

    Nice work! 9.gif

ok guys the CJ must go on. its been a very busy two weeks for me with RL stuff but i was able to manage to do an update and let you guys know whats going on at Olympus City.

OLYMPUS CITY WEEKLONG HEAVY RAINS LEADS TO RESEVOIR COLLAPSE!

Olympus City, Olympus. ( Olympus City Press O.C.P. ) After a weeklong of heavy rains and storms, Olympus City was partially washed out to the bay. The Mount Olympus Resevoir, which resides on Government Hill, gave way to flooding waters causing massive flooding in the central part of the city leaving behind a wide canal in the main center of the city. Heavy damage was reported with the city torn in half. Approximately 200,000 Olympians were washed out into the bay reported to be missing or dead. rescue and cleanup efforts are now to be reported to take years. With the opening of the new Olympus City C.B.D. weeks away, the Olympus City Republican Government are now planning to move all the Olympians to the newer part of the city which is the C.B.D. The new part of the city can occupy roughly 400,000 people. The C.B.D. Project was to double the City size and population. Now that Olympus City is severed in half, The C.B.D. is more likely going to be the new Olympus City for the damage is too significant that the damaged buildings still up would cause a safety issue. The soil is so weak that even the ground can't the full weight of a human. More news to follow once it comes in.
