What you HATE about SC4...

I hate a few things. Mostly the apparent lack of features.

- No surface water

- Lack of water producing buildings

- Lack of garbage disposal buildings

- Seemingly useless rewards (why can't the Courthouse actually help reduce crime?)

- Lack of ordinances that make money (SC3KU had things like "Industrial Pollutant Impact Fee" and "Parking Fines", why aren't there more for SC4?)

The thing that I HATE the most is that EA company scammed me. How? When I first played Simcity 4 for 5 months, I found out that the techncial support program that came with the game was not responding and because of that, I can't fix the unexpected game crashes, slow saving time, lock ups and etc. Also, they didn't spot some game bugs, that really bugged me and forced me to delete ten of my cities, even though they tested the game. They probaly  just  ignore their customers, got their ideas from game designer that have a very closed mind and very uncreative,  after  they made the game, they didn't tested the game and they released  the game into  the market.  I do suspect that the next game they put into the market, they won't have as much customers as they used to. I remembered that in the past, I person I  knew, conacted the techncial  support  because the game crashes every time he saves and after giving some info about his computer, the techncail support person said," you  aren't suppose to  use Window  Vista, reformat the computer  and install a different  type of Window,  this problem can be fixed by yourself and go reread the game manual" after that, the techncial support person  hung up. I guess EA company cares about their money and profits, not their customers.

I HATE.... the default airports!!!! And not to mention those train stations...

The thing that ticked me off about Rush Hour is that the "Euro" tileset was just an American tileset, not an actual European one with old buildings and stuff! 26.gif At least SC:S has European buildings!

Okay I'm done ranting. 3.gif

i dont like the limits of the exe:

Only 2 transit networks on one tile

No new transit networks

No new menus

No new expansion packs

EDIT: And the grid

This would have given the modders much more free hands to make the most fantastic modds.

And if you ask me half of The Stex and Lex Should have been in the game from the beginning.

I hate the.....

Fact that it crashes on newer computers, mostly because the cities are so big, when I didnt save.

Horrible zoning on diagonal roads, the horrible rich people that build mansions that take up entire city blocks that ruin your zones,so no one else will ever be able to build there unless you rezone.

I dont like the unrealistic civic buildings that look nothing like police stations, schools, etc. that I've seen. Buildings that dont mix in with the surrondings, for example a tiny suburban house in between 2 big skyscrapers.

if Maxis was never bought by EA, and was by itself, i think it would have gone outta buisness. But, i wish EA would have left them completly alone like they do with Valve: they just publish Valve's games (Valve has Steam too, so EA doesnt have a big part) and box them. I think they should have done that.....

Maxis's problem is EA, and now they arent even maxis even more... they have been completly aSIMulated into EA. EA only cares about The Sims, and they just make them produce "Factory" games, games with no soul, just made to make money. I wish Maxis wasn't bought by EA, but by Valve! (or activision)

Thats not much! I love this game, but there could have been some minor improvments. Like EA releasing the sourse codes so the modders could go banana! Without ST it would have been really sad.....

I love SC4 and it's surely better than the 3000 but there are a lot of drawbacks if we consider the game as a simulator:

-First: The overall unrealistic feeling you get while using Maxis default buildings. I don't know if it's the repetition or the weird colors/reflexion but the overall feeling is poor. All the cities look the same.

-Second: You can't chose where and when your city is built. Indeed, you can't choose if your city is in North America, Africa or Europe, which of course would imply different city developpement. Moreover you can't choose the main function or type of your city: Downtown, Suburb, Industrial Area, Rural Town... And you are given no information about the year of the gameplay.

-Third: Lazy sims living in the suburbs won't go to work Downtown, which is a neighboor city, so that new 4-lane freeway remains empty.

-Fourth: You can't control (well i can) what houses/shops appear in your city. So you get really weird results: A $$$ Mansion (which eventually gets dilapided, dunno why) next to low-wealth bungalows.

Of course, you can come to really good looking cities with SC4 but only with custom stuff and the buildingplop tool.

All in all, if considering SC4 (even with rush hour) without Simtropolis forum + downloads, i would have stopped playing years ago.

EA company failed to upgrade their games to the newer computers. That gives old computers a advandage over the newer computers

only main thing that ticks me off is how vacant the freeways are. Even with the NAM and RH mods i still feel like my highways and rural highways are just abandonned and I even have 1.5 million people in my region and everything set to "radical" in the nam.

I guess what really pisses me off is how LITTLE the neighbor cities actually react to each other. It seems impossible to create one main city area (mostly large commercial buildings/skyscrapers/headquarters etc)  and then have the surrounding neighbors then commute to the main city without the entire city just refusing to make the commute, which would relate to about 10 minutes in reality. A commute anyone in real life would dream for.

Actually, you can choose the main function/type of city. You simply need to manipulate the types of zones so that only appropriate buildings can be constructed. This is somewhat like the "skyscraper jungle" issue. The zone system is a great thing, but it's impossible to get specialized, realistic cities unless you regulate the zones. For my suburbs, I sometimes go as far as zoning each lot individually.

My main complaint is that city limits are tiny. The game's so-called large city has a smaller land area than a city near my home with a population of less than 10,000. I have to build across 9 tiles just to get a moderately sized city.

I guess my major beef lately has been the locality of things such as Airports and Seaports.  Generally speaking these things in real live are regional items, but not in SC4.  If there ever is a successor game, I would like to have a regional government with Regional Police, Fire, and major transportation services.

This would mean a new operating layer for the regional government.  Of course it would be funded by a levy on the cities, so it couldn't exist before some city success was available.

Buildings getting abandoned - I know in some way its realistic but I hate it especially when lots of buildings suddenly get adbadoned just because you accidentally removed a power line and didn't put it back in time.

I read this post then played my game.

What I hate, when you have a 2 roads parallel with a rail road track in the middle.  There is a small cross road over the tracks connecting the 2 parallel roads.  You want to build another small cross road farther down the line.  Instead the game adds cross roads the entire length of the parallel for you.  And then I have to bulldoze the rail and re build it.26.gif

-A police helicopter is always hovering over my airport, shining its beam, because its such a "seedy" area--even when I put a police station next door to take a bite out of crime. That heliocopter noise won't quit!!

-Diagonal roads are a nightmare--especially when it comes to zoning.

-Seriously--and this goes for SC3000 too--since when do bus stops take up a whole tile?

-The music is terrible. Thank god we can put our own music in.

-The commute time expectations are ridiculous. Someone that travels 12 blocks via car to get to work does not have a LONG commute! AND to build a luxury house out in the sticks [styx?] only to abandon it 3 months later because you have to get on the highway to get to work downtown? That's not realistic at all. Hello? Ever been to Atlanta, GA?

-I love how building an avenue bride requires having a road that suddenly is inclided 45 degrees only to flatten out just as abruptly.

-Can someone please explain to me why my city only craves high-tech industry but not $$ and $$$ office space?

in the interest of time (and my productivity at work today) I'm going to stop here
