yeah for the freeway interchanges, I had to create differing shades of the orange to show where the ramps are actually going.  If not they would have all just melted together lol.  Anyone have any criticisms or constructive comments?

@ krwpjm: Your map is very detailed - nice job.

To solve your freeway ramp problem, as the dark orange really does stand out and makes it look a little less polished, you would have to go with something like this: I only did one small section, but you'll get the idea.

Here's the Altair Subway Map.

It's still missing its legend, so I'll fill you in-- white stops are both express and local stops and black are local only. Diamond-shaped lines are express, and circular are local.

Here, also, is an unfinished road map of the central district of Verona, the capital of my CJ's country.

Both cities are featured in my CJ.

@TekindusT: That was the inspiration, alright, right down to the colors I chose for the lines n' background. Every weekday it's the Uptown F from the Lower East Side for me...

Hmmm, I've missed some great new maps. Good job guys.

I've moved over to CXL and I'm really loving it. Haven't had a chance to make a map yet, but here's the traffic picture of my first city so far. Hopefully I can make a map of it at some point, or more likely of the next city I do as this was more to practice some things and get used to the game.

I was playing Race for the Galaxy and for some odd reason thought that the two different types of cards could be represented as subway diagrams.

Developments give benefits in different phases of the game (Explore, Develop, Settle, Trade, Consume, Produce). Additionally, the development cards that cost 6 to play generally provide extra points at the end of the game. I chose the diamond shape for that line because it is the symbol for development in the game.

Worlds come in different varieties: production (yellow alien artifacts, green genetic material, brown rare elements, and blue novelty goods), windfall (the same four types), and grey. Worlds of any of these three types can also be military (surrounded by a red circle).

It was a bit harder to decide what to do as far as lines for the worlds was concerned. The production ones were fairly easy, but there are a lot of grey military worlds, and many of them have the subtype 'Rebel'. I took some liberty with where some worlds fit in the grand scheme of things, but here's what i came up with. There are also a lot more worlds than developments!

The next challenge will come when they release an expansion later this year...

This is the transport map for my CJ "Harbourtown" - I convereted it to jpeg, that's why the colors are running. I orientated myself a bit on the maps of London. Sadly, it got a bit overloaded at the end, maybe I will do a new one

Network12-1.jpg

The next Transport Map is from my current CJ "Abbey-Upon-Tyne" (the link is below 2.gif). It is a lot more basic but needs some more working on it. Especially the river.

Hope you like 'em.

If you're a Melburninan, you'd understand. Anyway from my CJ,

All lines except Hoddletown & Eastcape terminate at St. Margarita Station (Hoddletown terminates at Hawthorn & Eastcape runs through Hawthorn to Britannia). The Delta Railway service runs from both Hawthorn and St. Margarita, the Northern Railway runs from Hawthorn and the Ashuyo Railway runs from Cobalt.

Awesome as always dedgren. I think you own the topo/gazetteer category hands down.

Here's a street map I'm working on for my CXL city Delphi.

dprev.gif

I'll probably try to "tune" the colors closer to a Google map before I finish this thing up, but like I said, I'm still working on it....

This is the first in a series of historical maps of a subway/light rail system from its opening to projected map in 2030. Feel free to point out any mistakes in the map or possible improvements.

Good map, emgmod.  I'm looking forward to seeing it develop.  Is it based on Washington DC's metro?

 Here's mine.

It's a layout of all the track and stations in just one of the cities I've got. I have shown connections to the region (squares with E in them).

Blue is subway, Red is El, Yellow is GLR and Green is Heavy Rail. The black/yellow squares are transfers, and coloured square are stations.

I am hoping to add the other city onto it soon, and then try and create some "lines" in NYC style (I think there will be too many for a London Underground one). I'm also hoping to name the stations, and add other items such as Ferries, Stadia, Airport, Uni, etc and probably should add water too.

I think I may have gone overboard with some of the tracks though (that's a lack of planning for you), although some are relief for the more congested lines (I think I might use these as NYC style Express lines). It's also not perfectly to scale.

What does everyone think?

I wish I could!! Haha 9.gif

At the moment, I've just got a massive load of stations and track (see above). I'm intending to then create a map which would be more what a commuter would see. By that I mean, it has stations, places of interest, and lines (which may not be physically accurate).

What I've got currently is more of an engineers' map in that it shows all the tracks. The Sims in the city just use whatever track is the shortest route and I probably won't stop this. Rather, I'll create a nice map with lines (and then line maps, like the Underground) that a visitor/commuter to the city would see. These don't show, for example, dead ends, depots or non-revenue track (but the map above does, although I haven't any depots). Although in-game all track is available for use, my map would make it seem as if only some of the track exists.

As for the city itself, I'm using the Timbuktu region, and the peninsular city near the right. It is mostly residential (pop around 150k), with some commercial dotted around (close to the GLR) and in the top left corner. There is a very busy ferry port in the bottom, which takes a lot of commuters, and a motorway in a tunnel under most of the city. The city to the north (which I've yet to add) is all industrial, with mostly Dirty and Manufacturing with a bit of Agriculture.

Hope that answers your question! 1.gif

Well it is interesting but yeah I'd suggest streamlining it into a public version. Basically fake it, my map isn't anything like the actual lines I have in the game that function for game purposes.

Here's mine:  The rail map for Paradise City MetroRail, a heavily used elevated rail/subway system servicing downtown Paradise and the inner-city neighborhoods.  *EDIT:  I just finished adding another line to the east of the green line, I think I'm going to call it either the yellow or purple line.  As soon as I update the map, I'll post it.

Looks good! Yellow would be better as purple might look too much like the pink, but sometimes yellow is harder to see on a white background.

Also I think I'd consider smoothing out some of the minor meanderings of the lines, to get rid of some of those little jagged areas.

Just little ideas, I really do like it.
