Well not to be a "in you face" type of guy. But the textures really need work, try photoshopping the textures and other stuff. Take a look at my regular BAT posts, and not the SM ones. You can clearly see that I used GIMP to edit textures, cropped, changed colors around a bit, etc. You also want to change your night maps a bit too.  I suggest using or try to make your own night maps to get things right. Also, you NEVER want to clone one floor into a bunch of floors. Its looks bland and all that other junk. Personally, I'd look at real life pictures and use some others and mix them together in a SM way to get what you're looking for. I hope this helps in some way, and you might want to seek for help outside the SM team.

Just looking back at my older BATs.  It would take me 2 hours tops to finish everything including lotting.  And I've learned in my Euro BAT theard that I have to contact other people to get help by PMing them.  But anyways, great work and hope to see some progress!

I'm still around but I've been pretty busy with other things. For one, I lost much of my CJ region to the necessary cleaning up of BATs and lots; so I've been rebuilding in a new region. I've actually been ENJOYING the game again! Also I have many downloads of regular SC4 lots that I wanted to play with, so I switched back to the other Plugin folder for a few weeks and gloried in the greens for awhile. I think I was in to SM too much and had lost my inspiration. I'm presently studying SciFi movies and TV series and such and trying to get a feel for the details that make their models work visually; problem is, so many of the recent releases seem to think the future will look like 13 century Europe! I do have a new space station but I haven't shot it yet -- preview render takes over an hour; full render will probably be about 50! It probably wont even make it into the game but the adventure of creating it has been quite stimulating. I've also been working out some other artistic themes in stone.

And of course there's Facebook! My new addiction!

Maybe we should contact Andi and see what we can do to lighten the load on him and speed the new release -- I was hoping to have something out before the Trixies but it's his first semester at his new school so let's not pressure him. We've done an amazing amount of work this year and I expect there'll be some Trixies for us anyway.

As for Shoji's latest -- I liked it but it does need some texture work. Rather than calling it 'awful' you might consider sending him a texture you think will work better; his parents have enabled filters on his computer to block many image sites. Do him a kindness.

Now I've said my peace, I'll go and brush the dust off my computer (Honest stone dust!) and try to work out a few more BATs.

Ouch! I didn't know that, well I can send you base textures. But try to photoshop them by asking Jasoncw for help on stuff like texturing. I'll give just Earth to SimMars textures for you to use. But you gotta work on textures which makes the BAT great! Remember this line: Good textures are made, not found. Another quote: Good textures on par modeling = Great BAT! Outstanding modeling but awful texturing = Bad BAT! Textures is a HUGE part in BATing and the model itself really is a big deal too.

So, I'll see what I can do.

Here's one from my SM BAT theard.  This is based on the orginial buildings in Beta2.

Currently, this is a 2x4 lot and its W2W.  This isn't the final product.

Since there isn't a highrise W2W, that's why I made this.  But if anyone here is willing to render this for me, I'll be thankful.

    shoji, I'd second that, some of the BATs need a bit more texture work. I.E. the one u made from one of my sketches, the outer wall looks too bland still. (but really cute too see a model made from my drawing 4.gif nice job!)

    tim, that 2nd building was from bdswim.

    sorry I was away for so long but college life has completely eaten all my time. the workload in my course is pretty damn big. I hope to have more time ove the 2nd semester, I'll definitely have much more time again in the summer.

    re: the next release, bdswim hasnt been online for a good few months. I was gonna ask him to the installer. anyone else can help out with that?

    At least you're still here. Anyway, how do you make the middle part or the retangluar-box part of Hollemand Tower? I tried opening up the gmax file, but its not working. Any possible way I can model it?

    I have a 1 GREAT NEWS and 1 BAD NEWS, I Met Ledah2445 and he said that he finish the suspended monorail (Andi's Choose to replace Monorial) . BAD News He told me that apologize about the Plame Modding Projectand it still unresponds in the community especially in SimMars

    And yes, this is BAT4MAX and I own 3dsmax2010 now.

    Since I kinda quit playing SC4 since it was interfering with real life, so I don't play SC4 period.  Expect with BATing and that's it,


    Here's the latest update for my spaceship.

    I know scaling is a major issue in this one, so I'll rescale it to 400m at most.

    This was taken from my spaceship workshop theard.

    "The yellow box is just 400 meters compared to the pink box which is about 1,000 meters.  You're saying that most ocean frighters are about 400 meters.  Well, since this is a Sci-Fi type of a ship, I guess I could downsize it too 400 meters, but it will look akward if you ask me.  It just doesn't look right."

    Thanks! I'm just doing experiments on minor detailed Sci-Fi cities. So I'll try to get back to this ASAP. As for the scaling part, its rescaled to 400m, as the window part.. I can't resize it since its part of the mesh.

    I have no clue what this might be, maybe some type of mid-rise pencil tower industial or C$.

    Since I don't play SC4 anymore, I might make a city block out of this and see what happens.  Also, I'll be uploading this to the SMEX if you want to edit it, as of now its not finished.

    I am back from my vacation ny and nj and happy 2010 to simmars team.

    I  precent my new username renedius, my old username just
    like original name

    next i am sorry for being inactive for a wile but i was busy whith
    my college life, homework and time whith my ungle in vineland, nj
    and almont lousing my old poor pc forcing me open the interior
    of my pc to clean the gray dirty inside it and cheaking the
    cables are correct port and it work
    but i am ready for simmars because this semesrter i have 2 days of 3 clases a week.
    i have alot of bats ready to go i have plans to bat building
    form rampage games such as lunar tech form rampage wt and
    Rampage Through Time.
    here are the new bats not gmax because i must make
    a balance to keep my pc working since time for a new pc

    Renedius, am I right that you were username renemone before?

    EDIT: looking at ur BATs they are lovely models indeed, but like this they cant be considered for Beta 3 as they were renderes in Draft mode and dont have any night lights/windows. Can you add at least night windows and render in high quality?

    yes you are rigth i have create a new account as renedius

    remplace mone to dius

    my old account was normal name so

    i deside change by creating a new account

    and delete my old account

    but take time to delete

    some of those bat are in tree types of quality

    but i have some of gmax bats to upload

    the names of those bat are base of

    classic videogames.

    Welcome back! I'm glad to see you back here! I love your BAT style 4.gif

    The gmax files you uploaded are not of much use as you did not include any of the textures. You need to use the function "Resource Collector" in gmax in order to export the gmax file including the textures.

    Let me know if you need help with this.

    Apart from this, it is best if you can finish the BATs yourself as no one might be available to finish them, we are preparing Beta 3 for release and that's a lot of work. So you are better off finishing the BATs on your own. I would very much like to see your BATs finished, I think they would blend great into the SimMars tile set.

    So I suggest take a break from creating new BATs and finish up what you have. As mentioned, make sure to have night windows and lights (night windows is the absolut minimum) and render in high quality.

    Okay, this is the last one for awhile -- I just thought there weren't enough buildings this size in the tileset. Ceraunius Tower is a CO$$$.

    renedius, some great new BATs there in the pack 9.gif Particular the larger ones. I think we have enough of the smaller types since you have already uploaded loads of them before and they seem to be mostly variations in different arrangement.

    regarding lotting it is important that you have a look at the lotting guidelines regarding naming and setting values correctly. Find them in the BAT and LOT guidline thread. Otherwise it is a lot of work for me or Tim to fix the lots.

    I havent checked all files in the pack yet, but are there any BATs you did last year that didnt have nightlight and were rendered in draft left to be reshot? I'd really like to include them in Beta 3.

    (the cut-off for new content was last weekend, so no more new additions)
