2 Questions

1. I've decided to organize my plugins folder by menus the buildings are under and then what type of buildings they are. So that would be 2 sub folders. Has anyone found this to be useful or just a big pain and not worth it?

2. As far as dat files go..... Do I understand correctly that the dat files should be in the plugins folder with no sub folders?

My plugins are organized as such:

(subfolders)

Residential

Commercial

Industrial

Transportation

Landmarks

PEGASUS

Simgoober

NDEX

Utilities

Makes it easy to find and delete stuff.

Mine are organized with folders and sub-folders sort of like SpecialEddies, I have the NAM first in a folder by itself, I have a folder for BAT's, Lots, Props, and Mods and each folder i have sub-folders for the different creators aka NDEX, or BSC etc. and since i organized i think i am having slightly faster loading and gameplay 4.gif

Thank you all. I knew I wasn't the only one. Although perhaps I'm a bit more anal. I gone so fare as to change the folder with each file with a picture of the building. Call me crazy. :-)

mine are not very sorted for sc4... but I did a very accurate sorting in sims2, and I could tell you 1 thing:

If I would be able to do it with my sc4 plugins, I'd go for it! with 2.2gbs of plugins its quite hard to have an overview...

Luckily I have put them in single folders so I don't have to search for all files of one certain plugin all over the folder

You should definately go for a subfolder division.

no matter if sorted by menu location, creator, wealth or whatever.

but one thing you should ALWAYS remember: create a new folder for every plugin you dl (most of come already or are installed in a folder). Makes later browsing way easier

many different way to originize your plugins folder....but remeber the most import thing is to be able to find the lot yourself and be still able to identify which downloaded zip it came from... so you can find and/or get help/edit or find the Readme file on a troublesome download in the future

to help keep things originized...get the SC4Tool program (latest version in the Modds and Download section)

just for the abiltiy to scan and get the correct stats...so you know where to put any of the down loads..4.gif

I personelly keep a backup of my downloads outside of my game (open) on an external HD and seperate the downloads accordingly

    my NAST tileset...4.gif

(above mod requires you to download the original lots seperately)....but it's a great start for buildings...4.gif

Hey Indisguise - THANK YOU SO MUCH! That's exactly what I needed. Now I can waste more time organizing my plugins folder. Really though, it's a big help. I ALMOST have as much fun organizing my plugins folder as playing the game............almost.
