  1. Show us your city, road or transit maps!

An update to my previous post. I have created the "real" layout map for all cities, which can be found here. (Beware, both images are a bit large) I have only created names for the bottom two cities, I will do the upper one at a later date (might have to destroy/ignore some stations in there too!) Again, subway in blue, GLR in gold, El in red, and Heavy Rail in Green. Grey areas are where more than one SimCity station represents different entrances to the same "my" station, as they'd be too close together otherwise. I have also done the map the public would see, which can be found here. Again, it only contains the bottom two cities, but there are connections for the top city. As you might be able to tell, I've incorporated bits of the London Underground map with the style of lines/trains of New York. I might do line maps at a later date, depending on how good the World Cup gets! It's taken me a fair old while to make, but I'm really chuffed with it so far. Any thoughts? PS: I've noticed that the line numbers don't show up well on the lighter colours here. I will change that.

Originally posted by: ROFLyoshi Wow. Can you explain the routes?quote> I wish I could!! Haha At the moment, I've just got a massive load of stations and track (see above). I'm intending to then create a map which would be more what a commuter would see. By that I mean, it has stations, places of interest, and lines (which may not be physically accurate). What I've got currently is more of an engineers' map in that it shows all the tracks. The Sims in the city just use whatever track is the shortest route and I probably won't stop this. Rather, I'll create a nice map with lines (and then line maps, like the Underground) that a visitor/commuter to the city would see. These don't show, for example, dead ends, depots or non-revenue track (but the map above does, although I haven't any depots). Although in-game all track is available for use, my map would make it seem as if only some of the track exists. As for the city itself, I'm using the Timbuktu region, and the peninsular city near the right. It is mostly residential (pop around 150k), with some commercial dotted around (close to the GLR) and in the top left corner. There is a very busy ferry port in the bottom, which takes a lot of commuters, and a motorway in a tunnel under most of the city. The city to the north (which I've yet to add) is all industrial, with mostly Dirty and Manufacturing with a bit of Agriculture. Hope that answers your question!

Here's mine. It's a layout of all the track and stations in just one of the cities I've got. I have shown connections to the region (squares with E in them). Blue is subway, Red is El, Yellow is GLR and Green is Heavy Rail. The black/yellow squares are transfers, and coloured square are stations. I am hoping to add the other city onto it soon, and then try and create some "lines" in NYC style (I think there will be too many for a London Underground one). I'm also hoping to name the stations, and add other items such as Ferries, Stadia, Airport, Uni, etc and probably should add water too. I think I may have gone overboard with some of the tracks though (that's a lack of planning for you), although some are relief for the more congested lines (I think I might use these as NYC style Express lines). It's also not perfectly to scale. What does everyone think?
  5. What Building Style Do You use

I start with one of the old ones then switch to Euro. That way all the old buildings look old and run-down, whereas the new ones look all shiny and new.
  6. Show us your airport!

DFire870 - Thanks, it looks alright on the region view now.
  7. Show us your airport!

    I'll hang in. Thanks.
  8. Show us your airport!

Okay, Thanks. Unfortunatly the SC4 website seems to not like me. It says my copy of RushHour has already been registered. I may have registered on the site before (and if I have, I've no idea of my UserName or Password or what email address I used). I can't use the original SC4 serial number as I lost that many years ago. Could someone PM me, and I'll give you my email address, so you can send them to me, please? Thanks, Fred
  9. Show us your airport!

Hello All, I've made an airport using some of the things I downloaded, but it doesn't show up as ain airport on Region View, and in fact the Commercial buildings around it actually demand a airport, yet they've got a big one next to them! How can I make it act like an airport (i.e. show up with the Aeroplane symbol in Region View, and the Commercial buildings use it as an airport (or at least it helps to suppress the Demand for an airport))? Do I need to download something, or have I already downloaded it and havn't realised? Thanks in advance.
