Time to get back on the track! 3.gif

Nice ads a few pages back, it's always good to see local businesses flourishing like they appear to be in New Atkinos. And to think, I used to wonder why there were always so many blue towels on the beach! Great cards, too. They remind me of the trading cards I collect off and on. They sure will not go in my bike spokes!

Explodingsims Yesssss! Initiating the 30K parade of trading cards!

    Joetropian1 Updates? Them's a-comin'!

Leech10 I think the Voldebug does indeed drive a VW!

    bbfan02 lol!

    Abcvs Grates? That's no gouda!

    anarchy0029 lol! I feel your pain :-P

    Shanna Thanks, Shanna!

Smarty218 The Voldebug will be defeated by Harry Poster!

Jill Jacobs Thanks! I do have about 1.5 GB of plug ins right now. I am glad you like the cats and enjoy Schulmania. Welcome, and please do come back again.

Leech10 And of course his creditors...

Smarty218 You must live somewhere between Georgehampton and Schulmericho then! Awesome!

    Abcvs The volcano is inflatable?

Leech10 Indeed! I need to make an ad for it!

    Abcvs The Admiral strikes again?!

Cuahtemoc Actually, the Supreme Wirdle prefers to be served by her minions. The Admiral, on the other hand, would gladly take off the door of the fridge to claim her prize!

bbfan02 These are FAR cooler than Yugioh!

Leech10 Any more gold cubes? I have bills to pay.

    Giligone Gotta catch 'em all!

anarchy0029 Thanks! A free set of cards will be sent to you, in a custom frame. Compliments of the publisher.

Jacqulina Thanks, J! Glad you like them.

    Smarty218 Chocolates work too!

NMUSpidey In the special features index (in the sig) you can see the rest of the coins too.

KingTitan Catnip filled coins? Sounds intriguing... but perhaps not conducive to savings accounts.

gabry85 Excellent! And you get a 25% mayor's discount too!

Csgcseri Thanks! Have you seen them all? There's a link in the special features index.

Joetropian1 Have you got your SchulMasterCard? You can charge it!

    DioAngel lol!

NMUSpidey This is way way WAAAAAAAAAAAY cooler than Pokemon! The Supreme Wirdle could take out Pikachu in like 2 seconds flat.

ky72x lol! Yes, these are too valuable for bicycle spokes!

Aah, the cards must be going up in value. Perhaps a museum could be dedicated to them?

I think 21 tons of gold should last for awhile... If you can get it out of the crater it made. Maybe it should have been a sphere...

And I don't have any more gold... I think Vala took it.

It usually isn't this quiet in here... Cat got your tongue? 3.gif

    New Atkinos: Wide Open

Most Schulminion towns are rather compact. Cats don’t seem to like open spaces as much as they do the more closed spaces. This town was developed by humanoid Schulminions in consultation with the feline-run City Planning Office. Things are bound to be different. One difference is the wide plaza which bisects the town. Even Gran Maru, with its wide central avenue, does not have as much open space in the town center as does New Atkinos. Perhaps the humanoids enjoy the openness a bit more. And, as the center (and only city) of the Commonwealth of New Atkinos, this town is run a bit differently as well. An elected town council represents the community, which, in turn, sends representatives to Wirt to report directly to the Supreme Wirdle. Let’s examine this expansive plaza and the New Atkinos Community House.

    plaza1.jpg

The western end of the plaza is anchored by the airy Bureau of Feline Affairs office. Both sides of the plaza are lined with palm trees and lush plantings. Memorial Fountain, a tribute to the shipwreck victims, sits in front of the BFA office.

Despite having a humanoid community council, feline activities continue to be handled by the BFA. Commissioner Ossie Ellis was sent out from headquarters in Temple Terrace to serve as the lead administrative cat. He is hoping New Atkinos will be purr-fect for him.

    plaza4.jpg

The BFA office is near the beach and close to the observation tower along the beach. The tower doubles as a tourist trap and as a lighthouse. The prominent spot has been claimed by several landmark structures, including the tower, BFA, luxury apartments, and a great snack bar (serves humanoid and feline delicacies).

On the other side of Memorial Fountain are statues commemorating great events in the town’s history. Yes, the town was just founded. But, settlement began long before with the original shipwreck survivors. Two monuments were erected near the memorial to commemorate these events.

    plaza7.jpg

At left is the Commonwealth Column, erected to commemorate the establishment of the Commonwealth of New Atkinos, which covers the entire island. At right is a statue of the man whose ingenuity saved the shipwrecked survivors and led them to safety on the island, Professor John Frink.

Just east of the monuments is the main religious structure in town, Church of the Salvation. The church was erected by the survivors with matching funds from the Supreme Wirdle and the Bureau of Feline Affairs as a show of gratitude for the salvation and recovery of the survivors. It closely resembles the landmark church in Atkiniros, whose style has influenced buildings across the south of Schulmania.

    plaza5.jpg

    plaza2.jpg

Also nearby is the corner church (above left), the Gilligan Chapel.

    plaza9.jpg

Behind the church is a gazebo, often used as a shady gathering spot on warm, sunny days. Fronting the block is the castle-like campus of Commonwealth College, the higher learning center of the island.

Another meandering square sits behind the church. Known as Town Square, it sits between the church and the Community House, the center of government for the commonwealth. It serves as a gathering place for formal proclamations and events as well as a welcome bit of green in the paved plaza area.

    plaza3.jpg

    plaza8.jpg

Wide steps from the fountain lead down to the Town Square. They echo the wide steps of the Community House, which fronts the Town Square on the other side. It allows the short folks to get a good view of events.

Anchoring the east end of the central plaza is the New Atkinos Community House, the seat of government for the Commonwealth of New Atkinos. It is the first governmental building in Schulmania for a humanoid led local government. Humanoids make up about 40% of the population of the nation (77% in New Atkinos) but have generally shied away from leadership roles. Most are content to serve as laps, servants and petters. We’ll see if the humanoids have leadership skills. The Supreme Wirdle hopes so.

    plaza10.jpg

The Community House is an inspirational building built in a southern adaptation of the formal Temple Style used on Schulmanicus.

    commhse2.jpg

The massive structure anchoring the eastern end of town is a unique adaptation of an ancient style for a new setting.

    commhse1.jpg

Nestled against the base of the big mountain, the Community House provides space for all government functions and a spacious office at the center portico for the Emissary of the Supreme Wirdle, who serves as her representative on New Atkinos for day-to-day affairs.
