YAY! Update Number 1!

Part 1: Exploring Ashford County

This is Ashford County,  a newly discovered  part  of SimCity! Immidieatly after it's dicovery, Mayor Fricks sent out a survey team to look for possible community locations. Here are some aireal shots of the land they saw and the names given to the land's features.

Also, if anyone wants the region, without the trees of course, just post and I'll put it on the STEX.

Now, where do you all think I should start to build? Northwest, northeast, southwest or southeast?

By the Leeden River. I think you can make a great looking city on the water with a nice island in the middle of the river. But thats what I would do.

Schulmanator: Thanks for being my first comment! It was your CJ that made me decide to start my own.

Jacqulina: Thanks for stopping by and I hope you do stick around. it may be my first, but I have some nice stuff in mind. Leeden River seems to be the majority.

Tommy_Vercetti3: I like the Leeden River a lot too. I'll see where would be a nice spot.

City2TheMax: There's another nice area. it's starting to get hard to choose, I'll try to start a poll.

ManMan99: I'm glad you like it. Took me around 10 hours for terraforming and another 3 for trees and fauna.

Waldner: That was where I thought I should start, but it looks like I'm beeing overruled.48.gif

Thank you all for veiwing and stick around for the net update, The First Settlements Which should be out next week on Saturday, or before.

Thank you for your kind reply! I am honored to have been an inspiration for you. I hope you have as much fun with your CJ as I do mine. I will be back to check up on your progress as the CJ unfolds!

I may have to go with Sepia Valley, for the "__" communities that are going to develop there. (Who can guess what "__" is?)

That's a pretty good map you have there. It's kind of too bad that you didn't have better screenshots for it though on your upload page. After I've seen these images, I am dutifully impressed. Maybe you could set up a link from the upload page to direct some traffic here!

Also, it looks like a challenge to build on, so this will definitely be a test of your skill.

Yeah, my pics suck, I know. But I was tired and didn't have the patience. I'll most likely upload a V.2 with the rendered shots!

    By the Way:

I'm sure by now you have already started development in Ashford County, but I thought I'd put in my two cents.  I always like to start cities where they might have started had they needed to take into acount things like defense, access to water for health and transportation, etc.  It seems to me that the ideal spot with this in mind would be on the east end of the map on the raised/rocky portion of land sticking out from the Durango Range along the Ashford River and south of Blue Lake.  It would be surrounded on all sides by water and guarded in the back by mountains; the ports would be west of there where there seems to be a natural bay at the foot of the mountains.  Even if you dont build there first, I love this map, and I'm glad its on the STEX.  Looking forward to more!

OK, I'm back! Sorry for no update for a while. I got big-o sick after thanksgiving. The hospital didn't have any web access either. Well, now I'm better and between exams and everything I'll be working double-time!

My apologies for leaving this project unattended to for so long... I must unfortunately go into my personal life to explain the events that lead to it's premature abandonment. Six days after the Thanksgiving of the year 2006, my mother died in a fatal car accident due to a drunk-driver. The loss hit my family and I extremely hard. My mother was closer to me than even my best friends and I did not take her untimely passing very well. Several moths later, I sent into a lengthy depression from which I am just starting to recover. Amongst my depression and the lawsuits which are still pending due to the driver and his lawyer's pleading insanity, I've understandably had a lot on my hands lately. I've needed to fill my mother's role in the household as the caretaker for my two sisters. My father has also set into a depression as I have and nothing has been going very well lately in means of his "treatment". You may wonder why I placed that in quotes, well it's not heartless, it's just that I haven't had any faith in the people who call themselves counselors or psychiatrists. Those that I have seen haven't helped and are sure not helping my father at all, so it has taken me time to recover primarily by myself. I apologize to anyone who has been expecting anything in the means of updates. I'll redouble my efforts in perhaps a few months and I'll start-over from scratch. Same region, just different decoration and new graphics. I thank anyone who liked what I did manage to accomplish in the time which I was working on it, and I also thank you all for understanding why the updates haven't been coming in as promised.

Thank you for your understanding and thank you for making Simtropolis such a wonderful community. I hope I will be able to continue this CJ and I hope it will develop into what I had originally envisioned it to be.

Oh my goodness, how simply awful, me deepest and heartfelt condolences. I can only imagine what losing a mother would be like and that thought to be honest I don't know what I would do, the thought is too painful to imagine fully.

I feel for you and don't even worry about CJ update, RL will always have priority over a game/hobby.

Again my condolences and I wish you all the very best.
