IDS2 haha, Nemonos Marshmellow emporium eh. How'd you swing that?

joshiejack Lol, yea, you don't want to be doing that. Even though utilities are included its probably not the best idea! Your downstairs neighbours might not be too impressed. 2.gif

pipishere Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. You know you can delete your posts?

    IDS2 Haha, thanks.

jackie Thank you very much. More to come... eventually...

joshiejack Yayyy, a new fan! 4.gif Thanks alot!

Giligone haha, yes, thats annoying- wait... thats me, 43.gif

IDS2 hhaha This marshmellow emporium sounds like a wonderful place. I'm going to have to build it in my city now!

Simfan34 lol, not right now. The real-estate update is closed for now. Stay tuned for the next one in a couple weeks!

yarabundi Thanks, and welcome! Hope to see you posting here again!

Ooook, some great feedback there. I've been working a good deal on improving the downtown core as of late. So likely the next update will be on that. I know you are all excited about that so stay tuned!

    scfl_game_block.jpg

Ok, so the SCFL season started today! Very exciting.

    Kickoff2007logo.jpg

The Highlanders came out to a good start against the Alamosa Avengers in Alamosa.

    logo.jpg   @ losangelesavengers2kze2.gif

Unfortunately, the Avengers managed to walk away with the victory in this hard fought game.

    1-0 Alamosa 35 vs. 0-1 Nemonos 18

A side note, of all the teams that lost, the Highlanders had the highest score. So I guess thats some consolation.

Next game is Monday vs. the Huskies of Athalon

Dang, hard loss man... "There's always next week" is something that we've learned to say a lot here in Buffalo... Haha, I just can't wait for the STHL to start up!

    Dear City Council of
    Nemonos

We have heard form our city council president, GreekMan that he bought a property in downtown Nemonos. We congradulated him. He told the city council of Chula Vista that he wants to propose a building on the current site if possible. He said that it would stregthen the friendship of both cities. Mayor Murphy also agreed with the council president. For the plan we would like the HSBC bank building to built there. It is 3x4 which is perfect. Any avalible land on the current gound we would like parks to fill it up. Well he hope that the mayor and the city council will approve the new building. Thank you so much for an exelent oppertunity.

                                                        Sinceraly,
                                                                   Chula Vista City Council
                                                                             and Mayor Murphy

    Current view of the property.

Oooo, new feedback banner. haha. **hint hint**

GreekMan haha, yes. I also can't wait! And you won't have to wait long, mmm say right now?!

Shanna Thanks, more to come, right now 9.gif

IDS2 haha, yes. You'll get cavities though! Good thing Nemonos has excellent dentists. Some of the best in the world I've heard.4.gif

    joshiejack well, here it is!

    Voulpiotis Thanks!

pipishere I don't think you are the only one either! most people don't delete their accidental double posts... for shame.

IDS2 lol. Stick a vitamin in it, you'll be set. 17.gif

AfroThunda Yea, they'll be set for monday. First home game! I'm sure all of you with seasons tickets will be there! Yes... when will it start I wonder...

IDS2... again9.gif lol, no worries. Next week, next week!

GreekMan Wow, great proposal! Very formal. Since the building is a perfect fit I see no problems as to why this can't be started immediately! 9.gif

asturianu haha, yes, it is. It will look great in the Financial district i think.

ccecill Hmm, not sure. Maybe in floors but the new NBIC building has a tall spire so... Yes.. next week we will win!

jackie haha, yep. Great for the downtown

AfroThunda I think so too. 4.gif

IDS2 whats that supposed to mean?47.gif

Ok, wow. Soooo much feedback! Thats definately the most I've ever had to do. But good stuff. UPDATE TIME!!!

    14_title_block.jpg

Haha! Finally time for the update. Once again, notice the new background on the banner. I figured since my downtown looked very different now than when I made the first banner (in October!) it was time for a new one.

Lets get things started with a lovely overview shot of the current downtown.

    overview.jpg

As you can see there have been lots of big developments! First up is the new NBIC (Nemonos Banking and Insurance Corporation) world headquarters.

    top_3.jpg

    middle_3.jpg

    bottom_3.jpg

**drools**  How I do love that building, hehe. Towering over the city this 42 story glass clad reinforced concrete tower is the tallest building in the whole region (thanks to its spire). NBIC recently gobbled up several large international banking and insurance companies and so it was time to set up a new head office. What better spot than the Nemonos financial district?

Next up, you'll all have noticed there is now shoreline reinforcing all around the downtown. Well, it turns out that the city's engineers didn't do the math right when they allowed the JOC tower to go up. As a result there was thread of erosion and collapse of the shoreline embankment. Obviously that couldn't happen and so a large project was set about to not only reinforce the shoreline but also to beautify it.

    shoreline_project.jpg

In this shot we see the first phase of landfilling going on. This was done to extend the shore to make room for an esplanade and a seawall.

    top_1.jpg

    middle_1a.jpg

    middle_1b.jpg

    bottom_1.jpg

This close up mosaic shows more detail on the area.

Now for a mosaic of the finished product.

    top_2.jpg

    middle_2a.jpg

    middle_2b.jpg

    middle_2c.jpg

    bottom_2.jpg

As you can see this new land allowed the construction of several new buildings along the shore as well.

    central_station.jpg

First up is the new Nemonos Central Terminal. This columned building is the central station of the Nemonos subway system (yep, Nemonos has a subway now, more info on this in a future update) and the regional bus system. Due to land constraints the surface rail system terminates at a station a few blocks West (see behind hospital).

    hospital.jpg

The intensification of the downtown also meant that there were too many people for the current hospital (Nemonos General: joshiejack's work). Thus a brand new state of the art health care facility was constructed right along the shore.

Now to address the newest project in the downtown, GreekMan's re-development of his land into an HSBC tower. As you know HSBC is the region's largest financial institution. They currently occupy the majority of the Nemonos Financial Building (tall red-glass building). Recent population expansions have meant they need more office space and so they are going to build a second tower right across the street from their current location.

    Here's the site now.

    new_hsbc_tower1.jpg

Now, that building has to go! So, they contracted a demolition company to take it down. It was later learned the company was from Siberia... uh oh. 11.gif

    boom2.jpg

Haha, so needless to say the building was totally obliterated. Once the rubble (rubble? more like dust) was cleared the lot was ready for construction.

    cleared_lot.jpg

Of course there's some paperwork that needs to be done before ground can be broken but that won't take too long.

While all this was going on landowners of the adjacent lots got wind (how could they miss?? haha) of the new project. This resulted in a spike in land value and some new construction projects.

    new_construction.jpg

No-one really wanted that old ugly tenement anymore anyway so these blew through the application process like a hot knife through butter.

Here's how it looks now, construction on the HSBC tower will begin very soon. Stay tuned for that!

    new_construction2.jpg

Oook! wow, big changes in the downtown!! These are exciting times in Nemonos, now with over 450 000 people regionally (190 000+ in Nemonos proper). Stay tuned for more downtown updates!
