It's been a while since I've posted a 3RR map here, so here's two.

I remain fascinated by the idea of doing topo maps for my region.  Here's the start of one I did recently in connection with some of the backstory for a quad.  It's processed output from the TerraFormer layered over a map from the game.

Here's the most current map of 3RR.

Click here [ linkie ] for the 2048x2048 version, which will open (slowly) in a new window.

There's always something going on at 3RR [ linkie ]

Here's a pair of maps for Khorstadt, one of two big cities in my current region. One is for the Trams that run around the Old Town in the south and the other is for a Light Rail line along the coast in the north. Both use GLR pieces but with different station types. I might do a full Subway map and a commuter eventually.

Well I used Macromedia/Adobe Fireworks 8, using lines and autoshapes. You could probably get a similar result with Illustrator.

Hey, MPD01605, nice to see your expanded network.

David, your maps never cease to amaze me - wondeful stuff.

Nice map, IllTonkso, I love your CJ, too.

JitteryJoe - I'd definitely like to see more of your work. I like your development of unique symbols for your transit network.

Shingure - thanks for sharing your work.

Weasel, that really is very Paris-like. Nice reflection of your CJ.

yo guys, what program are you using to make such great maps? i mean, i don't know anything and i only use windows paint to draw my map.. and it's a bit awful, with the blurry and everyhing.. (asked & answered, sorry)

evil weasel, bennedict, buster, dzigns, how do you guys draw your maps? what program do you use?

other thing, do you combine several city tiles of a region to make one city name or your cities are basically one large tile of a region?

thanx...

Hi, Opiq

I use photoshop. I generally use the path tool, as well as the marquee tool (both rectangular and elliptical) to make the line outlines. Each line is in a different layer, and as such the color can be changed at will through the Layer Effects tools. I also use copy and paste a lot - no need to re-invent the wheel.

I almost always do my maps with the grid on (makes using the other tools much much easier for simple diagrams).

As far as city tiles go, some of my city transit networks are on one tile, others stretch across more than one. The Eloff El covers one large tile and 2 medium tiles at the moment. Another network that I will feature in the future covers one medium and two small tiles.

Hope that helps.

The metro system of the city of Atreuxbourg (more info in my CJ) .. do you think is logical? Gare means station, they are all end stations so the metro is very important to travel between the stations. Also Les Halles and Place d' Opera have an el-rail station with the line going to two suburban cities with over 150.000 people living in them.

Looks great, petriknl. Would it be more logical if the red line (2) ran all the way to Gare du Sud? Or maybe it should run to Gare du Nord instead...

Any plans to show a map of your el line?

And as you already know I love your CJ, particularly the region views.

Thanks for your comments Benedict. The blue and red lines are the first two metro lines, there purpose whas to connect the main railstations who are not connected by rail. Thats why the blue line runs north-south and the red line east-west going to the Place d' Opera where you can switch to the RER lignes to the East. Maybe a updated map is better, I added the two RER Lines, Ligne A going to Ste Anne and La Ritieux and Ligne B towards Ste Marie du Ginon, and with the SNCF logo the railway station are now better visible.
