Well in my adventures in rock modding, i thought about a volcanic rock mod so here is a test pic...IMO i think its too repetitive so I will try to work with the texture and see what i can do, this is zoom 3,

actually it just looks funny on large cliffs and in the pic i have that cliff fix so i can build sunken highways nicely volcanictest.jpg

here is another one but it may be a little 2 light

Hmmm...  The second one might work out well with a snowy terrain, but not so much on a grassy one.  The first may be repetitive, but it is attractive.  I'd go with that one if I were to choose.

*Edit:  Ah, I misunderstood.  You're making these.  3.gif  Not deciding with one to use...  3.gif  I do agree with your assertion that the second is a bit too light, but I still think it would look good with a snow mod.  As for the first, well the picture is on a gently rolling terrain.  I'd kind of like to see what it looks like on a sheer wall before I make a final critique on it.

*Edit 2:  And I saw the marble on the previous page for the first time.  I like that!  colorful!

well actually i am deciding which one to use lol 3.gif im just kinda testing the pics to get a feel for what people like...the first is a little repetitive on a flat wall but i could get a pic and see and yes i agree the second is 2 light i will have to see what i can do about that...also glad you like the marble!! thank you!

Whoa, rock mods!  Brilliant, there's not enough good ones.

The first one, IMHO, has sort of a "fish scale" appearance that's created by the unfortunately unavoidable repetitive pattern issue.  If you could insert something to break that up a bit, it might help.  Otherwise, I like the colors and the "rocky" (well, I guess it is supposed to be a rock mod, after all) look.

I think the second one is really good.  There are areas in the US west around Yellowstone Park [ linkie ] where areas of the ground look just like that due to geyser and other volcanic activity.  I've got some pics here somewhere- I'll look around for them.

I don't comment on your CJ enough, ccsc12.  If you find yourself tripping over something more often lately, though, that's probably me lurking.

I'll be watching for what's next.

    David

p.s.:  How do you create a rock mod?  Tutorial time?

Hey, crazy, the cliffs are looking very good. So, highways through the mountains? It's going to be a bit difficult.

Hey CC. Your residential area is really comming along nicely. The sunken highway is a lovely touch. There are alot of different angles and curves to the roads which give it a very creative appeal.. I also like your rock mods. I would try to perhaps combine two or three textures into one (I use photoshop for that) to give it more variety. See if that works.. I like the volcanic one the best. Great job in all my friend..

    Hi CC,

Well, this is suburbia at it's best! Everytime I look at those suburbs it makes me dizzy! 46.gif

The repetitive use of diagonals makes it very lifelike!

    Good one!

    See you!

I will reply to your comments personally at the next update 4.gif
